The Necropolis is a hidden place, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.

History

The Necropolis is an old cave that leads into secret Anzu ruins which were made using an unknown type of material. This place is called the Necropolis because many unknown dead beings, presumably anzu, are entombed here, according to Yarrow and Kei Hasa.

In 468 LV, when Matthias was physically divided into three by the Manifold, one of the trio decided that moving the Shaper relic to a different location could stabilize it and establish a Convergence. Eventually, Sumner took this relic inside the Necropolis, unfortunately, making it more unstable and causing three Ash Titans to spawn. Fortunately, the Freelancer rescued him and the relic.

Later, after silencing the Heart of Rage, to help Yarrow find his friends Freelancers Hopkins, Kriss and Maa, and in an attempt to stop Diggs, the Impostor, the Freelancer went again inside the Necropolis. The rescue was successful, and Diggs was stopped for good.

The Necropolis Entrance

The entrance to the Necropolis is found under the Silent Path. Once inside, eight inner chambers, both major and minor, can be found in the Necropolis. The Necropolis is a series of chambers that keep going underground while following an extremely long river.

The first chamber is brightly lit with freshwater flowing inside the cave. Many lush vines and ferns grow here. There is also a small waterfall keeping them hydrated. This then becomes a shallow stream, which turns into a river.

The second chamber is a long tunnel that leads off the first. The chamber is quite long and has several stalactites and stalagmites. Some minerals and docile fauna are found here. The river continues but remains shallow.

As the second chamber ends, there is a final bend in the tunnel, where there is a clear distinction between the area with natural light from a fissure in the ceiling and the darkness, where bioluminescent life forms grow. This is the third chamber. It also has the shallow stream continue in it, and some small plantlife.

As the previous chamber comes to an end, darkness befalls and the flowing river becomes a minor waterfall, and exit to a massive Anzu ruin, which is the fourth chamber. Often, outlaws are seen here. There are thick vines growing on the block-shaped ruins of the second chamber. Some aquatic faunas can be seen here.

The water continues to flow beneath the ruins and exits towards the fifth chamber into another waterfall through the ruin itself. The ruins and the natural caves continue to meld together in a small chamber, that leads to more ansu ruins.

The sixth chamber is quite small, but almost completely made of anzu ruins, but hanging from the ceiling. Several bioluminescent lifeforms can be seen thriving here. The waterfall from earlier continues as a river here.

The Necropolis Exit

The river descends further into a cascading waterfall, plunging atop more anzu ruins and reaches a tall, but narrow seventh chamber with more bioluminescent life. The blocky structures meld with the cavernous rocks on the walls, while the river continues.

The river finally exits from the small chamber into a massive anzu ruin, from ceiling to ground. There is open space in its center for light to enter, somehow, even when it is so underground. Thick vines grow here. More outlaws can be seen trying to hold their ground. Although, there are bioluminescent life, the place is mostly lit by the light source from outside. Although, the river ends here, it is unknown where is exits into. Fortunately, for any lancer wandering into this maze, there is an exit to use, instead of going all the way to the starting point to go out of this dreaded place.

Some places get so quiet you can hear the blood pulsing in your ears. Makes you wonder what creature first felt that silence and knew they'd found home so long ago. I believe the dead talk down here, but I don't think we're ready to hear what they have to say."
