Academy Ruins
See Cortex Entry: Academy Ruins for More Details

Directly north of Fort Tarsis are the ruins of the Arcanist academy of Velathra, featuring the astronomy tower and the famous "Shaper Rings." In the early 400's, Fort Tarsis' population began to grow, and construction began on an expansion, but building had to be abandoned due to the Scar incursion.

Eastern Reach
See Cortex Entry: Eastern Reach for More Details

Against the backdrop of Hammertop Mountain, the Eastern Reach is home to the largest Scar population in Bastion and is thought to be the area they first appeared in. The Eastern Reach used to be the heart of the mining industry on the west side of the mountains, with Skystone Mine providing much of the material for building the streets and homes in Fort Tarsis, but as the Scar population grew, industry halted.

Emerald Abyss
See Cortex Entry: Emerald Abyss for More Details

This forest has the thickest foliage in Northern Bastion, and, while beautiful, has a long history of mysterious disappearances which have only increased since the Heart of Rage erupted. It is also the site of the destroyed Arcanist library of Dunar.

Great Falls Canyon
See Cortex Entry: Great Falls Canyon for More Details

An intricate water system of streams and waterfalls that begins from underneath Fort Tarsis and flows down to the legendary Eddian Grove and onwards through Honor Valley. This area is home to all forms of wildlife, from grabbits and saurian to ursix and tesilars. Mantikars and skorpions are also prone to nesting behind waterfalls.

Fortress of Dawn
See Cortex Entry: Fortress of Dawn for More Details

The most important historical area in Bastion. This subregion includes the imposing structure of the Fortress, the Colossi, as well as training areas which would have been used by lancers learning to pilot the first javelins.
"Gather all ye free people, to the Fortress lined in gold! Gather to sleep without worry, and eat and laugh without care. And gather, like a hand once splayed, to be the fist that will strike the urgoth from this land."
—From The Volume of Tarsis by "Garred"

High Road
See Cortex Entry: High Road for More Details

This strider path to Freemark begins at Fort Tarsis, makes its way past Arath, through Blackshore, and up to the lock just outside Shadowmark. In the early days of human freedom, the High Road had considerable Sentinel support, but between the migration of dangerous wildlife and unstable Shaper ruins, the endeavor was halted, and the Sentinels returned to Antium. The recent issue of Scars locating along the High Road has made travel to the north extremely dangerous.

Monument Watch
See Cortex Entry: Monument Watch for More Details

Home to the massive and impressive, active Shaper relic known as the Monument, a constant place of concern for Bastion. If the relic were ever overpowered by the Anthem, the destruction would be unfathomable. Monument Watch is also known for its high density of nocturnal flora, and the Anzu ruin known as "The Vault."

Ruins of Shadowmark
See Cortex Entry: Ruins of Shadowmark for More Details

Shadowmark existed as a settlement from around 206-458 L.V., with its primary residents being Arcanists dedicated to studying the mysterious ruins in the central lake. When the Heart of Rage erupted, the ground became unstable and Shadowmark began to sink. Residents were determined to stick it out, but when titans from the Heart of Rage burst through the Shadow Lock, the town was considered too dangerous to live in, and Antium arranged an exodus for the citizens.

Valley of Tarsis
See Cortex Entry: Valley of Tarsis for More Details

This valley is the location of the pre-Legion era "Haven," as well as the strider path and lock to Antium. The valley was home to the great agricultural project of the late 300s, the Honor Valley Dam, but with the coming of the Scars, farming became more dangerous and the project was abandoned. Scar skirmishes culminated in the Battle for the Terraces, destroying Fort Tarsis' local food source and leaving the fort completely reliant on imports from Antium for survival.
