Hints and Suggestions

  • The dialog exchange between the characters will change depending on whether single player or multiplayer mode is played.
  • Remember to perform Feats to obtain XP for increasing Pilot Level and receiving Alliance bonus.

Special Instructions

  • The puzzles and special tasks from The Temple of Scar Stronghold remain the same. These must be completed in order to proceed to any subsequent objectives. Visit the appropriate page to see them.
  • Obtained points depend on the multiplier. The score at any instance is the product of the multiplier and the base points of the object or enemy defeated.
  • Multiplier is not applicable for the Shaper Sphere puzzle and the points received are a flat value added to the score.
  • Special Items in the expeditions:
    • 9 Destructible Boxes (3 around each Bonus Arena)
    • 7 Orange Cymatic Notes
    • 3 Cymatic Note Trails
    • 4 Golden Grabbit Summoning Statues
    • 3 Secret Boss Summoning Puzzles
    • 1 Shaper Sphere Puzzle
  • It is possible that if the Bonus Score Multiplier activity (i.e. finishing the bonus arena) is not completed before the Bonus’ timer becomes 00:00, a multiplier is deducted!
  • If the entire team (or squad) is defeated, then there is good chance that (some of) the bonus multiplier(s) rewarded are taken away and become unobtainable. However, if the team is defeated within a bonus arena, then they will be revived in the arena, but a small amount of time is deducted from the bonus score multiplier time.
  • Regular Puzzles and defeating enemies to move to the next location must be done in the same way as the regular stronghold version.
  • Even though Seasonal versions of the strongholds (also called Competitive Strongholds because of the Leaderboards) take place in the same stronghold location with the same geography, the 15 areas are clubbed together into 5 types of Arenas:
    • Beginning Arena: This is where the competitive stronghold starts.
      • Inversions of the week are shown at the beginning.
      • The Arrival Arena is always the Arrival Area of that Stronghold’s location.
    • Bonus Arenas: This is where it is possible to summon a Secret Boss type enemy. There are exactly three such arenas in each competitive stronghold. Four Activities can be performed here:
      • A special puzzle must be completed within a set time to get a multiplier bonus, possible time bonus, and score bonus rewards.
      • A Secret Boss can be summoned, defeating whom, a multiplier bonus and score bonus and a loot drop are rewarded.
      • A hidden Golden Grabbit Summoning Statue can be destroyed for a later activity that will reward with a multiplier and a large score bonus.
    • Betwixt Arenas: These are the intermediate arenas the Arrival Arena and Bonus Arenas and the Boss Arena where additional puzzles may be available.

      • Golden Grabbit Hunt
    • Blind Arena: This is an already existing spot or a new spot in the stronghold. It must satisfy one of the three criteria:
      • It has the Shaper Sphere Puzzle, which otherwise goes unnoticed because of its location.
      • It has a Puzzle or an Activity to further the objective of the expedition but is not a part of any available bonuses.
      • Has enemies that can only be accessed by reaching said spot, but not by completing a puzzle.
    • Boss Arena: This is where the final boss of the stronghold appears, defeating whom within a set time will reward with a multiplier bonus, score bonus and loot and ember drops. This will also end the expedition and give the score total, along with the final crystal rewards.

Guidelines

This expedition is a complicated endeavor. As such, to complete it, a special guideline is established. Follow it for the best results.

There are 36 steps to complete the Seasonal Stronghold, divided into 5 parts:



Part A: Beginning Arena

Bonus Arena 01 Completed

  • Step 07: Apart from the additional activities, there are the usual objectives of defeating any enemies or performing a task shown in the log.
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • Location Details:
  • If the usual objectives are completed before the Bonus Timer 01 reaches 00:00, then additional rewards are earned. Otherwise, only score is received.
  • Once finished, a banner saying Bonus Completed pops up showing the earned rewards.
    • Due to a bug, instead the banner may display Seasonal Completed. This is just a visual glitch and the expedition can be continued.
  • Rewards:
    • Score Bonus: Variable (Obtained from defeating enemies)
    • Multiplier Bonus: +1
    • Timer Bonus: +8 Minutes
    • 1 Stronghold Treasure Chest

Golden Grabbit Summoning Statue 01

  • Step 08: This is the first of the 4 Toy Dog statues required to summon the Golden Grabbit in a special location later.
  • Instantiation Positions: 5. Randomized for each run.
  • Simply find the statue and destroy it.
  • Location Details:
  • The indicator for the destroyed statue is only available in the special location found later where this Golden Grabbit can come out.
  • Once the statue is destroyed, a unique screeching sound is played.
  • There is no reward for destroying this statue.

Cymatic Note Trail 01

  • Step 10: There are 10 Cymatic Notes to Collect in Trail #01.
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • Location Details:
  • Just go through the first Blue Cymatic Note (first one is always blue), then the subsequent Green Cymatic Note will turn into Blue.
  • Then keep going through the Blue Note and repeat the process until the final Green Cymatic Note converts into a Purple Cymatic Note.
  • Even if one Blue Note is missed and a subsequent Green Note is collected, then the conversion breaks and the subsequent notes will not turn blue and consequently, the final note will not become purple.
  • Each Cymatic Note has a unique sound associated with it, which allows for a better cognition of what has been collected.
  • Rewards:
    • Purple Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 250 per note (without multiplier)
    • Blue Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 50 per note (without multiplier)
    • Green Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 10 per note (without multiplier)
  • Special Instructions:
    • All 10 notes can be collected whether or not they turn into blue or purple. However, collecting Blue Notes and Purple Notes will give higher points, especially when coupled with the score multiplier.
    • This Cymatic Note Trail can be performed at any time before starting the Final Boss Fight. It is best to do them when there is a maximum number of multipliers collected before entering the Final Boss Arena, especially when in teams.
    • If doing the expedition alone, then it is best to complete at this instance before moving ahead.
    • Cymatic Note Trails and Destructible Boxes are often found in close proximity. So they can be clubbed together to save time.

Part C: Second Bonus


Bonus Timer 02

  • Step 12: Bonus Timer Starts for Bonus Arena #02 as soon as the broken Shaper Spine is crossed when going into the Posterior Relic Area.

Secret Boss Summoning Puzzle 02

  • Step 13: The puzzle to summon the second Secret Boss can be found in the Generator Room.
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • Location Details:
  • Generator Room
  • WEIGHTED PRESSURE PLATES: To complete this Secret Boss Summoning Puzzle, simply locate make sure all Pressure Plates in the lower level of the Generator Room are weighed down using a Weight Stone, in any order.
    • There are 4 pressure plates, and weight stones.
    • Carry the weight stones, all found in the upper level of the Generator Room and place them on a pressure plate. Repeat for all 4 weight stones.
    • The positions of the pressure plates and the weight stones are fixed
    • Weighed plates glow green. When all plates are weighed down, the plates glow red and summon the secret boss.
    • Secret Boss will spawn in one of these 2 locations, check the Indication Triangle Markers:
      • Upper Level between the walls
      • Lower Level in front of the ramp that leads to the upper level.
    • It is recommended to summon the Secret Boss, and defeat this enemy immediately, as the titan carries more points for defeat and a higher multiplier means higher points.
    • One Legendary type secret boss enemy is summoned and is randomly chosen among the following:

Bonus Arena 02 Completed

  • Step 14: Apart from the additional activities, there are the usual objectives of defeating any enemies or performing a task shown in the log. In this case, any Scar forces and powering up the generator using 3 Fuel Canisters
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • If the usual objectives are completed before the Bonus Timer 02 reaches 00:00, then additional rewards are earned. Otherwise, only score and timer bonus are received.
    • The multiplier may be reduced by 1, if incomplete within the bonus time. This is likely a bug that was never fixed.
  • Once finished, a banner saying Bonus Completed pops up showing the earned rewards.
    • Due to a bug, instead the banner may display Seasonal Completed. This is just a visual glitch and the expedition can be continued.
  • Rewards:
    • Score Bonus: Variable (Obtained from defeating enemies)
    • Guaranteed 2 loot drops from defeating the Ancient Ash Titan
    • Multiplier Bonus: +1

Golden Grabbit Summoning Statue 02

  • Step 15: This is the second of the 4 Toy Dog statues required to summon the Golden Grabbit in a special location later.
  • Instantiation Positions: 5. Randomized for each run. (4 found so far)
  • Simply find the statue and destroy it.
  • Location Details:

  • The indicator for the destroyed statue is only available in the special location found later where this Golden Grabbit can come out.
  • Once the statue is destroyed, a unique screeching sound is played.

  • Step 22: The puzzle to summon the third Secret Boss can be found in the Gated Chamber.

  • EXPLODING ROCK CRYSTALS: To complete this Secret Boss Summoning Puzzle, find and carry Blue Explosives and set them on Rock Crystals. Then, detonated them by damaging them or waiting for them to self-detonate.

Bonus Arena 03 Completed

  • Step 23: Apart from the additional activities, there are the usual objectives of defeating any enemies or performing a task shown in the log.
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • If the usual objectives are completed before the Bonus Timer 03 reaches 00:00, then additional rewards are earned. Otherwise, only score is received.
    • The multiplier may be reduced by 1, if incomplete within the bonus time. This is likely a bug that was never fixed.
  • Once finished, a banner saying Bonus Completed pops up showing the earned rewards.
    • Due to a bug, instead the banner may display Seasonal Completed. This is just a visual glitch and the expedition can be continued.
  • Rewards:
    • Score Bonus: Variable (Obtained from defeating enemies)
    • Defeating Second Wave of Scars: Guaranteed 1 loot drop each (Conditional)

Golden Grabbit Summoning Statue 03

  • Step 24: This is the third of the 4 Toy Dog statues required to summon the Golden Grabbit in a special location later.

  • Simply find the statue and destroy it.
  • Location Details:
  • The indicator for the destroyed statue is only available in the special location found later where this Golden Grabbit can come out.
  • Once the statue is destroyed, a unique screeching sound is played.
  • There is no reward for destroying this statue.

  • This note trail can be clubbed with the destructible box sets. It is recommended to do this after collecting the Orange Cymatic Note 06. But if constrained by time, simply start and collect the orange note as the Pillar Atrium is reached.
  • Just go through the first Blue Cymatic Note (first one is always blue), then the subsequent Green Cymatic Note will turn into Blue.
  • Then keep going through the Blue Note and repeat the process until the final Green Cymatic Note converts into a Purple Cymatic Note.
  • Even if one Blue Note is missed and a subsequent Green Note is collected, then the conversion breaks and the subsequent notes will not turn blue and consequently, the final note will not become purple.
  • Each Cymatic Note has a unique sound associated with it, which allows for a better cognition of what has been collected.
  • Rewards:
    • Purple Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 250 per note (without multiplier)
    • Blue Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 50 per note (without multiplier)
    • Green Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 10 per note (without multiplier)
  • Special Instructions:

Shaper Sphere Puzzle

  • Step 31: A Shaper Sphere can be solved for additional points to the score.

  • Location Details:
  • Solving the Puzzle:
    • Place the javelin on one of the 3x3 (nine) Red Spots (jump/walk/fly).
    • Staying on a Red Spot will make the vertically and horizontally adjacent spots Green and vice-verse. An audio cue is heard when the color changes.
    • The Spot on which the javelin stands will change to opposite color each time it is touched, even slightly, so be cautious of abrupt movement.
    • The Diagonal Spots are not affected by the movement.
    • Keep placing the javelin on various spots such that Eight out of Nine Spots become Green, making sure that the central spot is Green.
    • Make sure that any one of the four corner spots is Red and the rest are Green.
    • Place yourself on the remaining Red Spot, which has to be in one of the four corners.
    • A puzzle completion audio cue will be heard along with the blinking of all nine spots.
  • When the puzzle is solved, and Orange Cymatic Notes are rewarded from inside the Shaper Sphere.
  • It is possible to complete this puzzle in as few as 4 moves.

Golden Grabbit Hunt

  • Step 33: This is where the Golden Grabbit can be summoned to obtain special rewards.
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • Location Details:
  • Make sure the previous 3 Golden Grabbit Summoning Statues are destroyed by taking a look at the Indication Triangle Markers.
  • If any of the three are missing, go to that particular Bonus Arena and destroy it. The triangles are in ascending order of the Bonus Arena.
  • In the beginning of the Long Tunnel, if the first 3 triangles are green, destroy the statue directly under the fourth red triangle. It will immediately turn green and summon the golden Grabbit towards the exit of the Cavernous Atrium.
  • Note that at this point, if statue #01 and #02 have not been destroyed, it is not possible to return to any area before Relic Atrium. So the Golden Grabbit cannot be summoned.
  • Mind that if the Golden Grabbit warps to the egde of the dormant cenotaph and you follow it, it could force you to the Final Boss arena and you will lose the rewards associated with this activity.
  • The Golden Grabbit is a Walking Lootbox and an Apex enemy. It has a large health pool. Damage it until its health pool becomes nearly zero, at which point it will teleport and drop several Cymatic Notes as rewards.
  • Wait until the multiplier bonus is received and then collect all the cymatic notes.
  • If the notes are left behind so as to collect the final Orange Note and/or Final Boss’ defeat to increase points, they will have disappear. So it is important to collect them before moving to the final boss fight.
  • Rewards:
    • Purple Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 250 per note (without multiplier)
    • Blue Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 50 per note (without multiplier)
    • Green Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 1 per note (without multiplier)

End of Third Bonus

  • It is possible to go back to previous locations up until this point, if any activity is missed, or something must be collected, or some enemies must be destroyed. However, once the Boss Arena is reached, it is a point of no return.

Bonus Timer Boss

Final Defense Destroyed

  • Step 35: There is the End of the Line Defense by the entrance of the Construct. Without defeating this army of Scars, it is not possible to enter the Construct.

  • The moment the Final Atrium is reached, the bonus timer for the Boss Fight starts.
  • There are no rewards for destroying the turrets, but progress can be made to the next location.

Final Boss Fight

  • Step 36: The Boss fight is against Scelos

  • Location Details:
  • When the Monitor activates from the Fire Arena to the Acid Arena and the other way around, the Major Chasm is revealed as a Betwixt Arena.
  • The Major Chasm contains a couple of puzzles and must be completed between these two times to maximize the score

End of Boss Fight

  • Defeating the Monitor before the Bonus timer becomes 00:00, will reward with additional rewards
  • Location Details:

    • Multiplier Bonus: +1
    • Score Bonus: Additional remaining time is converted to points
  • This marks the end of the Final Boss Fight Bonus.

End of Expedition

  • At the end of expedition, a successful performance will have provided a 16x multiplier, once the Final Boss is defeated.
  • An expedition complete banner along with the score and crystal rewards will show up at the end of the expedition.

Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)

  • This was the third Seasonal Stronghold to be released.
  • This seasonal stronghold is the one with the highest number of target enemies at 9.
  • This is the only seasonal stronghold with a Shaper Sphere Puzzle that does not make use of Legion Symbolism and uses unique new assets not found in the game until Icetide.
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold to not feature any kind of creature that can receive damage and reward points, be it fauna or chimera or even elementals.
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold where guaranteed loot drops do not exist from non-Secret Boss or Boss type enemies.
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold where all three Bonus Arenas have a Secret Boss Summoning Puzzle that make use of new resources (i.e., already existing resources like echoes aren’t used in the puzzles).
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold where there is a forced pre-combat before the Final Boss fight during which the Bonus Timer for the boss fight begins.
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold where the Bonus Timer for the final boss battle begins much before the Final Boss shows up. The reason for this is unknown.

Notes and Remarks

  • The maximum time is 20 minutes of staying inside the server, which can be increased by completing additional tasks.
  • The dialogs mentioned in the script can vary across different play-throughs and different repetition of the game modes. The dialog will be taken from a pool that get rotated in-game. The script mentioned here is from one such instance only.
