The Foundry is a hidden place, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.

History

The Foundry is a Shaper Ruin that has existed for a very long time. Some time ago, after the Scars invaded Bastion, thery were witnessed by an outlaw called Moneymaker Merch trying to tamper with the Foundry. He has not been seen since he recorded this event in his journal.

When Freemark was destroyed in 458 LV and the Heart of Rage was unleashed, it triggered a reaction where Shaper Ruins across Mirrus became active and caused various unexplainable phenomenon. People always were lost in the Emerald Abyss, and this event made the disappearance even more severe. People who disappeared included Teenen Prosh and Cardea Dell, an heir to the Royal Family of Antium and a brilliant cartographer. With the help o fthe Freelancer, a Sentinel Captain called Dax found a way to solve this Mystery of the Emerald Abyss and found Cardea and all other disappeared people were rescued from the decade old Vanishing Act.

The Foundry Entrance

The Foundry is made of eight chambers. It is a massive Shaper Ruin. In fact, apart from the Monument, this ruin has to be the largest Shaper Structure found in Northern Bastion. The ruins are mostly made of large Shaper artifacts of unknown function. However, since the disappearance mystery was solved, it though that the Foundry is a portal to a land of eternal twilight where time is suspended and doesn’t flow.

The first chamber has a long structure. Viny type flora can be seen where sunlight can creep into the chamber. Small fauna like grabbits are also seen loitering. This may be a deactivated Shaper Tunnel, but remains unconfirmaed.

The second chamber is elongated and a series of moss-laden interconnected gear-like structures, below which there is a small space to go further. The gears seem to be jammed somehow.

The third chamber is a massive circular open area. Dominion are usually seen here likely trying to do their unscrupulous activities. There seems to be a shaper door at the center with an unknown purpose.

The fourth chamber is directly below the third and attached to it. It is mostly a support structure for the artifacts on the third one above it. Previously, this had some kind of electrical fluid that would do a number on any javelin coming in its contact. Not, the pool is empty.

The fifth chamber’s entrance is found on the far side of the third. This chamber is again a long one like the first, but has a lengthy pipeline in the center with pinions around. There is ample space to move around this, but is covered in lichen. Some Dominion enemies can be seen here, but not the high-ranking ones.

Next, the sixth chamber is the largest open area inside the Foundry. It is the highest and largest part of the Foundry. Some chimeric plants or alloys are found here. But more importantly, there are quite a few hanging Shaper structures. Waterfalls are near the walls to cool the thrusters of a javelin if needed.

The Foundry Exit

The entrance to the seventh chamber is on the opposite and top of the entrance to the previous. This is a small antechamber to the final and there is nothing noteworthy here.

The final chamber is quite large, and can be divided into the left and right sides. At the center there is a walkable area which leads to the entrance to the portal of eternal twilight. On the walls are wheels that cause energy to flow to the portal’s opening mechanism. Light can be seen entering from the far end of the topmost structure. The structure has several concentric in front of it, which lead to a Shaper Door that cannot be opened. Bu the entrance of this chamber is a fast exit mechanism for those who do not wish to fly all the way back!

"We hid in there. We didn't have much choice—those things at our back and nothing but quiet, black space ahead. Little did we know those great metallic machines had one eye open. Only three of us saw the light of day again."
