Collection Details

A total of 6 cortex entries make reference to the Musings of a Street Prophet (Mailbox).

Musings of a Street Prophet are conspiracy theories about Bastion and its political dealings such as the secret works of Corvus, Sentinels etc. as told by a mad man in Fort Tarsis during the year 468 LV. In fact, it became such a nuisance that it was shut down. Or was it? No one can silence the Street Prophet and the truth uncovered by him!

Readers, I'm here to spread the word with this newsletter. Yeah, I'm the guy in Fort Tarsis, standing in the open, spouting the truth about the Anthem of Creation to anyone who'll listen. Most think I'm crazy. I know that. But if you're getting this, it means you're part of a private circle. People I trust a little more than most. So I can let my guard down here.

Truth be told, I might lean a little hard in the crazy direction--but that's a show for the public. Grab their attention, let some of it sink in, but act crazy enough they aren't sure. That's the idea. If you hit people all at once with the facts of reality, they'll just melt away. You need to spoon-feed it to them, and if it seeps in a bit at a time, eventually it all seeps in.

And before you ask, no, I'm not going to talk to you if you approach me in Fort Tarsis. That would ruin the act.

More truth is on the way...

FROM: The Street Prophet

Okay, I'm back with another issue. Let's get to business and lay down some serious truth. I'm pretty sure all the myth and mystique about the Anthem of Creation is a secret operation run by some foreign intelligence group. Yes, spies. Crazy, you say? Not so fast. Think about it.

What do you actually know about the Anthem? What can you actually prove? Nothing, my friends. Nothing at all. And yet look at the power it has over people. It's a religion for some, an obsession for others. It's the source of creation and power behind everything. And none of it's proven.

Think how powerful that belief would be in the wrong hands. And when those wrong hands tell the world it's the Shapers and their relics that harnessed the Anthem, what does that imply? I'll tell you: that whoever controls those relics is a power you should bow down to. Like the wrong hands.

More truth to come...

Truth coming at you. So why do I spout that stuff in the streets, you ask? Simple. To turn people off from the Anthem. Tune it out. Make them afraid of it, shake them loose from worshipping it. Not for the reasons I'm screaming about out there, but because the reasons I'm telling you here. The Anthem is all fabricated by spies. I don't want good people falling under their spell.

Here's the hard truth I've recently uncovered our very own Corvus might be the spy agency behind all this. I thought it was some foreign op. Nope. I have it on good authority Corvus has a Freelancer out there looking for a special, all-powerful relic. What did I tell you last issue? That the wrong hands could use the myth of the Anthem, Shapers, and relics to wield power. I just never imagined those wrong hands would be our hands, the ones supposedly protecting us.

More truth to follow...

FROM: The Street Prophet

Your prophet of truth is back. This one's going to be short. I have to be careful. People are onto me. The sort of people who don't like the truth reaching the masses. Just know that if I suddenly "disappear" from my corner, or start talking differently, you'll know why.

The prophet returns, triumphant! They thought they could silence me, but the truth cannot be locked away for merely "creating a public disturbance."

But let's get down to the real issues here: The Plague. You've seen it. I've seen it. Everyone's seen it. No one is talking about it. But we all know that people are missing. Gone without a trace! Where are they? Will they return? No one is saying.

And now there's a Great Beast in the market. With an augur. Coincidence? Obviously not! The Beast is clearly the source of the Plague, and once again the people supposedly responsible for protecting the people of Fort Tarsis turn a blind eye. Are the Sentinels involved? How far does the corruption go?
