Garred the Chronicler was the husband of General Helena Tarsis. He helped to recruit and train the first of the Legion of Dawn. Garred also recorded the "tragedies and triumphs" of the Legion in Bastion's most famous book, The Volume of Tarsis, though the text was printed long after Garred's death.^{[citation needed]}
