The Bullet Mires is a district of Academy Ruins Subregion found within the region of Northern Bastion, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.

History

The Bullet Mires is a minor swampy bog found within the Academy Ruins. It is situated adjacent to the ruins of Velathra.

After the death of General Tarsis and her Guardians of Dawn, one of the Guardians, Artinia the Sharpshooter, was buried somewhere around the Bullet Mires, so that she would watch over the students of Arden Vassa in the Arcanist academy of Velathra.

Years before the advent of the Heart of Rage, a Sentinel called Gira Cage was ambushed by a gang of Outlaws led by Roben Hatch. This event was ironically immortalized by the outlaws through The Ballad of the Bullet Mires.

In the year 468 LV, The Freelancer went on a hunt to find The Tomb of General Tarsis. To find the final location of General Tarsis' Tomb, the four Guardians of Dawn had to be first greeted. Haluk and Faye had obtained information from Princess Zhim to find the whereabouts of the resting places of these Guardians. According to Zhim's Legionnaire Archive, the tomb of Artinia the Sharpshooter was found in the Bullet Mires.

The same year, the Freelancer lit shrines to remember the fallen lancers from the Skirmish at Scavenger Point. During this time, Yarrow found out that outlaws had been stealing Freelancer links. The Freelancer was ambushed by an outlaw gang led by Redlegs Rix near the inert Shaper Key in the Bullet Mires. The Freelancer defeated all the outlaws and became victorious.

Whenever the Freelancer wants to venture outside in the Northern Bastion wilderness, Haluk's Strider or any ally strider before Finding Old Friends is seen resting in the Bullet Mires.

Geography and Layout

Location District The Bullet Mires District Geography Image

The Bullet Mires is supposedly a swampland. However, much of the swamp seems to have dried out and replaced by shrubs and minor flora. There is a deep water lake in the middle of the mires. It is though that the locked Shaper Door leads to the entrance of Tyrant Mine. There is a Shaper spine from which water pours. Behind these falls, there are supply caches, hidden likely by outlaws—there is a text pop annotation here suggesting the events of the Ballad of the Bullet Mires.

Outlaws are regularly seen trying to establish camps here. They remain unsuccessful, since any freelancer flying through the vicinity puts an end to their fiendish attempts.
