Heliost Region is a region, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV. Heliost region is thought to be the name of the region in the eastern parts of Bastion. The name of the region is not truly revealed in any official media, but it is constantly mentioned with references to the city of Heliost and several natural environments around it and away from it.
There is a mention of the word Helios in the short story Bountiful Hunt. Whether it is a spelling error meant to refer to the city of Heliost or the name of the region is unclear. The term "Sundric Lowlands" is also mentioned, which could also be the name of this region. The region’s name will be updated if there is a change.
History
Heliost is a region to the east and northeast of Northern Bastion region. Although, it has existed for as long as planet Coda, much of its history stems from the time after the Legion Victorious era began. Heliost also has a myriad of Shaper structures across its terrain.
Since Scars took over the Skystone Lock in 464 LV on the Northern Bastion side, the Heliost side of this strider gate is permanently closed and heavily guarded by the Sentinels. Visiting Heliost on this day, would require one to take a new path, and getting resources from them takes a much longer time than it used to.
In 466 LV, around the time of Icetide, unknown form of ember, simply referred to as Pink Ember started to bloom around in the mountains of Heliost, turning fauna into chimera.
Geography and Layout
Heliost region is mountainous, suggesting it is very cold throughout the year. This region is rich in minerals, most prominently ember. The mountains of Heliost have several glaciers that feed the rivers. Once such glacier is the Helossar Glacier. There are valleys with waterfalls everywhere, as with most of the planet, but are frozen during the winter. Frozen muskegs, lagoons, lakes, and snow covered forests are quite common around here.
The fauna found here are mostly unique. When the cataclysm that brought skorpions into Northern Bastion was unleashed, the only way to enter the Heliost region, Skystone Pass, was guarded and sealed.
Heliost also has unique flora found specifically to that region. Of course, with the intervention of echoes and the existence of enormous amount of ember, chimerified plants, animals, and minerals are also found in abundance.
Heliost has several settlements, including cities and villages. However, the most popular among them is the city of Heliost, where most things used by the people of Bastion are manufactured.
The northern shore of Heliost region is surrounded by the Sundric Sea. 55 leagues away from this shoreline is the Dominion nation of Stralheim, which is visible from the mountains.
