Ahem... Freelancer... This page is about The Cenotaph Ruins location. For the expedition, go to The Heart of Rage (Stronghold). |

The Cenotaph Ruins is a special environment, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV. This location exists deep in the ruins of Freemark surrounded by a Shaper storm brewing around it. It is a wasteland that cannot be accessed unless the cataclysm is entered. Currently, the Shaper door to open this ruin is not accessible, but the location can be entered during the completion of The Heart of Rage (Stronghold).
History
In the year 458 LV, a Dominion army led by the infamous Doctor Harken and a secret operative called the Monitor destroyed the bustling city of Freemark. Freemark was built atop an underground Shaper ruin called the Cenotaph, this ruin was home to a relic, also called the Cenotaph. Harken attached a strange device to the Cenotaph causing it to go volatile and unleash the largest cataclysm known to humans called the Heart of Rage.
Several unsuccessful attempts were made to silence the cataclysm. However, in 468 LV, a Freelancer, a Cypher, and a strider pilot, along with a friend turned enemy successfully stopped the cataclysm.
Geography and Layout
Until the Battle of Freemark, this underground ruin was surrounded by large Shaper structures, on its walls and from its ceilings. A Shaper door leading to the ruins was the entrance to the Cenotaph, located at the end of a cantilever bridge. The Dominion made their way past through the Freelancers and Sentinels defenses and entered the ruins.
In 468 LV, while reaching the volatile Cenotaph in the ruins, the Freelancer was able to open the Shaper door, behind which the Cenotaph was locked, using echoes. At this time, it was clear that the Shaper ruin was truly in ruins due to the cataclysmic activity of the Shaper storm caused by the volatile relic. Destroyed Shaper structures remained scattered all over the place, while volcanic lava flowed through the land. In one particular area, the ground was filled with acid pools. All the while lightning, struck the ground.
When the Cenotaph was finally silenced, the decade long storm and the cataclysmic changes it brought in finally calmed down. The ruins still exist today, and although can be explored, cannot be entered through normal means.
