Skorpions. They've infested the whole area. |
Workers are a type of Skorpion that carry sacs of acid.
Etymology and Anatomy
Workers gain their names Worker (Someone or something that works). Workers hatch from the eggs laid by a Swarm Tyrant. The plural of Worker is Workers. When in groups, they are called a swarm.
Workers have a reddish-brown and Green body. They can grow a pale colored sac on their back.
Workers are hexa-pedal insectoid creatures. They have two mandibles and several sharp bristles in their mouth. It is unknown whether they have eyes. They have a pale-green abdomen that glows.
During Season of Skulls, Workers born will have a pale appearance and red glowing eyes. They behave like a normal Worker but look eerie. They are referred to as mistborn skorpion or Mistborn Workers.
Narrative Involvement
Workers, like all skorpions, first came to bastion through the cataclysm that destroyed the ancient Arcanist city of Anshar.
They are found in cold and dark places. Like other skorpions, they hatch when they sense enemies nearby. Their acid is said to corrode the thickest of javelin armor.
When encountered in the wild, they are found among other skorpion types such as Digester and Soldier, and nests of Skorpion eggs.

Behavior and Abilities
A Worker Searching for Its Target
Workers have the no abilities. But they make up for that with their hidden attributes.
Hidden Attributes
Workers have the following hidden attributes:
- Predatory Hatcher: Workers inside skorpion eggs only hatch when they sense food nearby. Their food includes humans.
- Suicidal Seeker: Workers look for their target and when they reach it. They somit suicide and detonate the acid-filled sac on their back, with at least putting the enemy under the
Acid status, or even doing damage to them.
Strategy
Workers move around constantly looking for targets. They grow a sac and fill it with acid when a pre is found. Doing damage to or defeating these creatures can make them drop ammo and repair packs. If health or ammo is low, collect these resupplies.
Combat
It is best to approach Workers from a distance. Gun damage or ranged gear damage should do the trick.
Targeting the sac of the Worker will do more damage to it, since that’s where the weak point is located.
Every Named Worker
There are no named Workers. Legendary Workers are encountered in several locations in Freeplay through World Encounters as
Target Enemy that will drop a loot guaranteed.
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- Workers are assumed to be females because they look similar to their mother, the Swarm Tyrant because of the bulbous sac.
- Workers don’t hatch with their sacs, but they grow them.
- The number of pips in the health/armor bar do not represent the total value. This means, two types can have same number of pips, but the stronger type (legendary or elite) will have a significantly higher health than their weaker counterparts.
- The ability names are taken from the Anthem Prima Guide and datamined files. They may have been slightly modified to avoid confusion with other in-game names.
