The Drill is a landmark, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.
History
The Drill is a lesser Shaper structure connected to the largest known Shaper relic called the Monument. It has existed since time immemorial.
The Drill, as its name suggests, is a massive drill, which was used to, again as the name suggests, drill underground for excavation, according to the Arcanists. Its real purpose is unknown, but Arcanists theorize that the Monument and its twin, found in the region of Great Expanse, are connected to each other through the excavation caused by the Drill.
In 468 LV, during the winter seasonal celebration of Icetide, Shaper globes started surfacing. One such globe showed up around the rill and still persists today. The Drill seems to be dormant for now, with no signs shown of any Shaper energy upswing.
Geography and Layout
Geography of The Drill
The Drill is made of unknown metal that the Shapers used to construct their instruments and structures. The composition of this metal is unknown, but is sturdy enough for withstand eras word of corrosion. In fact, only minor vegetation like moss has ever been able to cause change in its appearance.
The Drill is affixed to rock and boulder formations around it. It has a swirling vortex of water in its center, as if it is slowly drilling something under it through a massive central cylindrical apparatus. However, its effects aren’t seen as of yet. Other Shaper structures can also be seen within the Drill. Perhaps the most prominent feature of this structure is the way it creates intersecting rainbow patterns in and around it!
Some flora and fauna are found in and around this location. The Drill always has a Dominion turret guarding it for an unknown reason.
