Gear 1 also called Primary Gear are abilities used to deal damage to enemies or put them under a status effect during combat.
Gear 1 usually ends up doing damage or induce status effect to multiple enemies at the same time. This is often done in a radius called Blast Radius. There are 40 lower version and 48 upgraded forms of Gear 1. If Rarity and Maximum power levels are considered, the total number of Gear 1 is 256.
There are four types of Gear 1, one each for every javelin type:
- Grenade for Ranger
- Ordnance Launcher for Colossus
- Blast Seal for Storm
- Strike System for Interceptor
Note: The icon used here is only to differentiate between Gear 1 and Gear 2. There is only one gear icon used in the game.
Grenade[]
Grenade is a Ranger gear. Ranger throws a grenade packed with elemental featurettes or physical trauma inducing effects. Grenades always have a blast radius and have a small throwing duration. They do damage or induce status effects only when they come in contact with their target or any tangible surface like the ground.
Their trajectory and blast radius is always shown through a cypher projected animation.

Ordnance Launcher[]
Ordnance Launcher is a Colossus gear. Colossus launches an ordnance projectile with elemental featurettes or physical trauma inducing effects. Ordnances always have a large blast radius and have a small projecting duration. They do damage or induce status effects only when they or the effect they cause come in contact with their target or any tangible surface like the ground.
Their trajectory and blast radius is always shown through a cypher projected animation. Sometimes, the blast radius is even larger than what the cypher projection shows.

Blast Seal is a Storm gear. Storm channels energy from the Anthem of Creation through the seals on its javelins to cast or project elemental damage and status effects on its targets.
These effects can sometimes have a blast radius and can be shown through a cypher projected animation.

Strike System[]
Strike System is an Interceptor gear. The interceptor does damage or induce status effects on its targets by releasing special striking attachments on its blades or its whole body. These attachments always end up doing some form of physical or melee damage to the enemy.
The specialty of gear is that it has the capability to do damage or induce status effects to multiple enemies all at once, or one-by-one through sub-charges..

- Gear 1 is called Ability 1 in the key binding menu of the game.
- There are a total of 128 secondary gears in the game, when rarity and maximum power levels are taken into account.
- Almost all gear 1 can do damage to multiple targets at the same time. A notable exception is Interceptor’s Plasma Star and Sanadeen's Respite. These two, however, have multiple sub-charges, making them capable of doing damage to multiple targets, just not at the same time.
