Vesnids are swarms of stinging insects in Bastion.
Etymology and Anatomy
Vesnids get their name from the portmanteau of the corruption of the word Vespa (A Wasp; Italian) and Nid (Nest; Latin). A group of Vesnids is called swarm.
Vesnids, individually, are small insects with wings. Their thoracic cavity (body) is mostly made of yellow and black stripes, while their wings are translucent. Their bodies are much larger than their heads. Some vesnids also have stingers.
Narrative Involvement
Vesnids are usually found in places where the flora seems to be withering or dying. It could be a consequence of these insects creating their hives in such places. Their hives are massive. These hives have spires built from chewed-up wood and mucus.
There are several types of Vesnids identified and named by Arcanists: workers, administrators, sentinels, undertakers, nurses, and emperor Vesnids.
A vesnid sting is so powerful that it can kill a Korox. But since most humans outside are in their javelins, the damage is very less.
Standing around a vesnid nest can damage the javelin very slowly.
