Other Trees list all trees that do not have a prominent presence in the world of Coda. These trees are found thriving in mighty jungles and individually. While some trees can be made to grow to a miniature stature, most trees of Coda are monumental in size!

Bonsai

Etymology and Anatomy

Bonsai trees are a ornamental trees that have been grown inside pots and by careful tending, kept at a short stature. These are not a specific species of trees. Technically they can be among many varieties, there is only one shown inside the Fort.These flora are used as ornamental plants and valued for their beautiful appearance. Because of their nature, they provide a pleasant ambience during exploration.

Narrative Involvement

A bonsai tree is seen growing inside Matthias Lab or Dax's Apartment of Fort Tarsis. One is placed on the contract table. Several Bonsai Trees can be seen inside Dax's house on a shelf on the lower floor of the building.

Karrid Tree

Etymology and Anatomy

Karrid trees are a species that grow in the mountains of Heliost Region. Their barks are rugged. Their leaves are almond shaped and shimmer like jade gems.These flora are found growing in open spaces. These plants tend to thrive in most locations. Because of their nature, they provide a pleasant ambience during exploration.

Narrative Involvement

Karrid Trees are first mentioned in 467 LV, when Aushkiir was tasked to hunt down a mantikaar for Princess Zhim. Aushkiir ventures outside the mountains of Heliost and finds out about a new type of Pink Ember formed on a karrid tree. This gives her clues about performing a Bountiful Hunt for the mantikaar chimera.

Umbrella Tree

Etymology and Anatomy

Umbrella trees are some of the largest trees found in Northern Bastion apart from the Eddian Trees. Their size rivals monumental Shaper Structures like East Valve and West Valve. These trees have a uniquely shaped leaf structure which have an appearance of an unfurled umbrella. They are found exclusively in the Emerald Abyss Subregion. They are unnamed, but based on the umbrella trees, and hence named as such in this page.These flora are found growing in open spaces. These plants tend to thrive in most locations. Because of their nature, they provide a pleasant ambience during exploration.

Narrative Involvement

Umbrella trees are exclusively found in the Emerald Abyss Subregion, and only around where the forests are dense. Their leaves turn red during winter seasons. Each leaf of this tree can be as big as a javelin.

Decaying trees are found near areas that have vesnid hives. It is thought that plants that grow around these hives tend to rot. Some of these trees are also found around Scar presence. Decaying trees are also found everywhere in Northern Bastion. This is because fallen tree trunks, tree stumps, and leafless barren trees are more or less dead, and hence decaying.These flora are found growing in open spaces. These plants tend to thrive in most locations. Because of their nature, they provide a pleasant ambience during exploration.

Narrative Involvement

The Freelancer encounters many decaying trees, stumps and trunks when traversing across Northern Bastion. One of the most prominent tree stump was the one found during Preventative Precautions. Here, an annotation is shown which mentions that a bored Scar had done some tiny stab marks on the stump.

Burned trees are similar to decaying trees. However, they grow around places where lava flows. It is unknown if they are still alive on the inside, but externally, they have a charred appearance. They occasionally have burning embers on them.These flora are found growing in open spaces. These plants tend to thrive in most locations. Because of their nature, they provide a pleasant ambience during exploration.

Palm Tree

Etymology and Anatomy

Palm Trees are tall trees with slender trunks that have palm fronds on their top. Their leaves turn red during winter seasons.These flora are found growing in open spaces. These plants tend to thrive in most locations. Because of their nature, they provide a pleasant ambience during exploration.

Narrative Involvement

Palm Trees are found all across Northern Bastion. They are quite common in the western sides of the region, and can be encountered when the Freelancer is outside the walls. They previously used to grow in the outskirts of Freemark, but since its destruction, there is no normal vegetation that grows there.

These plants tend to thrive in most locations. Because of their nature, they provide a pleasant ambience during exploration.

Narrative Involvement

Broadleaf trees are found in large forests of Northern Bastion. These trees are not known to cause any trouble. They are harmless and are pleasant to look at. They do not do any damage to any javelin, or other living or non-living things.

Etymology and Anatomy

Stilt Root Trees are tall trees with wide branches that have a significant part of their root system above the ground. These trees have slender and long leaves that taper. More often than ever, Moss and Wool Crepe plants grow on them. Their leaves change color during winter.These flora are found growing in open spaces. These plants tend to thrive in most locations. Because of their nature, they provide a pleasant ambience during exploration.

Narrative Involvement

The Freelancer can encounter many stilt root trees, especially in dense forests. The most popular Stilt Root Tree is perhaps, "The Hanging Tree" from Exile's Arch. A Hanging tree is a specific tree where captives meant for exchange are left to die if ransom is not given to kidnapping outlaws. The one in Exile’s Arch, in particular is a stilt root tree.
