Location Hidden Place Spires Anomaly Header Image

Spires Anomaly is a hidden place, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV. This anomaly is a conjunction that takes place in a different reality than the present. So, letting anything within it outside will wreak havoc in Bastion. The anomaly’s Storm Gate—its entrance—is indeed found in Northern Bastion.

History

In the year 468 LV, months after the Heart of Rage was silenced, a Dominion officer by the name Vara Brom disturbed a Shaper ruin to unleash a reality altering cataclysm called the Echo of Reality. Around this time, several storm gates leading to various anomalies showed up in Northern Bastion.

Spires Anomaly started showing up in the Palisades of Idris, a district in the Valley of Tarsis subregion until Echoes of Reality was contained. Since then, the conjunction has showed up in a myriad of locations, but still within Northern Bastion.

During the Season of Skulls Festival of 468 LV, a Shaper relic started causing some disturbance inside the anomaly, creating titans and elementals inside. If these Titans were undefeated, they would have escaped into Northern Bastion to cause chaos. Fortunately, Scars didn’t gate in this time.

Geography and Layout

Spires Anomaly is a Shaper conjunction. This means there are Shaper structures inside it. Apart from this, there are several trees and overgrown vegetation that have taken over this anomaly. Near the walls of this anomaly, water can be seen falling. There is also a very shallow pool of water in the center of the anomaly. All this suggest that the anomaly exists around a vegetation rich area.

The two large Shaper structures, which resemble submerged Shaper Keys, are held together at the top by a cylindrical beam which are responsible for conducting electrical charges to light the structures inside the conjunction. When lit, the structures and other artifacts emit a white light around the circular opening. Because these rods are powered with Shaper energy, they are unstable and create Shaper nodes around them. In fact, the rods themselves dissipate lightning, which can electrocute anyone, including a javelin that touches it.

The ground is solid rock encrusting the Shaper structure. In the center, there is a large Shaper crystal with argent glow. It doesn’t react to the energies around it. The anomaly can become unstable at times making large Shaper crystals show up from the ground, which destabilizes the conjunction. This means if these crystals aren’t destroyed in a limited span of time, the contents of the conjunction will pour out into Bastion.

The Scar, who are usually found in large numbers around Eastern Reach, bordering the Palisades of Idris, found a way to gate into the anomaly, but the reason for this was never revealed. An unstable relic created elemental beings in the conjunction during 468’s Season of Skulls.

  7. Woody Vine

Creatures

The creatures marked with World Encounter Icon and World Event Main Icon are found only through World Encounters and World Events respectively. Those unmarked may also be found in such events, but are usually found on their own. The following types of fauna, Chimera, and Elementals are revealed to be found in Spires Anomaly. There may also be small Insects which are tough to identify. Weaponized and Shaper Corrupt creatures are not listed here

Enemy Encounters

As with all locations of Coda, Spires Anomaly may have hostile forces. Hostile plantlife and animals, if found here, aren't considered as enemy encounters. The enemies marked with World Encounter Icon and World Event Main Icon are found only through World Encounters and World Events respectively. Those unmarked may also be found in such events, but are usually found on their own.

The following types of enemies may be encountered in Spires Anomaly:

Everyone knows what an overload of Shaper energy from a relic looks like—well, maybe not everyone except most Arcanists and many cyphers—but inversions of energy are relatively rare. Such events are referred to as “conjunctions” because to all appearances the energy that normally radiates outward from a Shaper instrument is instead pulled into it and... through to connect some other location.
What location? Where is it going? We have no idea. It may not even be a location within our physical reality. Energy goes in and objects—even living creatures!—come out from wherever it's connecting to. How do conjunctions form? What's their function?
Further study will bring us answers.

Trivia

  • This hidden place or its surroundings will look different during various seasonal times, which includes the presence or absence of various cataclysmic storms.
  • The name of this location is shown when the Freelancer enters it.
  • Palisades of Idris is a wide-open area, with some minor vegetation forms found only around its borders, but Spires Anomaly does have a lot of large vegetation. This is how it is known that the conjunction is from a different reality.
  • During the original full run of Echoes of Reality, a large crystal mound was found deposited above the storm gate that led into this conjunction. It is thought that the crystals growing from this mound was the cause of the destabilizing crystals showing up inside the conjunction. This is not confirmed.
  • There are 3 treasure chests rewards obtainable, if Spires Anomaly (Conjunction) is stabilized and successfully contained.
  • The leaves of the vegetation inside becomes reddish from green, during the time of winter or Icetide.
