I look at a tesilar, and minutes later I'm eating it. |
Tesilars are creatures with spiky protrusions on their backs.
Etymology and Anatomy
Tesilars get their names from the corruption of the Tesla (A unit of magnetic flux density). The plural of Tesilar is Tesilars.
They have a yellow skin with patterns of cardinal red on their bodies. Tesilars have thorn-like protrusions on their head and backs that have a celeste blue glow.
Tesilar are quadrupedal fauna. They have a triangular head and four black eyes each on their face. They do not have a tail. Their behinds are supposedly covered in fur and sharp bristles.
Narrative Involvement
A Tesilar Prepares to Attack
Tesilar are minor nuisances found in dark places. They are easily scared—when that happens, they shoot an electric jolt at the object that scared them.
Tesilars nest inside Tesilar Dens. They once had nested in Tarsis Bypass and the electromagnetic interference from their natural electricity caused javelins, striders, and electrical appliances of Fort Tarsis to malfunction. People of Bastion also love the children’s story book called Tessi the Tesilar.

Behavior and Abilities

Hidden Attributes
Tesilar have the following hidden attributes:
- Docility: Tesilar are docile creatures and they usually don’t attack.
Strategy
A Tesilar Preparing for Shock Pulse
There is no need to hurt these docile creatures as they do not mean harm. Their shock pulse is unfortunately, a long range ability that can target javelin boosters.
The only time a Tesilar needs to be defeated is if there are challenges such as Fruits of the Hunt demand them.
Doing damage to or defeating these creatures can make them drop ammo and repair packs. If health or ammo is low, collect these resupplies.
Combat
If for any reason a Tesilar needs to be defeated, just shoot a few bullets at it or attack it with the javelin’s gear.
But seriously, don’t hurt these docile creatures.
Every Named Tesilar
There are Tesilar names in popular works as characters.
- Tessi the Tesilar in Tessi the Tesilar
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- Like most creatures of Coda, Tesilar can glow. But only their blue spikes glow.
- When a Tesilar is preparing to attack, its eyes and body glows purple.
- Tesilars were supposed to have helped the people during the time of Legion of Dawn by providing their natural electricity, but they did not get domesticated.
- The javelins shocked by Tesilars can knock out the humans inside it. This is mostly true for those using old javelins such as Ranger Mark One.
- Human children are known to play with Tessi the Tesilar toys.
- There is a Freelancer guild in-game called Tesilar Punchfest
- The number of pips in the health/armor bar do not represent the total value. This means, two types can have same number of pips, but the stronger type (legendary or elite) will have a significantly higher health than their weaker counterparts.
- The ability names are taken from the Anthem Prima Guide and datamined files. They may have been slightly modified to avoid confusion with other in-game names.
