PREVENTATIVE PRECAUTIONS

See Cortex Entry: PREVENTATIVE PRECAUTIONS for More Details

As the Scars near Fort Tarsis became more aggressive, the clever Sentinel Ryssa Brin realized she needed to look outside her own ranks for aid, even if it tested her conversational skills.
Though unsanctioned by her superiors, Brin contracted the Freelancer. The Freelancer discovered the Scars were stealing Arcanist equipment and melding it with a Shaper relic. Once active, the relic produced a horrific swarm of skorpions. Undaunted, the Freelancer defeated the creatures and silenced the relic. Though not won over entirely by the Freelancer, Brin could not argue with the results.

CAUTIOUS COOPERATION

See Cortex Entry: CAUTIOUS COOPERATION for More Details

Encouraged by their earlier success, Sentinel Brin once again requested the Freelancer's aid. The task seemed simple—repair a series of alert beacons—but appearances are deceiving. The final beacon sent out an alert that led the Freelancer to a host of Scars. Once again, the Scars had combined an array of Arcanist machinery with relics that now spat forth deadly elementals. Yet, the Freelancer was triumphant and gained a little more respect from Brin.

A SIMPLE JOB

See Cortex Entry: A SIMPLE JOB for More Details

Twice the Scars had targeted Arcanists. Twice they had merged Arcanist tech with Shaper relics. This could not be a coincidence.
In search of answers, Arcanists were sent to study a Scar-modified relic with the Freelancer sent to protect them. When Scars attacked, the Freelancer defended the Arcanists and silenced the now-volatile relic. It became clear the Scars were pursuing relics that displayed powers of creation and transmutation. While their larger plan was unknown, Brin and the Freelancer had secured a lead.

ENEMY MINE

See Cortex Entry: ENEMY MINE for More Details

Admitting fault is never easy. Overeager, Sentinel Brin sent Sentinels after the Scars—and they had failed to return. Fearing the worst, she turned to the Freelancer for help.
The Freelancer tracked the missing Sentinels to a Scar-filled cave. Tragically, it was too late for most of the Sentinels. One, still alive, painted a grim picture: his comrades had perished silencing a Shaper relic the Scars could not control. Yet a glimmer of hope remained for one last missing Sentinel. While unaccounted for, he might yet live... if the Scars had taken him.

RESEARCH AND RESCUE

See Cortex Entry: RESEARCH AND RESCUE for More Details

Brin mourned her comrades, yet didn't lose hope. As a favor, not a contract, the Freelancer offered to find the last Sentinel and bring him home.
The Freelancer rescued the Sentinel from a den filled with Scars. The grateful Sentinel revealed that an Escari, those rulers of Scars, had dark plans for humanity. The Freelancer found and goaded the Escari into revealing its goal: modifying a Shaper relic to summon a monster capable of crushing Fort Tarsis. The Freelancer defeated the Escari, but the Doomsday relic would need to be found... and quickly.

APOCALYPSE WHEN?

See Cortex Entry: APOCALYPSE WHEN? for More Details

Brin had discovered the location of the Doomsday relic. She and the Freelancer were united in their goal to find and forever silence it.
The Scars were out in force in the wilderness. Brin thought they'd found and silenced the relic, but the Freelancer heard an enormous explosion in the distance. They found a Shaper relic crackling with energy—a true Doomsday relic that had just released a titan. The battle was hard-fought, but the Freelancer defeated the titan, silenced the relic, and found justice for Brin's fallen Sentinels.

ONE OF US

See Cortex Entry: ONE OF US for More Details

Though the Doomsday relic was silenced, Brin learned the Scars and the Dominion still eyed it greedily. Fearing they'd somehow reactivate it, Brin asked the Freelancer to secure the relic. This time, she and the two Sentinels the Freelancer rescued would join the fight.
The Freelancer, Brin, and her Sentinels fought together against waves of Scars and Dominion soldiers. The heroes were unstoppable. They won the day and secured the relic for safe transport. Afterward, Brin, the Freelancer, and the Sentinels met in Fort Tarsis to celebrate their victory and toast the fallen. Brin admitted the Freelancer was an adept warrior... and a better friend.
