The outlaws sent their best. We need to deal with them. |
Outlaw Rocket Troopers are a heavy weapon wielding enemy generally encountered alongside other outlaws.
Etymology and Anatomy
Rocket Troopers get their names from Rocket (A projectile that runs on combustible fuel) and Trooper (An infantry soldier). Outlaw Rocket Troopers are high ranking outlaws that are quite rare during battles.
Outlaw Rocket Troopers wear a helmet and army green outfits. They equip elbow and knee pads. Like other non-pilot outlaw foes, their helmet has a bright fluorescent yellow visor, however, it is the smallest among them all. Their outfit may help them camouflage in green environments, but the visor makes them an easy target.
As the name suggests, these outlaws carry a rocket launcher that is as long as they are tall. When they load it with a rocket, it becomes longer. The rocket’s warhead has spikes on it.
Narrative Involvement
Outlaw Rocket Troopers are rarely seen in the battlefield. Their destructive ability to launch rockets makes them a very dangerous foe.
In several outlaw related encounters, they spawn into the battlefield during its halfway mark. Rocket Troopers usually do not isolate themselves and are found among other outlaws in the combat.

Overview
Outlaw Rocket Trooper inserting a Rocket Warhead into the Launcher
Outlaw Rocket Troopers have very low health, but they are among those foes that can do high damage. Rocket Troopers usually do not show up until the second wave of outlaw spawns during combat. That means, there is ample time to defeat all Outlaw Gunners. So once the second wave begins, Rocket Troopers may show up. At this point, they must be the priority since their rockets can do large blast damage.
If a foe gets too close to the Rocket Trooper, they can be struck with the unloaded rocket launcher for a small damage that can stagger them.
Outlaw Rocket Troopers settle on a spot before starting to attack. Once settled, they load a rocket, they activate their Laser Sight and target their foe. If the bright line of Laser isn’t noticeable during the heat of the combat, there is an aural cue given out from the javelin’s sensors detecting an imminent threat. This is a cue to go away to a safer spot, otherwise, receive the damage head on losing your shields and armor.
Doing damage to or defeating the Outlaw Rocket Troopers can make them drop ammo and repair packs. If health or ammo is low, collect these resupplies.
Combat
To tackle Outlaw Rocket Troopers, locate their Laser Sight and target them. When they are settled in a position, they are also vulnerable to every attack, especially to their head, since they don’t move. If head shots are not possible, then do blast damage at them.
Rocket Troopers’ Destructible Warhead becomes active when they are ready to fire their rocket. There are usually a few seconds before they launch the rocket; smoke and fire can be seen from behind the ignited rocket. This is a cue to target the rocket’s spiked warhead. Even the smallest damage to the warhead at this point will explode the rocket, taking down the Rocket Trooper instantly.
Every Named Outlaw Rocket Trooper
There is one known time when a named Outlaw Rocket Trooper has appeared. There also have been only few known occasions where a Legendary type Outlaw Rocket Trooper has been seen:
- Redlegs Rix in A Favor to Ask
- Legendary Outlaw Rocket Trooper in the missions Vanishing Act, Secrets of the Auspex, Bad Deal, and Impostor
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- Rocket Troopers have 3 white stripes on their left arm.
- There are very few instances during Freeplay when Outlaw Rocket Troopers become the target foe during an encounter or a World Event, replacing the usual Outlaw Lancer and Outlaw Elementalist.
- The number of pips in the health/armor bar do not represent the total value. This means, two types can have same number of pips, but the stronger type (legendary or elite) will have a significantly higher health than their weaker counterparts.
- The ability names are taken from the Anthem Prima Guide and datamined files. They may have been slightly modified to avoid confusion with other in-game names.
