The Vault is a hidden place, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.
History
The Vault is an ancient anzu ruin that had been abandoned a long time ago. Sometime in the Legion Victorious era, arcanists such as Raban Maur came here to hide the cryptid location to find the Elysian Manuscript. Traders such as Lasseter San have visited here only to find it to be cursed. Venwick Crok has also visited this location to find out that elementals like to live here.
In 468 LV, with the assistance provided by Matthias, the Freelancer visited the Vault to find a secret hidden chamber. This chamber was unlocked using a puzzle, and inside was a valuable chest that provided scrolls with clues to the location of the manuscript.
Geography and Layout
The Vault Entrance
The Vault is a convoluted mix between a cave and an anzu ruin. This location has eight chambers that make up for its vastness. The entrance to the Vault is a dark cave that can only be reached by swimming into the Sunken Gardens or Crescent Lake. The darkness here is compensated by bioluminescent flora and fauna. It is lit by glowing stalactites. There appears to be some arcanist equipment and research material here, put on a desk. The actual Vault itself is located under the Iron Serpent district of
The first chamber is a dark cave lit by bioluminescent moss and glowworms. Several predatory fauna are found here—although, it is unknown how they reached this place, considering it is completely underground. There are several open areas inside the Vault, which may allow animals to enter, but it remains unclear. Several stalactites have formed here, and the ground is damp with shallow water pools. The area is serpentine to navigate.
The second chamber is similar to the first, but quite small. It has two cave-mouth like openings and is on a slightly higher ground. More bioluminescent life forms are found here, along with preadators like wolven. There is a shallow pool of murky water on the ground along with uneven rocks.
The next area is massive with two levels. The lower level forms the third chamber. It is made of Anzu structures all around. There is light coming from a hole in the ceiling, Several Dominion enemies are found here. The center has some large flora growing on an elevated anzu structure. The ground is damp with several shallow water pools formed on contoured ledges.
The fourth chamber is similar to the third, with more anzu structures attached to natural rock formations. However, it is on the upper level. The walls here have bioluminescent life forms in them. Vines grow on the surface of anzu pillars. The entrance to the next chamber can only be opened by solving a secret puzzle in Hidden Depths.
With the entrance unlocked, it is possible to move to the fifth chamber, which has a cascading waterfall formed from a stream coming out of the lower level of the previous one. Only bioluminescent life forms keep this location eerily lit. Stalactites and stalagmites can also be seen here. The only way forward is to keep flying downward.
The sixth chamber is quite impressive. A wide variety of flora can be found here. There is one anzu pillar at its center. There is ample light coming from a hole on the ceiling, while the walls have waterfalls on them. Small fauna can be encountered, usually the harmless kind. The bottom on this chamber has a beautiful shallow water lake.
The Vault Exit
Moving on to the seventh chamber, which is a small cavelet like the second once, there are some Red Chimeric Minerals found here. Again, more bioluminescent life is seen here. He ground has some stagnant water and minor plant life. Nothing impressive here. Best to press on to the final chamber.
The eight chamber is very impressive with anzu ruins scattered like its no one’s business. The ground is uneven, but easy to traverse. Occasionally, titans can be seen here! Sometimes, the Dominion fiends are found trying to establish their dominance, but in vain. Some parts of the cave has bioluminescent life forms, but for the most part, it is only worn down rocks.
