Expedition Critical Objective Freelancer Down Header Image

The Dawn Shield has been crafted. But for an unknown reason, it is not working as intended. Perhaps talking to Faye and Haluk would shed some light on this issue.

The Freelancer visits the duo, when a familiar face shows up to learn about the progress and shed new information.

Hints and Suggestions

  • The dialog exchange between the characters will change depending on whether single player or multiplayer mode is played.
  • Remember to perform Feats to obtain XP for increasing Pilot Level and receiving Alliance bonus.
  • This particular expedition may have a video walkthrough after the Cortex Entry section for documentation.
  • There is no text popup Text Pop Up during this mission.
  • This expedition might be difficult to play solo. Giving more health to the Freelancer’s javelin and using powerful Combat Equipment is recommended.
  • Frost Hoounds in large numbers can be a nuisance. Fire does additional damage to them.
  • Use Acid-icon Acid, Armor Buster-icon Armor Buster, or Fire-icon Fire type damage to tackle Dominion Brutes and Turrets.
  • Deplete enemy shields using Shield Breaker-icon Shield Breaker, Electric-icon Lightning or Ice-icon Ice type damage.
  • Furies have a massive health pool. Quickly deplete their shields and stard damaging their armor. They can go inside their crystal barrier to recover health. Their entropy attacks are randomized and do large amount of damage. During such times, it is best to take cover. See Dominion Fury for more details on ways to tackle them.
  • It is also recommended that the explosives scattered across the map during combat be used when in need.
  • Beware of the elite type Dominion Shocktroopers. Upon defeat, they drop loose death rattle grenades, which can explode and do a large lightning damage in a blast radius.
  • Beware of the elementals. They will come near the javelin and explode, inducing a status effect on it.
  • In multiple playthroughs, use crafting to make tougher Combat Equipment to fight enemies.

Haluk was unsuccessful in repairing the seals on your own version of the Dawn Shield. After arguing with Faye, he left in frustration to cool off. You need to find him and talk to him.

Outcome: You survived the Dominion ambush at the Fortress of Dawn and successfully brought Haluk back to Fort Tarsis. Owen made an unexpected appearance to apologize for his betrayal. To make amends, he gave you the missing part which will let you finish your own version of the Dawn Shield.

Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)

  • This mission shows how Sentinels are different from the Freelancers: Only Freelancers can silence Shaper relics because they are specially trained for that purpose. Others can attempt to silence relics, but will almost always be unsuccessful, usually, resulting in their demise.
  • During Finding Old Friends, Faye makes a particular expression when the Freelancer tells Haluk that Corvus contracted them to end the Heart of Rage. This mission shows that it was Faye who actually contacted Corvus to their aid.
  • This mission also confirms that Zhim had given a job to Haluk and Faye, whose conclusion was the one shown during Finding Old Friends.
  • Haluk’s strider is not used for this mission, unlike most missions where a strider is used, because Haluk runs away from the Fort in his javelin.
  • It is heavily implied in this mission that the doors of the Fortress of Dawn can now be opened by anyone, without General Tarsis' Signet.
  • The Autocannon that Haluk throws during the cut scene is unique and is not available for the Freelancer as of Update 1.7.0.
  • The Freelancer calls Owen a friend, regardless of whether they called him one during an earlier choice-based conversation with him inside the Fort.
  • This is the first time the Freelancer encounters a Fury.
  • The actual flight suppressor is high above a tower between the upper and lower courtyards. The backup generator is in the lower courtyard.
  • If the Freelancer fights long enough before destroying the two turrets in the upper courtyard, a Legendary Dominion Frost Brute can spawn.
  • Due to a minor bug, Roland’s strider can sometimes appear hovering above the ground. It is inconsequential to the progress of the mission, however.
  • There is no objective log for Disabling the Generator. The log on the top right simply shows signal next to an empty box without any text cue.
  • Since Haluk didn’t complete all three trials, he is not a Legionnaire. However, it is possible for him to still be a lancer of the Legion.
  • Haluk changes his mind about being a teacher by the time the Icetide of 468 LV begins.

Below is the Script and Walkthrough for Freelancer Down (Mission):

Briefing

Faye and Haluk are waiting by the Fort Tarsis Forge, trying to attach the Dawn Shield to the Freelancer’s javelin.

Talk to Faye and Haluk

The Freelancer speaks with their two friends.

Talk to Faye and Haluk

  • The Freelancer: "Everyone ready to go? I know I am."

Faye and Haluk seem disappointed in something

  • Haluk: "Yeah. So… we got a problem."
  • The Freelancer: "When you say, “problem,” you don’t mean…"

Someone speaks from behind.

  • Tassyn: "We need to talk."
  • Faye: "Well, that’s ominous."

Tassyn arrives with her her bodyguard.

  • Tassyn: "The Dominion forces are converging on the Heart of Rage. The Monitor is making his move. Even if it costs him an entire army. You’re out of time. I need a solution."
  • Haluk: "I got the seals ready, but… they don’t work."
  • Tassyn: "Explain."
  • Haluk: "Everything’s to spec! but they don’t activate, and hell if I know why… something’s missing from design."
  • Tassyn: "There is no time for this. I am two seconds away from sending every Sentinel in the Fort after the Monitor."
  • The Freelancer: "You can’t send them! You know what happened to the Freelancers! It’ll be a bloodbath!"
  • Tassyn: "Their sacrifice could save everyone else. We’re all dead if the Monitor succeeds in weaponizing the Cenotaph."
  • Faye: "Their deaths won’t stop the Monitor. You know that."
  • Tassyn: "Too many lives are at stake for me to do nothing and just hope that the three of you get your shit together."
  • Haluk: "Just hold them back a little longer. I’ll get the seals to work if it kills me."
  • Tassyn: "You’d better."
  • Faye: "They can race the Monitor through the storm and win, but the Sentinels will still fail. They have no training with Shaper relics. No knowledge of the Cenotaph. We do. We spent years on this. We’re the only ones that can end this Cataclysm, and you know this. Give us time."
  • Tassyn: "Look. You two called me for help. I could have left you at Princess Zhim’s “court.” Don’t make me regret that. Now the lives of everyone in the fort—and all of Antium—are hanging by a thread. You have until the Transport striders arrive. Get it done."

As Tassyn gets out of the picture, Haluk looks down in disappointment, and Faye, concerned. Haluk speaks with Faye.

  • Haluk: "What is she talking about? What call?"
  • Faye: "What call?"
  • The Freelancer: "Corvus didn’t track you down, you contacted them."
  • Faye: "We were getting so close to the Anthem! And once we’d finished Zhim’s job, we’d need a Freelancer."
  • Haluk: "I am a Freelancer."
  • Faye: "No, you’re not, Haluk. Not anymore! You and your damned pride… you were never going to admit you couldn’t run a javelin anymore. Or ask for help. For two years you promised we’d go back into the Heart of Rage. Two years! And every day, “wait a little longer!” Because you had to do everything yourself. And if you couldn’t nobody could."
  • Haluk (Shouts): "You think I can’t do it? You’re so damned sure?"
  • Faye: "I know you can’t."
  • The Freelancer: "Both of you, stop! We don’t have time to waste fighting each other."
  • Haluk: "No. we don’t. Get out of my way."
  • The Freelancer: "Haluk! wait!"

Haluk walks away.

  • Faye: "He has to face reality."
  • The Freelancer: "I’m not getting into this."
  • Faye: "He’s probably gone to work on his armor. Just… bring him back and we’ll take another look at the seals."

Faye is very upset as she walks towards the Freelancer’s javelin.

  • Faye: "I shouldn’t have said that."

Faye closes her eyes and bows hear head regretfully.

Find Haluk

The Freelancer goes away to find Haluk.

Speak with Haluk

As Faye waits at the Forge, it is up to the Freelancer to look for Haluk around the Fort. The Freelancer first goes to find Haluk in the Fort Tarsis Freelancer Enclave.

  • The Freelancer: "Faye, I’m at the enclave. No sign of Haluk."
  • Faye: "Catch him before he does something stupid."
  • The Freelancer: "I’ll ask around."

Talk to Jak

The Freelancer goes to speak with Lucky Jak by his station in the enclave.

  • Faye: "Hi, there—have you seen Haluk?"
  • Lucky Jak: "Yeah, and he looked pissed. Said something about running out of time, and that he was gonna talk to Commander Vule."
  • The Freelancer: "Faye, you hear that? I’m on my way to Vule."
  • Faye: "Why is Haluk talking to the Sentinels?"
  • The Freelancer: "He’s up to something."
  • Faye: "(Grumbles.)"

Speak with Commander Vule

The Freelancer finds Commander Vule at his station.

  • The Freelancer: "Commander Vule."
  • Commander Vule: "Freelancer."
  • The Freelancer: "Did Haluk drop by?"
  • Commander Vule: "He did. His mood was worse than usual, if that’s possible."
  • The Freelancer: "What did he want?"
  • Commander Vule: "The timetable, how long before our striders arrive."
  • The Freelancer: "Did he say why?"
  • Commander Vule: "He said he missed something back at the Fortress of Dawn. I assumed you were going with him?"
  • The Freelancer: "Uh, right."
  • Commander Vule: "He was in a hurry to get there. Hopefully this isn’t something the Sentinels will need to clean up."
  • The Freelancer: "We’re taking care of it."

After speaking with Vule, the Freelancer walks away.

  • The Freelancer: "Faye—"
  • Faye: "I heard. Listen, someone just saw Haluk leaving the Fort."
  • The Freelancer: "How?"
  • Faye: "In his javelin. Damn him. The Fortress of Dawn? By himself?"
  • The Freelancer: "Not for long. I’m going after him."

Launch Expedition

The Freelancer heads to Haluk’s station one more time to see if he is there or not.

  • The Freelancer: "Yep. Haluk’s suit is gone. He left the fort."
  • Faye: "You need to get moving. No telling what trouble he’s stirring up."

The Freelancer prepares for the expedition and ventures out.

Briefing Gallery

In Expedition

Outside the Fort by Tarsis Falls, the Freelancer prepares to fly towards the Fortress of Dawn in their javelin, but this time, without Haluk’s strider, they will have to fly there.

Travel to the Fortress of Dawn

  • The Freelancer: "I’m heading out now, Faye."
  • Faye: "What’s the plan?"
  • The Freelancer: "Find Haluk. Yell a bit. Then wring his neck."
  • Faye: "Oh, so a good plan."
  • The Freelancer: "Nice and simple."
  • Faye: "Just… don’t be too hard on him."
  • The Freelancer: "You were."
  • Faye: "And I already regret it. If those were the last words I ever speak to him… I can’t raise him. He’s not responding."
  • The Freelancer: "I’ll get him back."

The Freelancer flies towards the Fortress of Dawn through Tarsis Forest. When they are in the First Refuge, there is a familiar voice intercepting their comms link.

  • Owen: "Calling all Freelancers, hello Freelancers… well, only one in particular."
  • The Freelancer: "Owen?"
  • Owen: "Missed having me in your ear, did you?"
  • Faye: "What the hell do you want?"
  • Owen: "Ooh, and Faye too. How quickly I’ve been replaced."
  • The Freelancer: "Answer her question. What the hell do you want?"
  • Owen: "I’m still working that out. What matters now is you’re headed for trouble."
  • The Freelancer: "How do you know where I’m—"
  • Owen: "The Dominion aren’t fooling around. You’ve gone from a minor nuisance to a serious impediment. They’d like you to stop. Breathing, that is. Once and for all."
  • The Freelancer: "That’s not negotiable."
  • Owen: "That aren’t asking. Haluk’s in over his head. They’re going to ambush him. Take him off the map."
  • Faye: "What?"
  • The Freelancer: "Why are you telling us this?"
  • Owen: "I don’t know. Feeling nostalgic, maybe? For simpler times?"
  • The Freelancer: "You mean when you weren’t a complete traitor?"
  • Owen: "Now that stings. Sure, I might’ve made some risky career moves, but… look, I’m not a monster. Just watch your back. Bye now."
  • Faye: "What a bastard."

The Freelancer flies through The Bullet Mires, Praedean Falls, Exile's Arch, and Darkwood Barrens to reach the Fortress of Dawn Courtyards

  • The Freelancer: "Okay. I’m at the fortress."
  • Faye: "Any sign of Haluk?"
  • The Freelancer: "Pretty quiet. Nothing so far. I’ll look around."
  • Faye: "Not loving the idea of being back here."
  • The Freelancer: "What could go wrong?"

Investigate Fortress Area

The Freelancer searches the lower courtyard and finds corpses of Dominion troops and brutes.

  • Faye: "I see bodies. Not Haluk’s at least. Owen was right—it was an ambush."
  • The Freelancer: "Maybe Haluk turned it around on them."

The Freelancer flies to the upper courtyard of the fortress.

  • Faye: "Watch it! They were waiting for you!"

Defeat Dominion Troops

The Freelancer fights and defeats Dominion enemies.

  • Faye: "You’re good. Not seeing any more."
  • The Freelancer: "Haluk must’ve holed up inside. I’ll go check. Think the Dominion fixed all the equipment we broke on the way in?"
  • Faye: "Let’s hope not. There’s no way Haluk could make it through that gauntlet alone."

Enter the Fortress

The Freelancer enters the fortress. There are dead Dominion soldiers everywhere while the Effigy of Might remains untouched.

  • The Freelancer: "Haluk?"
  • Haluk: "Over here."

Haluk is sitting on a pile of rubble. The Freelancer goes to him while looking around the defeated enemies.

  • The Freelancer: "You almost got yourself killed! Why didn’t you call me? Although… This looks pretty impressive."
  • Haluk: "It was owen."
  • The Freelancer: "Owen?"
  • Haluk: "Yeah. That two-faced bastard came out of nowhere. He’s a crap pilot… but damn, that javelin is something else. oh, I got a few… but not enough."

Haluk throws his autocannon away.

  • Haluk: "(Exhales.)… (Laughs.)… you know, Freelancer’s all I ever wanted to be. It’s all I do."

The Freelancer sits besides Haluk.

  • Haluk: "I got no family. Poured every bit of me into being the best, chasing my dream of the Legion of Dawn. Read their stories so much, I can recite them from memory."
  • The Freelancer: "Yeah, me too. Know why? You taught me. Taught most of us."

Haluk shakes his fists.

  • Haluk: "I don’t want to be a teacher. (Grunts.)"

The Freelancer and Haluk stand up.

  • The Freelancer: "Haluk! Come on. This isn’t about you. Being a Freelancer’s about the team. You showed me that."
  • Haluk: "Yeah, yeah, yeah… (Exhales.)"

Haluk looks in the distance as a mysterious figure flies-in from the damaged roof of the fortress.

  • Haluk: "Well, look who’s back. Here’s that two-faced bastard now."

Owen flies in, wearing the Javelin of Dawn, while carrying a Dominion soldier, and lands before the Effigy of Might.

  • The Freelancer: "Owen. You’ve got a lot of nerve."
  • Owen: "Is it strange seeing me pilot this javelin? You never recognized my unique talent."

Owen throws the corpse as he walks towards the Freelancer. But something is odd about him.

  • Haluk: "Oh, and The Monitor did?"
  • Owen: "Yes, he did, actually."
  • The Freelancer: "I heard that didn’t really work out."
  • Owen: "No. but for a while, it was brilliant! The Dawn Shield came up… I was magnificent. You should have seen me. Then, of course. It didn’t hold. Seems it needs her signet, but I suspect you know that already. So, naturally—disaster, retreat, failure. In any case…"

Owen reveals his face—scorched and melted from exposure to hot embers; his eyes, murky white. Haluk, shocked to witness the disfigured face, looks at the Freelancer. The Freelancer looks at him.

  • Owen: "My punishment. The dominion and I have since parted ways."
  • Haluk: "Well, I think you learned your lesson."

Owen turns his face towards Haluk.

  • Owen: "Oh. And I think you were very lucky I was there to save your ass."

An angry Haluk tries pushing Owen away, but Owen resists. The two brawl, still inside their javelins. But Haluk’s is no match for the legendary Javelin of Dawn. Owen overpowers Haluk and shoves him on the ground. His voice flanges as he speaks.

  • Owen: "It seems your legendary capabilities were… oversold. Just a touch."

Owen notices a metallic shield attached to Haluk’s forearm. He pulls Haluk back on his feet while examining the shield

  • Owen: "Hold on a second. You build your own Dawn Shield? Faye must’ve pulled the blueprints from the Fortress… that’s very clever. So you are still heading to the Cenotaph. But—why haven’t…"

Haluk looks away in shame.

  • Owen: "It doesn’t work, does it? No, it doesn’t work, not even with her signet? Oh dear, how very upsetting."

As Owen mocks them, Haluk rolls his eyes.

  • The Freelancer: "Okay. Play time’s over. Give us the General—"

As the Freelancer tries to ask for the Javelin of Dawn, Owen jumps.

  • Owen: "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no—this belongs to me now."
  • Haluk: "Owen, I swear to god—"
  • Owen: "Haluk. This doesn’t concern you."

Owen then looks at the Freelancer.

  • Owen: "We need to talk."

Freelancer shaker their head, and looks at Haluk.

  • The Freelancer: "Go get the Strider. I’ll see you back in Tarsis."

Haluk pauses for an instant staring at the Freelancer. He then complies by walking away. While doing that he deliberately nudges Owen by his shoulder.

  • Haluk: "Two-faced bastard."

After the Freelancer and Owen witness Haluk walk away, the two have a heart-to-heart.

  • The Freelancer: "We were partners, even friends. If you hadn’t saved Haluk’s life, I’d—"
  • Owen: "I’ve heard it. The Anthem. I’ve heard it too. I understand how it can drive a person to do terrible things."
  • The Freelancer: "Okay."
  • Owen: "I watched the Monitor hear it again. He’s become crazed. He’s got this machine, this weapon, and he’s going to get it to the Cenotaph any way he can. Even if that means dragging it across a bridge of his own dead soldiers."
  • The Freelancer: "Okay—thanks for the heads-up."

The Freelancer casually dismisses Owen because they already know that the Monitor has been doing everything that was told to. The Freelancer walks away, but Owen stops them.

  • Owen: "I’m sorry. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but I’m hoping I can make amends—maybe even save your life."

Owen removes a Seal-fragment from the Dawn Shield of the Javelin of Dawn.

  • Owen: "Here—take this, my friend."

Owen places the fragment in the Freelancer’s hand while the Freelancer is surprised.

  • Owen: "I mean, I’m sure you probably would have worked it out eventually, but there’s no time, is there. I mean— just get Faye to reverse-engineer it, fix your shield, build a whole load, blah-blah-blah… (Exhales.)"

Owen walks away towards the Effigy of Might.

  • The Freelancer: "Where are you going to go?"

Owen halts.

  • Owen: "Uh, I’m not really sure to be honest. Um, East? West? Ya know? Again, I’m sorry."
  • The Freelancer: "Right. You’ve said."
  • Owen: "Yeah, uh, not just for that. Ah, I’m sensing a whole load of Dominion Furies heading this way. Right now. Ooo, yeah, they seem particularly nasty. You should be fine though. Good luck, hero!"

Owen flies away.

  • The Freelancer: "Owen, you son of a bitch!"

Several Dominion soldiers gate-inside the Fortress and a new type of enemy, never encountered before, reveals itself.

  • The Freelancer: "Faye, what is this?"
  • Faye: "Sorry, Owen wasn’t kidding. A Fury. Top-of-the-line Dominion. But you’re a top-of-the-line Freelancer, right?"
  • The Freelancer: "Gonna find out."

Leave the Fortress of Dawn

The Freelancer must find a way to escape this situation.

Defeat Dominion Troops

The Freelancer fights this new enemy while defeating other troopers.

  • Faye: "More of them coming in!"
  • The Freelancer: "Guess we really pissed someone off, huh?"
  • Faye: "You should be flattered."
  • The Freelancer: "Right. Every bullet’s a compliment."

All the enemies are defeated.

  • Faye: "There, you got this! You survived a Fury."
  • The Freelancer: "Don’t sound so surprised."
  • Haluk: "Uh, hey. We’ve got bigger problems out here."
  • The Freelancer: "Haluk."
  • Haluk: "I didn’t get very far. I’m outside. You need to see this."

Exit Fortress

The Freelancer exits the Fortress.

Speak with Haluk

Haluk waits for the Freelancer while hiding behind a pony wall down the stairs.

  • Haluk: "Over here!"

The Freelancer flies to Haluk.

  • Haluk: "Flight suppression everywhere. I can manage short hops. But… just save yourself."
  • The Freelancer: "Hell no. It’s all nothing, Haluk."
  • Haluk: "I’m dead weight, kid."
  • The Freelancer: "You’re dead wrong. You worry about those suppression machines, I’ll carve a path."
  • Haluk: "Ehhh… okay. What the hell. We’re going out with a bang."
  • The Freelancer: "Faye? We’re not gonna last long out here!"
  • Faye: "You’ll need an extraction."
  • The Freelancer: "Hoping you can work a miracle!"
  • Faye: "I’m on it. Hang tight."
  • The Freelancer: "By our fingernails!"

Clear the Path to Escape the Fortress of Dawn

The Freelancer must escape with Haluk.

Defeat Dominion Troops

The Freelancer fights Dominion Troops while trying to eliminate two turrets.

  • Haluk: "How you doing, kid?"
  • The Freelancer: "White knuckle time."
  • Haluk: "Nothing to it. I once thought off three dozen outlaws that trapped me in a canyon."
  • The Freelancer: "How’d you survive?"
  • Haluk: "I just—crap, I’ve got trouble. Back in a sec."
  • The Freelancer: "Sure, leave me hanging."

The Freelancer fights waves of enemies while trying to destroy the turrets. Once all the enemies are defeated

  • Faye: "Clear! You did it!"
  • The Freelancer: "I’m sure they’re just getting started. Faye, how’s that miracle coming?"
  • Faye: "You just worry about the fight. I’ll find a way to get you out of there."
  • The Freelancer: "Haluk? How’s it coming?"
  • Haluk: "Just focus on the fight. I’ll get this suppression thing sorted."
  • The Freelancer: "You know. I kind of have to worry about both."
  • Haluk: "No, you don’t. that’s what I was going to tell you—trust your team. You do your part, we’ll do ours. Everyone wins. When I was trapped in that canyon, I covered the North side, my buddy covered the South. You know what? I never looked south."

Move to Lower Courtyard

The Freelancer flies to the Lower Courtyard of the Fortress.

  • The Freelancer: "The Dominion really mean it this time!"
  • Haluk: "Use your geography! Find the cover! An ambush works both ways! And don’t ever retreat! If you do, you’re dead. It’s gotta be forward momentum! Put them on their heels!"
  • The Freelancer: "Be easier if I could fly!"
  • Haluk: "Yeah, yeah, I’m working on it."

Defeat Dominion Troops

More Dominion troops gate in.

  • Haluk: "Damn, the flight suppressor has a back-up in place. I can’t do anything until we take that out."
  • Faye: "The Freelancer, there’s a generator nearby. That might solve it?"
  • The Freelancer: "Worth a try. I’m on it."

(Disable Generator)

The Freelancer remains in the green cypher projection circle to stay within the range for Faye to disable the generator, while fighting the Dominion. The Freelancer must remain within the range during the process and defeat enemies while they are at it. If enemies enter the circle, then the disabling process slows down, and the circle becomes pale in color. If the Freelancer steps outside the range, the circle turns orange, and the progress made dwindles.

  • The Freelancer: "Haluk, I’m trying to disable the generator now. Hang tight!"
  • Haluk: "Yeah, sure. I got nowhere else to hang."

The generator is still being disabled.

  • The Freelancer: "Still waiting on this stupid generator."
  • Haluk: "Patience, kid! Lose your cool and lose your head."
  • The Freelancer: "You’re not exactly a patient guy, Haluk."
  • Haluk: "Off duty, maybe. But in the line of fire, you gotta stay in the moment! Start losing focus and you’ll miss the bullet coming straight at you."

The disabling process continues further.

  • The Freelancer: "Okay, Haluk, it’s down!"
  • Haluk: "Let me see now. Aargh. Stupid Dominion technology. All the wires are red!"

Defeat Dominion Troops

The Freelancer defeats remaining Dominion Troops.

  • Faye: "There you’re clear! You can move ahead!"
  • Haluk: "I’ll do you one better—you can fly there!"
  • The Freelancer: "It’s down. You did it, Haluk."
  • Faye: "I’ll do you one better. The miracle’s on its way. A trader owes me a favor. He's diverting his strider to you. He’ll meet you on the other side of the bridge."
  • Roland: "This is Roland Hendriks, coming in hot for a pick-up. Who needs a ride?"
  • The Freelancer: "Roland, we’re headed your way."
  • Roland: "I’m going to have to park it near—shit! What was that? We’ve got Dominion incoming!"
  • Haluk: "Get to him, kid! I’ll be right behind you!"

Cross the Bridge

The Freelancer flies across the broken bridge to reach Morning's Edge through Vassa's Way.

  • The Freelancer: "Get moving, Haluk."
  • Haluk: "Letting you distract them! Draw off some fire!"
  • The Freelancer: "Thanks a lot."
  • Haluk: "Tactics, kid. That’s how you win!"
  • The Freelancer: "How so?"
  • Haluk: "Truth is, I needed you to want to save me! Get you fired up!"
  • The Freelancer: "So the whole “dead weight” thing?"
  • Haluk: "Freelancers never give up! A good leader knows what motivates their people! My buddy in that canyon? He’d ask me how things looked my way to the north. I kept telling him it’s all good! I was lying my ass off, getting hammered by outlaws. But it kept my buddy going! So, how’s it going, kid?"
  • The Freelancer: "It’s all good!"
  • Haluk: "(Laughs.) Now you’re learning!"

Defend Strider

The Freelancer fights more Dominion while drawing their attention away from Roland’s strider.

  • Roland: "Not liking the looks of this! Strider isn’t going to hold up for long!"
  • The Freelancer: "Hang in there Roland!"

The combat continues.

  • Roland: "What’d you do to piss the Dominion off, anyway?"
  • The Freelancer: "Long story."
  • Roland: "Yeah? Maybe I don’t wanna know."

The fight moves further.

  • Roland: "Hey. No rush or anything, but they’ve got turrets!"

The Freelancer takes care of the 3 turrets while fighting the Dominion.

  • Roland: "Faye, you’re going to owe me a favor now. Big time!"
  • Faye: "Sure, sure, just get everyone out alive!"

The battle rages.

  • Roland: "Aw, c’mon. I just gave this thing a new coat of paint!"

The combat doesn’t seem to end!

  • Roland: "That’s a dent I’m never getting out."

Finally, all the turrets are destroyed.

  • Faye: "There we are. (Grumbles.) Damn! A Fury! Watch yourself!"

Defeat Fury=

The Freelancer fights this second Fury and defeats it.

  • The Freelancer: "Let’s finish this."
  • Faye: "I’m with you!"

Defeat Remaining Dominion

The Freelancer defeats all the remaining Dominion troops.

  • Faye: "You did it. I don’t see any more Dominion!"
  • Haluk: "What are we waiting around for? They’ll be back. Let’s go!"

Haluk and the Freelancer make haste towards Roland’s strider and return to Fort Tarsis in one piece.

Post Expedition

The Freelancer exits the Forge from their javelin. Perhaps Faye will know what to do with the seal given by Owen.

  • The dialogs in this expedition will always remain the same as mentioned in this script. However, certain conversations may be skipped if actions are performed quickly, or additional conversations will show up if there is a delay.
