Etymology and Anatomy

Mordant elementals get their names from Mordant (a corrosive liquid) and Elemental (A being made from the elements on Coda).

These Elementals look like other types of elementals but are colored green to indicate their acid properties. They have a bulbous upper half and wiggling lower half that move them around.

Elementals form during Shaper related incidents. Unstable relics, gate spawns, titans summoning, cataclysms, you name it. They are attracted to Shaper energy.

Unlike other fauna, elementals are considered sentient. If Shaper tools clash with the Anthem of Creation, one of the first things to form are elementals. Mordant elementals are formed when the “acid” element (even though acid is physical damage type, for the purposes of lore it can be considered an element) is in abundance. But no one truly knows how elementals are formed.

They form packs of same or different types of elementals depending on their surrounding and the type of shaper instrument. Some Arcanists believe that elementals explode because they get scared when someone approaches them.

Encounter Locations

Mordant Elementals can be encountered in several locations. They are usually found during times of intense Shaper activity at any place in Northern Bastion and during several expeditions. They can also be summoned using Shaper relics and by Titans.

Some of the common places to find Mordant Elementals:

• Spires Anomaly
• Silent Path Anomaly
• The Heart of Rage (Stronghold)
• The Sunken Cell

Strategy

If you see an elemental, just open fire at them. Because if an elemental sees you, it will fire projectiles or worse, come closer to you and detonate itself in a blast explosion.
