There is a Storm Gate somewhere around the Monument Watch. The Freelancer is tasked to enter it and stop anything inside it from coming out into Bastion.
Hints and Suggestions
- The Conjunction is a respawn restricted area. If a Freelancer is downed, they need to be revived by allies, otherwise, if they force respawn, they will be thrown out of the conjunction and back into Freeplay.
- This Conjunction has 3 tiers. At the completion of each tier, a Treasure Chest will be unlocked.
- There are enough Legendary Enemies in this conjunction to receive the gold Legendary Slayer Feat.
- Since this is a Shaper Structure based location, there are several Shaper Nodes around that can zap javelin thrusters and prevent flight.
- See individual pages for enemies in the Encounters section for details on how to combat with them.
- Crystal structures are tough to destroy. The smaller crystal projections on the structures must be destroyed to completely break the larger crystal. Multi-Target damage dealing weapons (for example, Jarra's Wrath) or Blast Damage dealing weapons or gears are the most effective, as time is limited.

- Bristleback is one of the toughest enemies in Anthem. All Bristlebacks are Legendary Enemies. Look into the strategy section of its page to see how to combat this enemy.

These are the locations where the Freelancer begins the expedition, has to perform tasks to advance, and conclude the expedition.
Cortex Entry
Monument Watch Anomaly (Conjunction) is categorized under the Conjunction type of expedition. These expeditions do not have any cortex entries associated with them.
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- This conjunction also used to give crystal rewards in the treasure chests during the original run of Echoes of Reality in 2019. When the Cataclysm ended, the crystal rewards stopped unless they are a part of daily challenges.
- This conjunction takes place in a Hidden Place anomaly called Monument Watch Anomaly.
- This Conjunction has 3 tiers.
- The conversation during this conjunction is taken from a pool of dialogs.
- During the original run of Echoes of Reality, a large crystal mound would appear under the storm gate and crystals would grow around it. These crystals could be harvested.
- Although it is called Monument Watch Anomaly, it actually takes place in High Road and not in Monument Watch!

Briefing
Storm Gate Opens Soon
There is a closed Storm Gate in the vicinity.
Storm Gate Opens In
The Freelancer may have to wait up to 4 minutes and 30 seconds for the storm gate to open. When the Storm Gate Opens, the Freelancer can enter it to reach to the Monument Watch Anomaly.
In Expedition
- Faye: "The Shaper energy is increasing. There's a break in the clouds. We need to get up there."
The Freelancer can fly towards the storm gate.
Storm Gate Closes Soon
The Storm gate closes soon so if any other Freelancers want to join in, they have a small amount of time to enter the conjunction.
Storm Gate Closes In
The Storm gate will close in 1 minute. There are several Storm Elementals for the Freelancer to defeat.
- Faye: "This is not what I expected. It's a Conjunction, but large. What we see here is not from our reality."
Conjunction Initiated. Tier 1 stats here.
Contain the Conjunction
When the storm gate closes,
- Faye: "Dominion. Stay alert."
Defeat the Dominion
The Freelancer fights and defats all the Dominion that have gated in.
Destroy the Crystals
- Faye: "Amazing. The crystal pillars in this Conjunction are a little... odd."
The Freelancer must destroy 2 large Shaper crystals.
Conjunction Destabilizes In
The Freelancer has 45 seconds to destroy the crystals, failing which the Conjunction Fails and they will be back in Freeplay without gaining any treasure chests. When the first crystal is destroyed,
- Faye: "One complete."
When the last crystal is destroyed,
- Faye: "That’s done. Nice work."
Defeat the Dominion
- Faye: "You’ve shows you’re a threat. Dominion backup closing in fast.!"
The Freelancer fights and defeats all the Dominion.
- Faye: "They’re trying to regroup. Make sure you’re ready for them."

Destroy the Crystals
- Faye: "Shaper crystals nearby, but more volatile."
The Freelancer must destroy 2 large Shaper crystals again, failing which the Conjunction Fails and they will be back in Freeplay without gaining any new treasure chests.
Conjunction Destabilizes In
The Freelancer has 45 seconds to destroy the crystals, failing which the Conjunction Fails and they will be back in Freeplay without gaining the second treasure chest. When the first crystal is destroyed,
- Faye: "There we go."
When the second crystal is destroyed,
- Faye: "Very good. That should be all."
When crystals are being destroyed,
- Faye: "A Fury—this won’t be easy. Show the Dominion what you can do!"
Defeat the Dominion
The Freelancer fights the Fury along with several Dominion enemies and defeats them all.
- Faye: "Stay focused. They’ll try to regroup."

Destroy the Crystals
Now, 3 crystals emerge from the ground!
- Faye: "A crystal relic nearby. More intense than usual."
The Freelancer must destroy the large Shaper crystals.
Conjunction Destabilizes In
The Freelancer has 1 minute to destroy the crystals, failing which the Conjunction Fails and they will be back in Freeplay without gaining the third treasure chest. When the first crystal is destroyed,
- Faye: "That’s one. Keep going."
When the second crystal is destroyed,
- Faye: "All right. There’s one more."
When the last crystal is destroyed,
- Faye: "Good. That part’s done."
Defeat Dominion
- Faye: "Fight’s not over yet. Looks like more are heading our way!"
The Freelancer fights the Scars but a new threat shows up!
- Faye: "Freelancer, there is anew enemy on the field—a Bristleback. Kill it here."
Defeat the Bristleback!
The Freelancer fights one of the toughest enemies—a Bristleback!
Conjunction Destabilizes In
The Freelancer has 3 minutes and 45 seconds to defeat this Bristleback, failing which the Conjunction Fails and they will be back in Freeplay without gaining the third treasure chest or the guaranteed reward drops from the Bristleback. When the Bristleback is finally defeated,
- Faye: "Superb work! Bastion is free of the Bristleback… for now, anyway."
Tier 3 ends here.
Conjunction Successfully Contained
The Freelancer is free to collect all rewards.
Conjunction Destabilizes In
The Freelancer has 1 minute before the conjunction closes and takes them back to Northern Bastion.
Post Expedition
Collect all the rewards dropped by the enemies and all the rewards from the 3 Treasure Chests. The Freelancer can force respawn out of the conjunction or, be transported when the conjunction closes into Freeplay.
Notes and Remarks
- This expedition has no conversational cut scene during briefing.
- This expedition has no conversational de-briefing post mission.
- The dialogs mentioned in the script can vary across different play-throughs and different repetition of the game modes. The dialog will be taken from a pool that get rotated in-game. The script mentioned here is from one such instance.
