Anyone who operates a machine that has an interface to the Gateway in one way or another, is referred to as a Pilot. There are several types of pilots. A list of Known Pilots are recorded for convenience.
Lancer
A lancer is anyone who can operate a javelin. It takes years of training to understand the interface os a javelin, and years more to master piloting it.
Lancer is a term is occasionally interchangeable with Freelancer, but is not restricted to them. The term can be used by pilots of any faction.
Dominion Valkyries, Dominion Elementalists, Dominion Monitors, Outlaw Lancers, Outlaw Elementalists, Sentinel pilots, Freelancer pilots, Regulator pilots, Corvus pilots, Paladin pilots and Legion of Dawn knights who piloted the earliest javelins, are all lancers.
Strider Operator
Strider operators or Strider Pilots are those that can operate a strider. Strider operation is similar to that of a javelin and requires the connection to the Gateway. But it may be tougher to operate a strider due to its sheer size and complexity.
Scar Javelin Pilots
Scar Javelins are operated by scar colonies controlled by a Scar leader, usually an Escari and ocassionally a Luminary. It is unknown how they operate these tanks, but they seemes to have mastered them. It is not known if an interface to the Gateway is needed here, since the colonies are hive controlled insects.
Scar Tanks
Scar Tanks are piloted machines, usually by Escari or Luminary types of Scars. It is unknown how they operate these tanks, but they seemes to have mastered them. It is not known if an interface to the Gateway is needed here, even though Escari and Luminaries are fully sapient and intelligent.
