The Fortress of Dawn is a landmark, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.
History
This is the most prominent Legion of Dawn structure ever built. General Tarsis requested Arden Vassa to built a new Haven for the free people as more and more joined the resistance. It is said that Vassa stood in the Darkwood Barrens when building the fortress. He used ember to build it faster than ever, and its use made such an impact that it scorched the ground.
When the Urgoth found out about the Human Resistance, the Haven had to be evacuated. The people were migrated to the Fortress. When they first laid their eyes on the gilded fortress, they wept tears of joy, expresses Volume of Tarsis. The two colossi fixed to the fortress were built to scare away the enemies.
The fortress housed hundreds of free peoples, trained warriors to use javelins in the courtyard. Everything was prepared here for the final conflict against the Urgoth. The fortress was permanently sealed after the Legion of Dawn became victorious by Arden Vassa. It was laden with a gauntlet inside if anyone dared to unlock it.
Between the years 466 and 468 LV, Faye Navine found out a way to unlock the Fortress of Dawn while researching in Fortuo. It could be opened using the signet of any legionnaire or General Tarsis herself. She secretly sought the help of Corvus to contract a Freelancer to help her and the Legendary Freelancer Haluk, so that they could claim the Javelin of Dawn to contain the Heart of Rage. Although the javelin was found, it was stolen by Owen Corley.
However, Faye was quick enough to study the blueprints and other necessities to build their own Javelin of Dawn. Eventually, using this knowledge and a piece of the original Javelin of Dawn given by Owen trying to make reparations, they made the Freelancer’s javelin powerful enough to enter the cataclysm and silence the Cenotaph ending the decade long destruction caused by the Heart of Rage in 468 LV.
In the same year, the Paladins, entire faction of which was though to have become the Dominion, came out of the hiding, and challenged the Freelancer to light several shrines to honor their fallen, one of them was on a tower of the fortress. The Freelancer honored them and the fallen.
Geography and Layout
Geography of The Fortress of Dawn
The Fortress is a massive structure built using stone and metal, on the top of a large hill. It is massive enough to have two courtyards, and several towers. There are flora and fauna in the fortress. Unlike most Legion monuments, the Fortress isn’t in ruins. In fact, it is quite well preserved for a structure that is over 500 years old. There are several large statues present all across the landmark. The door to its entrance is one of the largest structures seen.
There are two courtyards for before the entrance to the fortress Upper Courtyard and Lower Courtyard. The interior of the Fortress shows prime Legion architecture!
There are even flora and fauna that live in the fortress vicinity, including the waterfalls near it. Currently, some parts of the fortress are covered in mossy patches.
Since its reopening, the Dominion, the Outlaws and sometimes even the Scars have tried to occupy the fortress, but in vain. Arcanists come to study the fortress once in a while. They even conduct some of the Shaper related research here.
