Location Hidden Place The Dungeon Header Image

The Dungeon is a hidden place, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.

History

The Dungeon is a hidden place that was built in conjunction with the Fortress of Dawn. From its name and internal appearance, the Dungeon was likely a place where captives of the Legion of Dawn were held.

Many people claim that the architecture and furnishing of the Dungeon is anachronistic and may be created after the Legion of Dawn. Some instances of this are observed by seeing modern chandeliers, usually imported from Heliost on the ceilings.

In 468 LV, the Dungeon was occupied by a scar called Rust Reaver by following Arcanist Matthias Sumner. Fortunately, upon the request of a mysterious woman called Tassyn, the Freelancer went on a search for Matthias and eventually found him inside the Dungeon. After defeating several Scar swarms and eventually, Rust Reaver, the Freelancer rescued Matthias.

Geography and Layout

The Dungeon Entrance

The Dungeon Entrance

The Dungeon, like most hidden places has eight chambers. There are several flora and fauna found inside the Dungeon. Outlaws are constantly trying to takeover this place and fail to do that.

Upon entering, the first chamber shows a long corridor with plant growth on the walls from the sunlight creeping from the open parts. The walls also have several carved faces of unknown members of the Legion. Tattered drapes hang from the walls.

The second chamber is reached by walking up stairs. While not as long as the previous one, it is certainly narrower with the same tattered curtains and furnishings. Scaffolding can be clearly seen here. However, there is an effigy of a Legionnaire at its end. Some vines are found here, along with a few outlaws.

The third chamber is two storied, but in ruins. Some mor eoutlaws and plant life can be seen here with similar furnishings like the previous chambers.

Next is the largest chamber of the above-ground part of the Dungeon. There are several separations found here by tall pillars. Vines grow vigorously here. In the center, there is another effigy, covered with vines. A massive gaggle of outlaws can be encountered here. There is more scaffolding and tattered drapes here.

There is a minor ante-chamber connecting the fourth and a series of staircase. There are no outlaws here, but the similar furnishing and décor is observed. The staircase has four levels before leading into a tunnel. This fifth chamber only has vines growing in it and exits with more similar décor.

The sixth is a snake-like tunnel with bioluminescent lifeforms. It is quite dark and has woody vines growing in it. The uneven ground has shallow pools of water. Several Pink Chimeric Minerals are seen here—they can be harvested.

The Dungeon Exit

The Dungeon Exit

The end of the tunnel leads to the largest chamber in the Dungeon, so large that it could comprise of two chambers on its own. The seventh chamber—lower level—has rocky ground with shallow water pools. There are several gaols found her with chains and cuffs hanging from the walls. More outlaws are encountered here. This place is lit by constantly burning braziers. Occasionally, titans can be encountered here!

The eighth and final chamber is the upper level of the final chamber. Woody vines grow here from the ceiling. While the elements of prison are found here, there is a striking gilded chamber in the center. The purpose of this close chamber is unknown. There are several mechanisms to open and close the gate sof the gaols here. Beware, if titans are encountered, they can climb to the upper level. To exit the Dungeon, without having to return to the first chamber, there is an exit gate located in the lower level by its entrance.

Flora

The following are the revealed varieties of plantlife that are guaranteed to be found in The Dungeon. Even a single instance of the flora found in this location is listed here. There may still be more plants that aren't accurately charted:

  1. Bioluminescent Moss Teal
  2. Bioluminescent Spore Teal
  3. Common Bush
  4. Cup Chimeric Plant
  5. Enset (Outside)
  6. Grass

Creatures

The creatures marked with World Encounter Icon and World Event Main Icon are found only through World Encounters and World Events respectively. Those unmarked may also be found in such events, but are usually found on their own. The following types of fauna, Chimera, and Elementals are revealed to be found in The Dungeon. There may also be small Insects which are tough to identify. Weaponized and Shaper Corrupt creatures are not listed here

Enemy Encounters

As with all locations of Coda, The Dungeon may have hostile forces. Hostile plantlife and animals, if found here, aren't considered as enemy encounters. The enemies marked with World Encounter Icon and World Event Main Icon are found only through World Encounters and World Events respectively. Those unmarked may also be found in such events, but are usually found on their own.

The following types of enemies may be encountered in The Dungeon:

Similar architecture can be discovered across Bastion. Yet only here do we see it mixed with modern machinery, as though some Heliost engineers started making suggestions and adding chains and winches.

Trivia

  • This hidden place or its surroundings will look different during various seasonal times, which includes the presence or absence of various cataclysmic storms.
  • The Dungeon is one of the Hidden Places that is used during a mission.
  • The Dungeon is one of the Hidden Places where no World Event takes place. This may be because it has World Encounter of Outlaws. These enemies were tough to find around the time of launch in order to complete the Faction related Weekly Challenges.
  • The Dungeon, like other hidden places, uses a unique instanced map which is not a part of Northern Bastion map.
  • The Cortex Entries for the Dungeon cannot be obtained in the Library. Each time a loading screen is encountered when entering the Dungeon, one entry is available to read, at random.
