Searching for contracts, the Freelancer and Owen were approached by the mysterious Tassyn to track down missing Arcanist Matthias Erryl Sumner. The brilliant and reckless Matthias was exploring ruins near Fort Tarsis when he disappeared.
Following Matthias's radio signals, the Freelancer found the Arcanist in desperate straits, pinned down by Scars. The Freelancer routed the Scars and saved Matthias from certain death.

Here is my intel on Owen Corley since he disappeared with the Javelin of Dawn.
The Monitor, as promised, attempted to take troops into the Heart of Rage. It was a failure. Something went wrong with the Javelin of Dawn. I'm told that Owen was the pilot. He survived. I have no information beyond that.
The failure has not deterred the Monitor. He intends to conquer the Heart of Rage and Dominion reinforcements are reportedly on the way.

FROM: Tassyn
Thank you for your help resolving the Leyton matter. You did the right thing. We can't run the risk of having a Dominion mole right here in Fort Tarsis, and certainly not one married to a Corvus agent.
I wasn't entirely convinced that offering him leniency was the best course. Enemy spies are best dealt with in the most expedient fashion. But in this case, Leyton offered us a direct pipeline back to the Dominion and that was too valuable to pass up. By feeding him the right batch of useful intelligence mixed with disinformation, we can fool his handlers in Stralheim into thinking whatever we want. Nobody ever said spies played fair.
In the meantime, if you're wondering about Nadira, you should put your mind at ease. You did what had to be done. Whether this disrupted their marriage or Leyton's feigned "emotional healing" isn't our concern. It was clearly all an act, anyway. I've reassigned Nadira elsewhere, in a role without access to any classified secrets. I've given her a choice: she can either devote herself to writing supply requisition forms, or she can leave this organization.
Regards,
Tassyn

FROM: Tassyn
Thank you for your help resolving the Leyton matter. I'm sure Nadira isn't happy, but there was no other acceptable outcome. You did the right thing. We can't run the risk of having a Dominion mole right here in Fort Tarsis, and certainly not one married to a Corvus agent. I was never entirely comfortable with their relationship and this incident proves my concerns were warranted. Leyton posed a grave threat to the security of Fort Tarsis and his punishment was fitting. Needless to say, I will have a frank discussion with Nadira about her future with Corvus.
Regards,
Tassyn

Freelancer,
Tassyn forwarded my report on the Swarm Tyrant to the Academy and the Arcanists were so excited, they asked Corvus to send over the damned thing's carcass.
Just guess who she chose to oversee the pickup? Yours truly, of course.
But it gets better. When we got there, someone had already taken the Tyrant's remains. As well as the bodies of the other skorpions you slaughtered along the way. (Doing the gods' work there, by the by.) Turns out, these things go for a tidy sum on the black market. I busted a Regulator ring and a few of their buyers. Not all, but still not a bad day.
So now I'm surrounded by stinking, rotting skorpion corpses until Tassyn sends a strider over to take the lot to the Academy. I swear she's doing this on purpose.
Anyway, thought I'd share my misery with someone who'd appreciate it.

The corvus is a bird of remarkable intelligence, famed for its problem-solving skills and its ruthlessness in defending nesting sites. But less well-known is how long their memories are. Those who have raided nests find themselves chased by angry birds even decades later. Corvus remember, and they pass information along forever.

Through an introduction from Tassyn, the Freelancer met with Yarrow, a retired Freelancer who works to preserve the traditions of the job. He offered the Freelancer a contract to protect a group of Arcanists conducting tests just outside the walls of Fort Tarsis.
The Arcanists found themselves confronted by a swarm of Scars of unprecedented size, so close to Fort Tarsis. The Freelancer's quick thinking saved not only the Arcanists, but also a fellow Freelancer by the name of Rythe, from an uncertain fate, and ensured they all returned home.
