South of Fort Tarsis is a special environment, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV. South of Fort Tarsis is a location directly behind the Fort. It comprises of an open grassland, caverns, Urgoth structures, Shaper structures, shallow and deep water pools, lush forests, Human ruins, volcanic and Shaper hazards, resources and much more!
History
The area to the South of Fort Tarsis isn’t charted very well. According to Owen Corley, the maps of this location are sketchy at best. However, there have been several Early Warnings networks setup here to monitor a gravity flipping Shaper relic hidden deep within a Shaper ruin. Another lancer had made it to the ruins in this location, though this person never made it back.
In 468 LV, two years after the most recent failed attempt to Silence the Heart of Rage, the Freelancer had partnered up with Cypher Owen Corley to repair an early warnings network of sensors in this area. The Freelancer then silenced a cataclysm from fully forming and returned to Fort Tarsis.
Geography and Layout
There are several features of this location. Firstly, there is a jungle that has overgrown some post-Legion Era structures and statues built by humans. These plants are mostly dense vines and thickets, with some trees. Further along, several early warnings systems equipment have been established.
Further along, there is an open grassland with lava flowing out of rocks on one side. This lava will burn, but it is not a volcanic eruption. There are many Shaper keys scattered here—fortunately, dormant. Wild animals are seen feeding on the minor vegetation that grows here. The lava that has solidified goes into a crevice. This location has the control radar for the early warnings network.
The crevice is not a special location, unlike the earlies lushness. Igneous rocks pillars of stone have formed here. In areas of darkness, nocturnal and bioluminescent life forms grow. Skorpions tend to live here. There is an early warnings sensor here.
Further along there is more wilderness with two monumental Urgoth statues guarding a waterfall, which is always handy in a pinch. This leads to a canyon, beyond which, more Legion Era structures have been built. There is a deep water lake here. A striking feature here is that many grabbits and indigoes live here. An early warnings sensor has been set here as well.
Beyond here are more human ruins, many even structures clearly built by the Legion of Dawn. However, the jungle has overtaken them. These structures, mostly arch-shaped, are built on solid rocks. However, there is a broken Shaper spine on the ground.
Out of the arches, there are some more overgrown human structures. These are still gilded, and somehow haven’t tarnished. Wyverns have built nests here. There is also a deep-water lake with submerged, but inactive Shaper structures. A final early warnings sensor is setup here.
Going through the underwater system, there is an opening that leads to the outskirts of a Shaper ruin. This has several Shaper structures amid rocky boulders. The entrance to this ruin, a Shaper door is found here. Through this door, there is a series of rings that lead to an active puzzle. Going beyond this puzzle will allow anyone to go underground to a reach a Shaper relic.
The final chamber has lots of water in it. There is a three-point Shaper relic that can flip gravity of waterfalls in this location. This structure is massive—both in length and width. At the end is another Shaper door that leads into a Shaper tunnel, which acts as an exit to this ruin. When exited, more jungle-like wilderness is found. And more importantly, the shining white beacons that are the spires of Fort Tarsis are seen emerging amid the verdant forests.
