Observatory of Velathra is a district of Academy Ruins Subregion found within the region of Northern Bastion, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.
History
Velathra, while not as big as Anshar, housed a thriving Arcanist academy. The city was built by Arden Vassa. The primary function of this academy was to study Astronomy. Many students of Vassa studied here.
Arcanists such as Yerth Praedean studied in this observatory. The observatory had a tall Astronomy Tower, which was mainly used to study the Moons of Coda. This observatory was protected by Sentinels who lived in the nearby garrison.
Liatrelle the Unbroken had decided to lay Artinia the Sharpshooter near the Academy, and in turn, Observatory, so that in death, Artinia could watch the stars for signs of the General's return
On an unknown date, due to a cataclysm, which is thought to have been started by a seismic activity which caused the Ring Gate to go volatile and destroy the observatory along with it. As of 468 LV, Outlaws are constantly seen around the Observatory.
During the Icetide of 468 LV, the Freelancers set up the end platform of Watcher's Run Time Trial here.
Geography and Layout
The Observatory of Velathra is built using Legion of Dawn architecture. It was constructed by Arden Vassa, and similar architectural ruins are found all across Bastion.
The observatory ruins connect to a Shaper Spine nearby. The ruins are overgrown with flora and some minor fauna show up here at times. Next to the Astronomy Tower, there is the edge of Northern Bastion on its western side.
Under the observatory there is an unknown Hidden Place which cannot be accessed as of 468 LV. It can be reached by going down the stairs under the Astronomy Tower.
