Special Instructions

  • The puzzles and special tasks from The Sunken Cell Stronghold remain the same. These must be completed in order to proceed to any subsequent objectives. Visit the appropriate page to see them.
  • Obtained points depend on the multiplier. The score at any instance is the product of the multiplier and the base points of the object or enemy defeated.
  • Multiplier is not applicable for the Shaper Sphere puzzle and the points received are a flat value added to the score.
  • Special Items in the expeditions:
    • 9 Destructible Boxes (3 around each Bonus Arena)
    • 7 Orange Cymatic Notes
    • 3 Cymatic Note Trails
    • 4 Golden Grabbit Summoning Statues
    • 3 Secret Boss Summoning Puzzles
    • 1 Shaper Sphere Puzzle
  • It is possible that if the Bonus Score Multiplier activity (i.e. finishing the bonus arena) is not completed before the Bonus’ timer becomes 00:00, a multiplier is deducted!
  • If the entire team (or squad) is defeated, then there is good chance that (some of) the bonus multiplier(s) rewarded are taken away and become unobtainable. However, if the team is defeated within a bonus arena, then they will be revived in the arena, but a small amount of time is deducted from the bonus score multiplier time.
  • Regular Puzzles and defeating enemies to move to the next location must be done in the same way as the regular stronghold version.
  • Even though Seasonal versions of the strongholds (also called Competitive Strongholds because of the Leaderboards) take place in the same stronghold location with the same geography, the 15 areas are clubbed together into 5 types of Arenas:
    • Beginning Arena: This is where the competitive stronghold starts.
      • Inversions of the week are shown at the beginning.
      • The Arrival Arena is always the Arrival Area of that Stronghold’s location.
    • Bonus Arenas: This is where it is possible to summon a Secret Boss type enemy. There are exactly three such arenas in each competitive stronghold. Four Activities can be performed here:
      • A special puzzle must be completed within a set time to get a multiplier bonus, possible time bonus, and score bonus rewards.
      • A Secret Boss can be summoned, defeating whom, a multiplier bonus and score bonus and a loot drop are rewarded.
      • A hidden Golden Grabbit Summoning Statue can be destroyed for a later activity that will reward with a multiplier and a large score bonus.
    • Betwixt Arenas: These are the intermediate arenas the Arrival Arena and Bonus Arenas and the Boss Arena where additional puzzles may be available.

    • Blind Arena: This is an already existing spot or a new spot in the stronghold. It must satisfy one of the three criteria:
      • It has the Shaper Sphere Puzzle, which otherwise goes unnoticed because of its location.
      • It has a Puzzle or an Activity to further the objective of the expedition but is not a part of any available bonuses.
      • Has enemies that can only be accessed by reaching said spot, but not by completing a puzzle.
    • Boss Arena: This is where the final boss of the stronghold appears, defeating whom within a set time will reward with a multiplier bonus, score bonus and loot and ember drops. This will also end the expedition and give the score total, along with the final crystal rewards.

Guidelines

This expedition is a complicated endeavor. As such, to complete it, a special guideline is established. Follow it for the best results.

There are 38 steps to complete the Seasonal Stronghold, divided into 5 parts:



Part A: Beginning Arena


Start

  • Step 03: Start the objectives. This is where you fly to the next location to start performing any activity that gives points to the score meter (seen on the left side).

Orange Cymatic Note 01

  • Step 04: The first of the seven Orange Cymatic Notes is found immediately after the objectives are started and entering the subsequent area.

  • Step 06: The second of the seven Orange Cymatic Notes can be found before doing the next objective or along with the previous task

  • Since the area is quite large, it is recommended to club Orange Cymatic Note 02 and Secret Boss Summoning Puzzle 01 together, as they are close to each other.

Cymatic Note Trail 01

  • Step 07: There are 10 Cymatic Notes to Collect in Trail #01.
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • Location Details:
  • Just go through the first Blue Cymatic Note (first one is always blue), then the subsequent Green Cymatic Note will turn into Blue.
  • Then keep going through the Blue Note and repeat the process until the final Green Cymatic Note converts into a Purple Cymatic Note.
  • Even if one Blue Note is missed and a subsequent Green Note is collected, then the conversion breaks and the subsequent notes will not turn blue and consequently, the final note will not become purple.
  • Each Cymatic Note has a unique sound associated with it, which allows for a better cognition of what has been collected.
  • Rewards:
    • Purple Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 250 per note (without multiplier)
    • Blue Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 50 per note (without multiplier)
    • Green Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 10 per note (without multiplier)
  • Special Instructions:
    • All 10 notes can be collected whether or not they turn into blue or purple. However, collecting Blue Notes and Purple Notes will give higher points, especially when coupled with the score multiplier.
    • This Cymatic Note Trail can be performed at any time before starting the Final Boss Fight. It is best to do them when there is a maximum number of multipliers collected before entering the Final Boss Arena, especially when in teams.
    • If doing the expedition alone, then it is best to complete at this instance before moving ahead.
    • Cymatic Note Trails and Destructible Boxes are often found in close proximity. So they can be clubbed together to save time.

Bonus Timer 01

Open Shaper Door B

  • Location Details:

Golden Grabbit Summoning Statue 01

  • Step 11: This is the first of the 4 Toy Dog statues required to summon the Golden Grabbit in a special location later.
  • Because the First Bonus occurs over a space of three different levels, it is better to destroy the statue immediately as it is seen, because going back will cost time.
  • Instantiation Positions: 5. Randomized for each run.
  • Simply find the statue and destroy it.
  • Location Details:
  • The indicator for the destroyed statue is only available in the special location found later where this Golden Grabbit can come out.
  • Once the statue is destroyed, a unique screeching sound is played.
  • There is no reward for destroying this statue.

Open Shaper Door C

  • Defeat all Dominion enemies and any elementals to open the door to the relic tunnel

Secret Boss Summoning Puzzle 01

  • Step 14: The puzzle to summon the first Secret Boss can be found in the Relic Tunnel area, on the other side of the Shaper Tunnel with the Control Rod Relic.
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • Location Details:
  • MATCHING TUBE INDICATORS: To complete the puzzle take match the green triangle at the ceiling of the volatile relic (which is gating-in enemies) to the corresponding Control Rod.
    • The triangle indicators in the relic’s ceiling show 4 as green and 3 as red.
    • There is a red triangle beside the control rod (colored tube).
    • Simply “submerge” the control rod that corresponds to the 4 green triangles to summon the secret boss.
    • Secret Boss will spawn inside the Gate opened in the center of the relic.
      • It is recommended to summon the Secret Boss, and continue to finish the puzzle by submerging the 7 tubes to go to the next area, as the bonus timer may expire.
      • Immediately after submerging the 4th green triangle that corresponds to the pattern on the relic’s ceiling, wait until the secret boss spawns. The moment this secret boss spawns, complete submerging the remaining 3 rods as quickly as possible to save time.
      • The patterns begin from the first triangle that is directly opposite to the Shaper Tunnel and designated the number “1” and continues until “7” is reached in counter-clockwise direction.
    • Patterns will only begin from positions “1” or “2” or “3”
      • While there is not proof for the pattern beginning from position “4” so far. If it starts with position 4, the pattern will always be 4567.
      • There are a total of 840 patterns possible.
      • The availability of the puzzle can be checked by looking at any red triangle by the control rod or the ceiling of the relic. But note that if the puzzle is completed, the indicators on the ceiling will remain the same pattern, so the tubes are a better indicator.
    • One Legendary type secret boss enemy is summoned and is always the same:

Bonus Arena 01 Completed

  • Step 17: Apart from the additional activities, there are the usual objectives of defeating any enemies or performing a task shown in the log in the Third Conduit area.

  • Location Details:
  • If the usual objectives are completed before the Bonus Timer 01 reaches 00:00, then additional rewards are earned. Otherwise, only score is received.
  • Once finished, a banner saying Bonus Completed pops up showing the earned rewards.
    • Due to a bug, instead the banner may display Seasonal Completed. This is just a visual glitch and the expedition can be continued.
  • Rewards:
    • Score Bonus: Variable (Obtained from defeating enemies)
    • Defeating Legendary Storm Brute #1 and #2: Guaranteed 2 loot drops each
      • 4 loot drops each is possible on the below terms
      • The Brute’s control collar must be destroyed and its second health bar must be immediately depleted.

End of First Bonus

  • Location Details:
  • All enemies in the Third Conduit area must be defeated within the bonus time to complete it successfully.

Bonus Arena 02 Completed

  • Step 23: Apart from the additional activities, there are the usual objectives of defeating any enemies or performing a task shown in the log. In this case, any Scar forces and powering up the generator using 3 Fuel Canisters
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • If the usual objectives are completed before the Bonus Timer 02 reaches 00:00, then additional rewards are earned. Otherwise, only score and timer bonus are received.
    • The multiplier may be reduced by 1, if incomplete within the bonus time. This is likely a bug that was never fixed.
  • Once finished, a banner saying Bonus Completed pops up showing the earned rewards.
    • Due to a bug, instead the banner may display Seasonal Completed. This is just a visual glitch and the expedition can be continued.

    • Score Bonus: Variable (Obtained from defeating enemies)
    • Guaranteed 2 loot drops from defeating the Ancient Ash Titan

Golden Grabbit Summoning Statue 02

  • Step 24: This is the second of the 4 Toy Dog statues required to summon the Golden Grabbit in a special location later.

  • The indicator for the destroyed statue is only available in the special location found later where this Golden Grabbit can come out.

Shaper Sphere Puzzle

  • Step 25: A Shaper Sphere can be solved for additional points to the score.

    • Find various Legion Symbolism plates and insert them in the empty spaces of the puzzle
    • There can only be 4 symbols each run
    • Plates must be inserted such that they form exactly 4x4 grid of unique symbols
    • Symbols must not repeat across any horizontal, vertical, and diagonal line
  • Essentially this is a 4x4 Sudoku-X puzzle
  • When the puzzle is solved, and Orange Cymatic Notes are rewarded from inside the Shaper Sphere.

  • Step 26: There are 10 Cymatic Notes to Collect in Trail #03.
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • Location Details:
  • Just go through the first Blue Cymatic Note (first one is always blue), then the subsequent Green Cymatic Note will turn into Blue.
  • Then keep going through the Blue Note and repeat the process until the final Green Cymatic Note converts into a Purple Cymatic Note.
  • Even if one Blue Note is missed and a subsequent Green Note is collected, then the conversion breaks and the subsequent notes will not turn blue and consequently, the final note will not become purple.
  • Each Cymatic Note has a unique sound associated with it, which allows for a better cognition of what has been collected.
  • Rewards:
    • Purple Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 250 per note (without multiplier)
    • Blue Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 50 per note (without multiplier)
    • Green Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 10 per note (without multiplier)
  • Special Instructions:
    • All 10 notes can be collected whether or not they turn into blue or purple. However, collecting Blue Notes and Purple Notes will give higher points, especially when coupled with the score multiplier.
    • This Cymatic Note Trail can be only be performed in between the Final Boss Fight. It is best to do collect the final Orange Cymatic Note and then complete this trail.
    • If doing the expedition alone, then it is best to complete at this instance before moving ahead.

End of Third Bonus

  • After completing finishing the objectives and the puzzles, head down to The Conduit's Exit for the Final Boss Fight.
  • Location Details:
  • Once deactivated, any javelin can fly and move to the next Arena.
  • This marks the end of the Third Bonus.
  • It is possible to go back to previous locations up until this point, if any activity is missed, or something must be collected, or some enemies must be destroyed. However, once the Boss Arena is reached, it is a point of no return.

Bonus Timer Boss

  • Step 36: Bonus Timer Starts for Boss Arena as soon as the Fire Area of the Cenotaph Ruins is reached.

Golden Grabbit Hunt

  • Step 37: This is where the Golden Grabbit can be summoned to obtain special rewards.
  • Instantiation Positions: 1. Not Randomized for each run.
  • Location Details:
  • Make sure the previous 3 Golden Grabbit Summoning Statues are destroyed by taking a look at the Indication Triangle Markers.
  • If any of the three are missing, go to that particular Bonus Arena and destroy it. The triangles are in ascending order of the Bonus Arena.
  • In the beginning of the Long Tunnel, if the first 3 triangles are green, destroy the statue directly under the fourth red triangle. It will immediately turn green and summon the golden Grabbit towards the exit of the Cavernous Atrium.
  • Note that at this point, if statue #01 or #02 or #03 have not been destroyed, it is not possible to return to any area inside Harken's Facility. So the Golden Grabbit cannot be summoned.
  • The Golden Grabbit is a Walking Lootbox and an Apex enemy. It has a large health pool. Damage it until its health pool becomes nearly zero, at which point it will teleport and drop several Cymatic Notes as rewards.
  • Notes can be collected quickly after defeating the Final Boss for a higher multiplier bonus to them.
  • Rewards:
    • Purple Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 250 per note (without multiplier)
    • Blue Cymatic Note Score Bonus: 50 per note (without multiplier)

Final Boss Fight

  • When the Monitor activates from the Fire Arena to the Acid Arena and the other way around, the Major Chasm is revealed as a Betwixt Arena.
  • The Major Chasm contains a couple of puzzles and must be completed between these two times to maximize the score

End of Boss Fight

  • Defeating the Monitor before the Bonus timer becomes 00:00, will reward with additional rewards
  • Location Details:
  • Rewards:
    • Multiplier Bonus: +1
    • Score Bonus: Additional remaining time is converted to points
  • This marks the end of the Final Boss Fight Bonus.

End of Expedition

  • At the end of expedition, a successful performance will have provided a 16x multiplier, once the Final Boss is defeated.
  • An expedition complete banner along with the score and crystal rewards will show up at the end of the expedition.
  • Crystals will have been added to the currency list and can be checked in the Seasonal Store
  • The expedition can be redone to optimize the run for maximizing the score.

Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)

  • This was the second Seasonal Stronghold to be released.
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold where guaranteed loot drops exist from non-Apex or non-Secret Boss or Boss type enemies.
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold where the first secret boss summoning puzzle is not the Red Cymatic Notes Puzzle. Instead it appears as the second puzzle.
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold where there the Golden Grabbit and the Final boss share the same spawn location.
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold where there are more than 4 spawn locations for an Orange Cymatic Note. It is the Orange Note #07 with 10 randomized spots.
  • This is the only Seasonal Stronghold where a non-Scar or a non-Dominion type Bonus Arena Secret Boss can be summoned, and it is a chimera at that: Legendary Ash Brute.
  • This is the only stronghold where there is a chance to summon one of six types of Dominion Heavy/High-rank enemy as a secret boss.
