Artinia the Sharpshooter (1)

See Cortex Entry: Artinia the Sharpshooter (1) for More Details

"...with Vassa's students, to watch the stars for signs of the General's return. Her keen eyes and perfect calm shall protect their search for truth long after the rest of us have turned to dust."

Liatrelle's Text Fragment

"If it's in the Bullet Mires, we're never going to find it. I lost my own javelin in those ruins once, and it took me three months to spot where I'd left it."

Regulator Note

Cariff the Tactician (1)

See Cortex Entry: Cariff the Tactician (1) for More Details

"Let him stand guard upon the battlefield where once we fought side-by-side to end the urgoth threat forever. Without him, it would have been the tomb for all the Legion."

Liatrelle's Text Fragment

"The battle she's talking about had to be at Sanctuary, right? Isn't that the old tale?"

Fort Tarsis Prison Block (2)

See Cortex Entry: Fort Tarsis Prison Block (2) for More Details

The Fort has a prison? Where? I've never seen it. Who do they keep there? Is it open for tours? I never heard of anyone being locked up for anything. I heard this Regulator guy, Vonnie, got two months of community service cleaning the courtyard one time for smuggling a live baby ursix into the Fort. I mean, I never saw him in the courtyard, but I'm pretty sure that's true.

(The following notes were recovered from a dead courier by Sentinel Dinix. Their author has not been located.).

Sitting here, looking at this tracking device glued to my nipple, and wondering where I glitched up.

As Zhim puts it, this is my "last chance." Posing as a hired gun, I'm to escort a strider across Bastion to the Antium Lock, and fight off anyone in the way. There, I'll hijack the strider, kill the crew, and transfer it to Zhim's axe-men. My pay is a "retirement" package and a one-way Regulator escort to the Mirelands. Guess I pissed Zhim off.

Never said why she wanted the strider. Must be important. Because she glued this tracker to my nipple.

It was my last good nipple, and I shall sorely miss it

The family woke me later. They cried and thanked me for saving them. Then they took me down to the hatch. When they opened it... the strider was crossing a vast grassland.

The Great Expanse.

They had no idea that I'd lied to them. That I'd been planted there by Zhim to kill this little family and take their treasure. Give it to Zhim as payment for my unsatisfactory service as a Regulator smuggler.

Sala was holding my leg. Only then did I notice my other leg. Amputated at the hip. They said it was infected from a stab wound I'd taken in the fight.

They saved my life.

Plan's working out so far. Got hired on the strider. Met the captain and crew. Three adults, two children, one infant. Nice little family.

Shame about that. Even if they get past Zhim's Regulators, and me, for that matter, they're all too green for this. Their destination is some place east of Bastion. Outlaws or Scars would normally get 'em.

Anyway... just gotta keep my head down. Get them to Antium Lock. Do my job. Keep playing the emotionally distant, crabby gunslinger.

Got Nolin to take a weaving route to the Antium Lock. Made up a story about outlaws chasing. They've got no idea how bad it truly is. If that huntress and her Regulator buddies catch us, our bodies will feed the wolven.

I kept the stab wound a secret, but it's turning funny colors. Might be imagining it, but I'm having trouble with my eyes. It's all gone so wrong.

Trying to focus on finding the tracker. Maybe she put one on the strider, maybe it's a bluff. Somehow... I have to get us through the Antium Lock. Somehow. Before Zhim's thugs catch us.

Gawnes the Blademaster (1)

See Cortex Entry: Gawnes the Blademaster (1) for More Details

"Lay him to rest beside our great stronghold. He shall watch over the approach in death as he did so often in life. Blade at the ready, waiting to greet aspirants with a challenge.”

Liatrelle's Text Fragment

"Couldn't get close enough to investigate that cavern. Too much wildlife. Have to send suits to the Fortress to check it out."

Mail: Fort Bulletin: Trade Update

See Cortex Entry: Mail: Fort Bulletin: Trade Update for More Details

Recent stability in local trade routes—which some credit to efforts and alliances made by the Freelancers—has brought a small influx of prosperity to Fort Tarsis. Some say there has been an influx in Regulators as well, but these claims are as yet unfounded.

Sentinel Vule has issued a statement reminding the populace that, while positive developments should be celebrated, it's tempting to ignore exploited loopholes during such times. He continued that no matter how "fun or frivolous," it's the people's responsibility to ensure newly acquired items have arrived to the fort through legitimate means.

Post-op Report

See Cortex Entry: Post-op Report for More Details

Nice work on the first heist, people. Everyone except for Chaingun Morro did a great job of blending in, and we got the strider out with only a small complication caused by Chaingun screaming like a terrified child and throwing a crate at a bunch of Sentinels as we left. That crate comes out of your cut, Chaingun.
The bad news is that most of the loot seems to be Icetide decorations. We'll get in touch with some Regulators and find someone to buy all this seasonal crap.

Princess Zhim (1)

See Cortex Entry: Princess Zhim (1) for More Details

Even for a Regulator boss, Zhim has been particularly hard to catch. Tenacious, clever, and bold, she has eluded authorities all over Bastion. Zhim's recent hijacking of transports from Antium has worsened our grain shortage. As if the Scar problem wasn't enough, now Fort Tarsis must deal with the selfishness of this "Princess" and her fellow thieves.

Princess Zhim (2)

See Cortex Entry: Princess Zhim (2) for More Details

Hey Kale,
So, we're supposed to catch a mantikar. What do you suppose Zhim's going to do with it, anyway? Make it one of her pets? Those stinging insects that swarm out of it can't exactly be put in a cage. So… what should we do? I say we just go out and pretend we were looking for a mantikar. She'll never know.
Paxia.

Regulators (1)

See Cortex Entry: Regulators (1) for More Details

An organized criminal group that deals in smuggling, gambling, theft, extortion, and other illegal activity. While not as ruthless as outlaws, the Regulators are still dangerous and operate outside civil society while manipulating others for profit. The recent closings of strider locks and a downturn in the safety of roads has limited legal trade and made the Regulators rich.

Regulators (2)

See Cortex Entry: Regulators (2) for More Details

We Regulators gave you protection. We got you good stuff for cheap so you could sell it. You're a rich man because of our stock… and this is how you repay us? By singin' like a saurian to the Sentinels? Bad move, my friend. Very bad move.

Tracking number: 3476.

Name of Complainant: Pirndel Blatch.

Address: #18, North Wall. Fort Tarsis

Complaint: I think my neighbor is a Regulator

Comments: I've noticed strange comings and goings at my neighbor's place over the past few weeks. No activity during the day, but then LOTS of activity with shady characters a few nights a week. There's a strange smell coming from their apartment (#19 North Wall) that I think is stinkhand. As you know, stinkhand is banned from Fort Tarsis because of its awful smell, and who would have access to that except Regulators? Thank you for your haste in this matter.

The Shrine (1)

See Cortex Entry: The Shrine (1) for More Details

You will often find Regulator camps in natural cave systems. They set up quickly and tear down just as fast. This system allows them to move incredible amounts of contraband in a single day. The difficulty is knowing if any given cave is a storehouse of Shaper relics or a gambling den. Often, the line between them is blurred.

In life, she was the rock upon which we all stood. Let her hold up the watchtower forever more. With her strength to support it, the pass shall never again be threatened."

Liatrelle's Text Fragment

"The Legion watchtower became Fort Tarsis, didn't it? Has anyone seen signs of this tomb nearby?"
