Hints and Suggestions
- Summoning the Secret Boss:
- Secret Boss: Valkyrie Magnus
- Summoning method: He can be summoned by submerging all 7 control rods, exposing the central crystal and destroying it immediately within the first minute of entering Ring of Magnus. Otherwise, Magnus will not show up. Magnus and Dominion Fury are mutually exclusive.
- Rewards: 2000 Points to the score.
- If the Freelancer finishes submerging all 7 control rods after the first minute of entire Ring of Magnus, the Valkyrie Officer will not show up, but instead, a Dominion Fury will show up after defeating several hordes of enemies.
- Solving the puzzle
- Simply submerge the 7 glowing rods inside by interacting with them.
- If there is a long time taken to submerge them, the rods will start coming out, and the process will have to be repeated again.
- There are red triangle shaped indicators around the Central Crystal that will turn green when a rod is submerged, but become red again if they come out.
- It is always recommended that there be 4 Freelancers in the team to do this event.
- It is still possible to complete this event with only 1 Freelancer, however.
- If the Rift at the center of the event opens, the stability collapses, but the score multiplier doubles. Destroying it will bring back the stability and the score multiplier will return to what it was at the beginning of the event.
- Defeat enemies with armor such as the Dominion Storm Brute, Dominion Frost Brute, Turrets, and Dominion Fury using Armor Buster, Acid, or at least Fire type Damage.
- Defeat enemies with shields such as Dominion Fury, Dominion Ash Valkyrie, Dominion Frost Valkyrie, Dominion Storm Valkyrie, or Dominion Elementalist using Shield Breaker, Lightning, or at least Ice type Damage.
- Enemies with regular (red) health can be defeated using any damage type.
- Summoning the Valkyrie, but not defeating him until the very last moment before defeating Vara is the best strategy for this event.

Quest Chain
This expedition is a part of the Echoes of Reality Storyline. When the storyline is completed, an appropriate challenge is also completed, which will reward the Freelancer. The following are the related quests in order for this storyline:
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- Collecting Cymatic Notes of any rarity (color) will stabilize the Freelancer’s javelin.
- Defeating the Secret Boss marked by
target enemy icon will not provide any loot drops. However, it will directly give 2,000 points (before multiplier is applied). - Ring of Magnus was called “Eye of Magnus” in Anthem PTS—the Play Test Server version of Anthem.
- Ring of Magnus was the first event available during the original run of Echoes of Reality.

Briefing
The Freelancer flies out of the Pocket of Stable Reality in Armas Bay to reach Ring of Magnus.
- Faye: "You’re close to another crystal."
Investigate Area
The Freelancer mut explore the area to find out more about how to stop the Echo of Reality.
- The Freelancer: "Faye? There’s a Shaper ruin here before that definitely wasn’t there breofre."
- Faye: "Vara succeeded. At least a little bit. It just doesn’t extend very far yet."
- The Freelancer: "Why would she make a Shaper ruin."
- Faye: "If I had to guess? That’s what she thinks of when she imagines “controlling the world.”"
- The Freelancer: "So the ruin is important, then."
- Faye: "Whatever is here, will likely help silence this Cataclysm."
In Expedition
The Freelancer observes several control rods scattered across this “ruin.” The Freelancer must stabilize them by submerging them inside their posts. While fighting hordes of Dominion Enemies. If the rift at the center closes, Faye will give a heads up.
- Faye: "The pocket of stable reality collapsed. Vara or the Cataclysm—is still trying to keep it at bay."
Faye will not give any suggestions on what to do at any point. The Freelancer submerges all seven control rods. When all 7 rods are submerged
- Faye: "You’ve got a clear shot at the crystal."
Destroy Crystal
The Freelancer must destroy the Central Crystal.
- Faye: "The whole Cataclysm reacted to that."
Vara becomes aware of the crystal’s destruction.
- Vara Brom: "Unwise. Do you even know what you’re doing?"
At this point, Valkyrie Magnus, a Valkyrie Offier can show up if the condition to summon the Secret Boss is satisfied.
- Valkyrie Magnus: "How dare you challenge the spear."
The Freelancer can fight Magnus and defeat him at any point during the run in the cataclysm—there is a choice: defeating will give additional points. The Freelancer defeats Magnus.
- Valkyrie Magnus: "Not like this!"
Post Expedition
A Tier-3 Treasure Chest shows up. If opened, the Freelancer can collect a mixture of loot and embers. The Freelancer can go to the next event or go to fight Vara.
Notes and Remarks
- This event is active by default within the original version of Echoes of Reality.
- This is usually the first recommended event to be performed among the eight.
- The dialogs mentioned in the script can vary across different play-throughs and different repetition of the game modes. The dialog will be taken from a pool that get rotated in-game. The script mentioned here is from one such instance.
