Loot, are rewards earned from or during completing missions, events, or strongholds. They are commonly called Loot Drops if they are obtained from defeating enemies. Loot appears as a cypher projected octaheadron when obtained during an expedition, and its content can only be seen at the end of the expedition.

Loot can be obtained by defeating enemies or opening treasure chests or completing challenges. The type of loot and rarity depends upon the level of a javelin and the difficulty setting of the game mode. Salvaging loot will provide Crafting Resources.

Loot Rarity[]

The contents of these rewards are unknown when obtained. They can only be seen at the end of an expedition. Depending on the Pilot Level, different rarities of loot can be unlocked along with other crafting resources. When these loot are revealed, there is a special reveal animation for and rarities only.

Cortex Entry[]

Check Cortex Entry: Loot for More Information

Receive loot by successfully completing missions and from sources like defeated enemies and treasure chests. The specific loot is only revealed once an expedition is completed, but includes javelin upgrades such as weapons, gear, and components. Once revealed, items can be equipped at the Forge.

When defeating enemies, there's always a chance that loot will drop. Powerful enemies, Elite enemies, and Legendary enemies all have an increased chance of a drop.

Treasure chests will also drop loot. The quality of the chest determines the number of possible loot drops. Chests can be found while exploring during missions or Freeplay, but also upon completion of Freeplay events or major Stronghold encounters.

Successfully completing missions automatically adds loot to a player's backpack, which resolves as normal after completing the expedition. Bonus loot is added by successfully completing a mission after using Quickplay.

Loot drops have a maximum rarity that is determined by the players current pilot level. At Level 1-9, drops are Uncommon rarity; Level 10-19 are Rare; Level 20-29 are Epic; Level 30+ are Masterwork. At Level 30+, there is a small chance that Legendary items will drop instead of Masterwork items.

*Completing critical path missions will provide access to only 6 Masterwork items (all of which are weapons) until level 30 is reached. However, the power levels of these items will be between 55 and 61.

** After Level 30, if the critical path missions are not completed, the items received will still be the same 6 masterwork items, but they will always have a power level of 61.

Level 30[]

The quality (rarity) of the loot is high in higher difficulties. Along with loot, embers can be obtained, instead of other crafting resources, unlike when the pilot level is lower than 30.

Guaranteed Loot[]

Guaranteed loot is the reward obtained from satisfying certain criteria, which will result in the Freelancer obtaining them without miss.

Trivia[]

  • At launch, the lootpool, even at pilot level 30 included common and uncommon loot. But this was changed later when players began to complain.
  • Unfortunately, the above change backfired when Guardians' Tokens were introduced with update 1.6.0, as embers and crafting resources obtained from salvaging the lower rarities are one of the quickest ways of obtaining legendary loot from Guardians' Gifts.
