Lightning Damage

Lightning is an Elemental type of damage that can shock enemies. The electrocuted or electrified status does additional damage over time if enemies are close to each other and can pass on to nearby enemies, even after the shocked enemy is defeated.

Lightning damage floaties are purple in color.

Mechanism[]

Lightning damage can do 1x the damage mentioned in the details of any weapon or gear without considering additional bonuses and multipliers. However, when an enemy is under the Acid Status, the net damage becomes 1.25x. Targets weakened by support gear will receive 1.33x the damage. Enemies under both acid status and weakened through support will receive 1.67x the net damage.

Armored Targets[]

Lightning is very weak towards Armored targets (yellow health) dealing 0.5x the damage mentioned in the statistics of Combat Equipment. If the target is under Acid Status, then the net damage done will be 0.63x. If additional weakening effects from support gears are considered, it can do 0.66x. If both Acid Status and weakening effects from the support is considered, the net damage will be 0.84x.

Shielded Targets[]

Lightning is highly effective against Shielded targets (blue health) dealing 1.5x the damage mentioned in the statistics of the Combat Equipment. If additional weakening effect from supports are considered, then the net damage will be 2x. Shielded targets cannot be primed or under status effect unless their shields are depleted. So, once the shields are depleted, which is easier with ice damage, they can be under status effect easily. Enemies with lightning Resistant Shields receive 0x lightning damage to their shields.

Other Features[]

Lightning damage has several other features:

  • Lightning can be used to prime enemies if the combat equipment is a Primer. Enemies primed with lightning will have lightning primed icon hovering above them.
  • Lightning can be used to detonate combos if the combat equipment is a Detonator.
  • Lightning Blast Damage does the same damage as mentioned above, but within a blast radius.
  • Lightning Damage over time can only be increased by using elemental damage inscriptions or Lightning Sigils.
  • Lightning can be found in the environment in the form of Shaper Nodes, lightning strikes, and Shaper Structure malfunction. Touching them can do lightning damage and induce an electrocuted status to anybody.
  • Lightning canisters can be found in places of combat. If they are destroyed or if they explode, they release a burst of lightning which can do sustained damage to anyone in its radius until it wears off.

Lightning Damage Dealing Enemies[]

The following enemies do Lightning Damage and Lightning Blast Damage to their foes. Lightning Blast Damage dealing enemies will have lightning blast icon before their attack names in their respective page, but not in-game.

Trivia[]

  • The Lightning Damage over time during electrocuted status is always much higher than the fire damage over time in any circumstance. But Lightning is the weakest of all damage types, which balances it out.
  • Lightning is found in naturally occurring Fauna as well as Weaponized Creatures and Chimeras.
  • The highest damage dealing combat equipment without additional modifications are Lightning Rod, a Lightning weapon and Truth of Tarsis, an Armor Buster weapon.
  • Lightning Damage and Status effect inducing capabilities can be improved by using Lightning Sigils.
