Finally! The Freelancer found the location where Vara Brom is hiding—the epicenter of the Echoes of Reality Cataclysm. But this is unfortunate, she isn’t what she used to be after the cataclysm corrupted her turning her into an unrecognizable being. It is the Freelancer’s duty to stop her madness, before it's too late.
Hints and Suggestions
- The dialog exchange between the characters will change depending on whether single player or multiplayer mode is played.
- Remember to perform Feats to obtain XP for increasing Pilot Level and receiving Alliance bonus.
- This arena can be accessed any time during the cataclysm.
- Vara can only be damaged if the Rift on the top of the arena is destroyed.
- See Vara (Cataclysm Form) for details on defeating Vara Brom.
- Vara isn’t particularly weak to any damage type. So the best strategy is to weaken her using Support Gear and Acid status.

Quest Chain
This expedition is a part of the Echoes of Reality Storyline. When the storyline is completed, an appropriate challenge is also completed, which will reward the Freelancer. The following are the related quests in order for this storyline:
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- Collecting Cymatic Notes of any rarity (color) will stabilize the Freelancer’s javelin.
- This event is the only one that doesn’t change during the Skulls version.
- During the Skulls version, there is a filter applied which makes the arena seem different.
- This event will always be available and can be completed even before trying out the other events.

Briefing
The Freelancer flies out of the Pocket of Stable Reality in Armas Bay to reach Throne of Echoes District using any way possible.
- Faye: "Don’t move. The reality around you hasn’t stabilized yet."
- The Freelancer: "How to Dominion troops stand using teleporters? I feel like I hugged an ursix."
- Faye: "We have to be in and out quickly. This storm is tearing our reality apart, starting with you."
In Expedition
The Freelancer must find Vara.
Locate Vara
The Freelancer finds Vara in a monstrous form inside Echo's Heart.
- The Freelancer: "Vara doesn't look so good, does she?"
- Vara Brom: "I know you. My brother’s killers. He was weak. Unfocused. Distracted by ambition. I’m not. I can remake the world."
The Freelancer fights Vara.
- The Freelancer: "You have to stop. This plan can’t work! Your “world” is collapsing as we speak."
- Vara Brom: "I can keep it alive by will alone. But you won’t live to see it."
The Freelancer does more damage to Vara.
- Vara Brom: "I will break you."
At certain times, Vara will call for a ring of flames that destroys everything in the way.
- Vara Brom: "You obey my will."
Vara will go away to stay on top of a tall pedestal at some point.
- Vara Brom: "How did a weakling like you ever reach the Cenotaph?"
Vara continues to do more damage.
- Vara Brom: "What I do, I do for Stralheim."
At some point, Vara will create Dominion enemies to tackle the Freelancer.
- Vara Brom: "The Dominion will rule this world."
When the Freelancer defeats Vara, she will collapse.
- The Freelancer: "This is not the end. I still command this reality. I will return."
Vara withers to dust. Faye used the Egress to pull the Freelancer out of the cataclysm.
Post Expedition
Vara drops several combinations of loot and ember of various rarities. The Freelancer can collect it before exiting the cataclysm.
Notes and Remarks
- This event can be completed without doing any other Cataclysm Events
- Strictly speaking, this is not a Cataclysm Event, but the final boss arena. However, for the sake of convenience, it is considered to be one, as it is a one-of-a-kind situation.
- The dialogs mentioned in the script can vary across different play-throughs and different repetition of the game modes. The dialog will be taken from a pool that get rotated in-game. The script mentioned here is from one such instance only.
