Fortress of Dawn is a district of Fortress of Dawn Subregion found within the region of Northern Bastion, located in the nation of Bastion, on the planet Coda, as of the year 468 LV.
History
The Fortress of Dawn was constructed by Arden Vassa as a new home to the Free Peoples away from the Haven. General Tarsis wanted this built so that there would be a new stronghold for humanity against the Urgoth fiends during the Time of the Legion of Dawn—this was before the Javelin of Dawn was built. It is said that this fortress was built by Vassa in only five days.
Between the years 466 and 468 LV, Faye Navine found out a way to unlock the Fortress of Dawn located in this district. While finding the way to the Tomb of General Tarsis, the Freelancer had to greet her four honor guards. The Tomb of Legionnaire Gawnes was found under the fortress. Then, the Javelin of Dawn was later discovered inside the fortress, which eventually led to the silencing of the Heart of Rage.
In 468 LV, those lost in darkness came out of the hiding, and challenged the Freelancer to light several shrines to honor their fallen, one of them was on a tower of the fortress. The Freelancer honored them and the fallen.
The same year, during Icetide, the Freelancers set up a Time Trial called Fortress Run, which passed through the two courtyards of the Fortress of Dawn.
Geography and Layout
The Fortress of Dawn is a colossal palace that housed hundreds of people at its peak. Most of the plants and animals found here are minor. The Fortress’ exterior is divided into two courtyards. The Fortress of Dawn district is situated atop a cliff. All structures here are from Legion Era and were thought to hav ebuilt by Arden Vassa.
Details of the Fortress Interior are not discussed here.
Lower Courytard
The Lower Courtyard is one where most of the lancers practiced fighting the Urgoth. This locations isn’t very special, but it has large Legion structures that show peak architecture. The Lower Courtyard has the gate to enter the fortress beyond which, is Vassa's Way. There are some trees and minor flora found here, given that it was a courtyard, which is natural. There clearly was a statue of an important Legion of Dawn member at its center, which is now in ruins.
Today, the Dominion are constantly seen trying ot takeover this location in vain. This effort is not successful due to various lancers' effort.
In 468 LV, when the Freelancer found was tasked to open the doors of the Fortress, the Freelancer first reached the lower courtyard, only to find several Brutes having fought and defeated Dominion enemies here. After defeating turrets and other enemies, the Freelancer went to the upper courtyard. Later, the Freelancer fought more Dominion while escaping them with Haluk.
The same year, during the Season of Skulls Festival, the Freelancer did Arcanist Research in several locations, one of which was the lower courtyard. The Freelancer also lit a shrine for those Lost in Darkness here.
Upper Courytard
The Upper Courtyard is again filled with Legion structures. However, this is located on a higher level. There seem to be several buildings here, which likely were housings for some Legion of Dawn members. There is a gazebo at the center of the courtyard. There are stairways guarded by statues of Legion warriors that lead to the entrance of the Fortress of Dawn. There are several ruined structures of the fortress collapsed here. The Fortress' door is guarded by monumental colossi that were used to scare away any Urgoth or other enemies trying to get into the fortress. On the extreme top right and top left of the upper courtyard, there are minor plants and animals.
Today, the Dominion and Outlaws are constantly seen trying to takeover this location in vain. This effort is not successful due to various lancers' effort.
In 468 LV, when the Freelancer found was tasked to open the doors of the Fortress, the Freelancer first reached the lower courtyard, only to find several Brutes having fought and defeated Dominion enemies here. After defeating turrets and other enemies, the Freelancer went to the upper courtyard to find several Dominion being gated-in using anchored artificial gates. The Freelancer destroyed these gates and stopped more Dominion from entering this location. Later, the Freelancer fought more Dominion who had set up grounders here, while escaping them with Haluk.
