After the Freelancer returns to Fort Tarsis from helping Tassyn’s agents, Owen requests a meeting in the Fort Tarsis Bar. However, Owen doesn’t quite sound like himself.
The Freelancer must also meet with Tassyn to find out if she has decrypted the agent’ archive. Perhaps it would be best to deal with Owen’s issues before contacting Tassyn as the Freelancer won’t able to perform any missions perfectly without a trusted Cypher.
Hints and Suggestions
- The dialog exchange between the characters will change depending on whether single player or multiplayer mode is played.
- Remember to perform Feats to obtain XP for increasing Pilot Level and receiving Alliance bonus.
- There are no text pop-up
during this expedition. - Remember to collect any repair kit or ammo resupply to avoid being defeated.
- Use
Acid,
Armor Buster, or
Fire type damage to tackle Scar Enforcers and Dominion Brutes or Turrets. - Use
Ice or
Lightning or
Shield Breaker damages to deplete any shields of enemies. - Set the Dominion Valkyries on burning status by doing Fire damage to them and disable their flight until the status wears off.
- Avoid remaining near elite type Dominion Shocktroopers after they are defeated, because they drop loose death rattle grenades after their health is depleted, which self explode in a matter of seconds to do massive Lightning Blast damage.
- It is also recommended to make use of the Destructible Canisters scattered across the map during combat when in need.
- Starting from a second playthrough, if Crafting Blueprints are unlocked, it is possible to craft combat equipment to improve the health and damage output of the Freelancer's javelins.
- Although it is recommended not to, the cut scene between the mission can be skipped by pressing and holding the [BACK BUTTON] (button varies depending on the platform). If there are more than one players in the mission, everyone must perform this act.
- Interiors of Haluk's Strider cannot be explored any longer because it was patched out.
- Reviving fallen Zhim's Bodyguards or Owen’s Wasteland Ranger will contribute towards the Ally Javelins Repaired Feat, and a corresponding medal can be earned.

Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- It is still unknown who mimicked Owen’s voice when the Freelancer was called to the Bar.
- Drinking alcohol has been shown in other games, previously. However, Anthem is the only time in the history of Bioware games, someone is seen smoking a pipe!
- Tassyn reveals she found out the intel about Faye and Haluk from the Regulator camp archive. However, the real truth is discovered much later during another mission.
- Although not explicitly mentioned, it is implied that Owen was already traveling in the smuggler strider before the Freelancer even begun the expedition outside the walls, perhaps even a day or two earlier. Because it takes a while to reach the strider from Fort Tarsis to the Tracks of Midderon. Fortunately, a “secret” smuggler tunnel is mentioned, which is conveniently never shown.
- The weapons seen in the first scar camp are Dominion weapons. Their designs are similar to what Dominion Shocktroopers use and would later be the basis for Pulse Accelerators.
- The relics seen in the second Scar camp have the same designs as broken relic fragments during relic silencing missions/contracts/world events.
- This is the first time a regular sized Ursix is shown and revealed that people eat it.
- The guard outside the hideout is named Zhim's Bodyguard like other lancers inside regulator javelins.
- Zhim's Bodyguards use the Banshee Armor Pack on their Elementalist pilots and Reaper Armor Pack on their Wasteland Ranger pilots before and during the cut scene. Their Interceptor uses the Default Interceptor Armor Pack.
- After the cut scene, the allies from Zhim’s side are seen equipping default Elementalist javelin and Ranger MKII javelins with different designs.
- Regardless of the time of the day outside, the cutscene always happens at dusk.
- Skorpedon is not the same as a scorpion. Although, during a Live Stream, Ben Irving (the Lead Producer of Anthem) referred to the Skorpions during a combat as Skorpedons. Stingers of no revealed skoripions match the skorpedon stinger from the cut scene.
- The Mantikar pheromone sac is the same which Aushkiir presented to Zhim over a year ago in the short story Bountiful Hunt.
- The Mantikar pheromone sac shares some of its design similarities with Chimeric Compound.
- The interceptor standing behind Haluk and Faye is one of the two interceptors seen during the entire game, who is not the Freelancer. The other is Freelancer Grace in the opening scene of Silence the Heart of Rage.
- The pilot inside the interceptor is very likely Aushkiir, a.k.a. Kiir from Bountiful Hunt.
- Princess Zhim’s hideout can only be visited during the cut scene.
- For a pilot who has barely had adequate training using a javelin (details can be read in Mail from Owen), Owen’s additional dialogs suggest that he is quite capable until his javelin locked up.
- Haluk’s strider’s movement shown while rescuing Owen is the first time a mobile strider is shown in the game (not counting certain Freeplay World Events). This also upholds the fact that striders are fully animated.
- Haluk mentions his strider is in the Fort. It is the large javelin inside the enclave that is under a cloth.
- This is the first time the true interior of a Strider is shown, and not just the launch deck like in Silence the Heart of Rage.
- Around the time of launch, due to a bug, the insides of Haluk's Strider would show up after the cut scene ended. This was patched out to be unavailable to ensure the Launch Bay was used.
- Several toys including plush Ursix, wooden striders and more can be seen inside Haluk’s Strider.
- This is the first time actual liquid—especially one that is animated—is shown inside cups in any Bioware game.
- It is implied that it took several days for Haluk to take the strider back to the Fort.
Below is the Script and Walkthrough for Finding Old Friends (Mission):
Briefing
When Owen intercepts the Freelancer’s link, they have no choice but to meet him at the Bar.
Discuss an Important Matter with Owen
The Freelancer goes to the Fort Tarsis Bar to look for Owen.
Visit the Bar
Owen has secluded himself in a boot and is relaxing whilst smoking a pipe.
- Owen: "(Inhales from the pipe.)"
- The Freelancer: "What’s up?"
- Owen: "(Exhales smoke.) What you talking about? You called me, mate."
- The Freelancer: "No, you—"
- Owen: "Oh, hold on a sec…"
Owen quickly gets on his feet while hiding his pipe. The Freelancer notices that Tassyn enters the bar with her Sentinel guard. The people inside the Bar slowly start clearing out as Tassyn speaks.
- Tassyn: "The Monitor is leading a mission back into the Heart of Rage. He wants to weaponize the Cenotaph. We decrypted the archive from the Regulator camp earlier and we know why he’s after unique Shaper relics."
- The Freelancer: "Doesn’t mean he’ll succeed."
- Tassyn: "Did you know the Monitor was there when the Dominion attacked Freemark—one of the few who escaped when the Cenotaph leveled the city."
Tassyn goes towards a table and pours herself a drink.
- Owen: "Oh, shit!"
- Tassyn: "He’s ruthless, driven and savage, an incredibly powerful cypher and a brilliant pilot. He frightens even his own people."
- The Freelancer: "The storm will tear him apart. No one survives the Heart of Rage."
- Tassyn: "Ha, you did. (Swallows drink.) The intel also reveals that he’s perfected a way to harness the power of the Cenotaph, and we cannot let that happen."
She pours herself another glass of drink. Owen grabs a nearby glass already containing a liquid, which was probably his own, and clinks it with Tassyn’s. She doesn’t seem impressed.
- Owen: "Obviously."
Owen chugs his drink.
- Tassyn: "I need you to find a way through the Heart of Rage, get to the Cenotaph first, and silence it. Do what Freelancers do."
- Owen: "(Swallows drink.)(Coughs.) “Do what Freelancers do”? you’re talking about a bloody Cataclysm!"
Owen puts his glass on the table as Tassyn drinks.
- Tassyn: "(Swallows drink.)"
Tassyn keeps her glass down.
- The Freelancer: "He’s right. We aren’t equipped to take that on."
- Tassyn: "Hmm. Of course. Well, I can think of others who survived the Heart of Rage that day. Who never let it go. Studied it."
- The Freelancer: "Oh. Come on."
- Owen: "I feel like I’m supposed to know this one. But…"
- The Freelancer: "My old partners. Haluk and Faye."
Tassyn raises her palm. Her Bodyguard walks towards her handing her a scroll.
- Tassyn: "Intel says that the Monitor is on their trail. It suggests Faye has found something important. Last known location."
Tassyn holds the archive in front of the Freelancer.
- Owen: "Oh, I can… (Clears throat.)"
Owen goes to take the archive, but Tassyn pulls it back, staring at him. After an instant, she hands it to Owen, who is happy to receive it. Tassyn and the Sentinel go away.
- Owen: "So. Haluk and Faye. “Intel says” your partnership ended badly."
- The Freelancer: "I don’t know. We just kind of grew apart."
- Owen: "Really? ‘Cause I heard Haluk never forgave you for pulling him out of that storm an d Faye went—(Whistles.)"
Owen makes a gesture which clearly suggested that Faye was mentally damaged during the cataclysm.
- The Freelancer: "Where are we going?"
- Owen: "Oh right. (Clears throat.) Oh, you’re kidding me… no. Haluk and Faye are working with Princess Zhim."
Owen looks concerned.
- The Freelancer: "The Regulator boss?"
- Owen: "Oh, please. She’s a smuggler at best; she’s a full-fledged crime lord at worst. We really need them?"
- The Freelancer: "To get to the Heart of Rage, and beat the Monitor to the Cenotaph? Yeah, we need them."
- Owen: "But do we? You and I, we’re a solid team already."
- The Freelancer: "Of course. That’s why Tassyn picked us. You got my back, I got yours."
- Owen: "All right, considering the Monitor is both Lancer and Cypher, we could probably use a very fabulous cypher-javelin pilot combo of our own."
- The Freelancer: "Owen, be patient. Pilot lessons are going fine—but seriously, it might take you years."
- Owen: "Okay. You know this might be fun. Apparently Princess Zhim’s camp is like a travelling carnival. Well, now it’s a travelling carnival run by bloodthirsty gangsters—oh, who like gifts. So you’ll need to get her something to get in. what could possibly go wrong?"
Owen goes away playing with the scroll in his hands
- The Freelancer: "Mmm, yeah. What could possibly go wrong?"
Find Haluk and Faye at “Princess” Zhim's Hideout
The Freelancer prepares for the expedition.
Launch Expedition
The Freelancer ventures outside the walls.
Briefing Gallery
In Expedition
Owen has already done his research, and since he is a cypher, he is able to transfer this information to the Freelancer’s javelin. This works better with an amplifier chair.
The Freelancer waits for Owen’s message by Tarsis Falls.
Collect Tribute for Entry into “Princess” Zhim’s Hideout
The Freelancer takes off.
Locate Scar Camp
- Owen: "Like I said, you won’t get to see Princess Zhim without bringing gifts. I’ve marked locations where we’ll find something that should work."
- The Freelancer: "Tribute for a “princess,” huh?"
- Owen: "It’ll give me time to meet you there."
- The Freelancer: "Wait, what?"
- Owen: "You think I’d miss the reunion with your mates? I’ve hitched a ride on a smuggler’s strider."
- The Freelancer: "Owen…"
- Owen: "It’ll be fine. Uh, wait, one of them’s coming. Back in a sec."
The Freelancer flies to the coordinates through Tears of Liatrelle given by Owen. Meanwhile, Owen is traveling to Princess Zhim’s Hideout in a Regulator strider.
- Owen: "Okay. I’m borrowing this strider’s amplifier. Crammed in with smuggled grabbits."
- The Freelancer: "It’s not safe out here."
- Owen: "Safe gets boring. Time for a Freelancer adventure. You’ll see."
The Freelancer reaches the Scar camp at Blackshore.
- Owen: "Some Scars in the area stole weapons from Princess Zhim. Getting them back for her could be a good icebreaker. They’re gonna put up a fight, though."
Defeat Scars
The Freelancer fights a bunch of Scars.
- Owen: "It’s a wonder Scars even know what to do with guns. They’re just a bunch of bugs."
- The Freelancer: "Well, they’ve got pretty good aim!"
Additional heavy Scars spawn in through gates.
- Owen: "Well, we stirred thigs up now."
The Freelancer defeats all the Scars, including the heavy enemies.
- Owen: "Now take a look around for a weapons cache."
Find Weapons Cache
The Freelancer finds the weapons cache with the help of their javelin’s radar and collects the weapons inside them.
- Owen: "Okay, we got the weapons. Good, but it’s not enough. Regulators aren’t easily impressed. I’ve marked the next location."
Locate Next Scar Camp
The Freelancer travels to the next camp where more Scars and turrets wait for them.
- The Freelancer: "What are we getting here?"
- Owen: "Relics. The Scars took a few from Zhim’s merry band of smugglers. Of course, they probably stole them first, but…it will score points with Zhim if we get them back, after you take care of the walking bugs."
Defeat Scars
The Freelancer fights the Scars and their turrets.
- Owen: "They’re fighting like they mean it. I never understood what Scars even want with relics."
- The Freelancer: "Not the time to ask them. Where are you anyway?"
- Owen: "Lost track. The strider’s taken so many turns. I think we’re following an old smuggler’s route."
When the freelancer defeats all the enemies
- Owen: "Okay. See if you can find the relics."
Find Relics
The Freelancer searches for the relics and finds them in a bunch of crates.
- Owen: "We got the relics. Almost have enough. Need one last bit of trouble for the “princess.” Location marked."
Locate Final Tribute
The Freelancer flies to the next location at the Abyssal Loch to find Scars fighting a large beast.
- Owen: "Y’see that Ursix? He’s your next fight."
- The Freelancer: "Uh, why?"
- Owen: "Princess Zhim loves to throw a good party. I hear grilled Ursix is her favorite dish."
Defeat Ursix
The Freelancer fights the ursix, while dealing with scar enemies. It is not easy to fight this Apex Enemy, especially when the Freelancer’s javelin might not be strong enough at this point. However, the ursix is still defeated.
- Owen: "Good. Now grab a chunk of that meat. I’m sure that Scars will eat the rest."
The Freelancer collects ursix meat, which is shown as a Key Item type of resupply unit.
- Owen: "Ah-ha. Good, we got it. One slab of ursix, ready to serve. Fresher the better. Now let’s deliver it. I’ve marked the location for Princess Zhim’s hideout."
Enter Princess Zhim’s Hideout
The Freelancer flies through a Shaper Tunnel to reach the the Hureen Slide.
Travel to Hideout
The Freelancer flies to the new location provided by Owen, and heads towards Serpent's View.
- Owen: "My strider’s approaching Zhim’s place. Now before this “reunion” kicks off, do you really think Haluk and Faye will help?"
- The Freelancer: "We’re all professionals."
- Owen: "Yeah, and I’ve seen professionals beat each other silly."
- The Freelancer: "It won’t be like that. The stakes are too high."
- Owen: "Let’s hope. If the Dominion harness the Cenotaph, bad blood will be the least of our worries."
When the Freelancer is around the hideout in Giant's Crossroads.
- Owen: "Okay, I’ve managed to sneak in."
- The Freelancer: "How?"
- Owen: "I hid in the grabbit cage. It wasn’t my proudest moment."
- The Freelancer: "If the Regulators catch you…"
- Owen: "Yeah, it’s not a problem. This place is one giant party! I’ll see you inside."
The Freelancer reaches Tracks of Midderon. The hideout is in its vicinity, which was already marked by Owen. At reaching Princess Zhim's Hideout, the Freelancer is stopped by a guard in front of the hideout. The Freelancer speaks with Zhim's Bodyguard.
- Guard: "Who are you?"
- The Freelancer: "Need to see some friends of mine. They’re working with Princess Zhim."
- Guard: "What did you bring?"
- The Freelancer: "Tribute for her royal highness."
- Guard: "Hmm. It’s adequate. You can go inside."
When the Freelancer goes inside the hideout, they exit the javelin. There are several people and javelins around celebrating. The Freelancer gets greeted by a merry Owen.
- The Freelancer: "How was the trip?"
- Owen: "Oh, the trip? Oh, it was fabulous. Yeah, I just love hitching a ride on a smuggler strider. It was first-class comfort all the way."
Meanwhile a Performer Page makes a fanfare announcement.
- Performer: "Behold the wonders of the palace! All hail Princess Zhim! Long may she reign!"
- Owen: "Ha. They do know she is not a, uh, a real princess, right? She’s just a smuggler with delusions of grandeur."
- The Freelancer: "You scope this place out yet?"
- Owen: "What, you think I went in there alone? Are you crazy? No, I’ve been standing here, waiting for you. Besides, it’s your friends we’re looking for."
- The Freelancer: "Let’s go find Haluk and Faye."
- Owen: "Ah, come on."
The Freelancer wanders through the celebration as people stare at them. While that happened, Owen spotted where Haluk and Faye were.
- Owen: "Hey, is that them over there?"
The Freelancer walks in the direction Owen pointed. A group of people have circled around a Regulator woman. A shirtless overweight man is seated in front of her. While a Cypher is standing beside this man, an armed Interceptor javelin stands behind them.
- Haluk: "Ah, pleasure doing business princess."
- Princess Zhim: "Our business is not yet completed."
- Haluk: "No? I thought we had a—"
Haluk looks at the Freelancer walking towards them and pauses for a short duration.
- Haluk: "—deal."
Faye and Zhim both look at the Freelancer.
- Princess Zhim: "Who is this Haluk?"
- Haluk: "No one."
- Faye: "An old friend."
- Princess Zhim: "Please—invite your old friend over to join us."
- Haluk: "Ah. Um… sorry, but we gotta go."
- Princess Zhim: "No. First, we celebrate our new partnership in the tradition of my people. Come closer, friend of Haluk."
Zhim claps. As Faye makes room, a masked server brings a plate topped with a cloche and places it in front of Haluk. He opens it to reveal a pointy object on the plate.
- Faye: "Skorpedon stinger. Highly acidic. It’s going to burn going down. A lot."
- Haluk: "Um, you know, I had a big breakfast."
Zhim angrily stand up.
- Princess Zhim: "Refusing a meal is a grave insult to your host."
Faye taps Haluk, who cannot believe this is happening.
- Haluk: "Yeah… oh, boy."
He reluctantly grabs the stinger and begins eating it even more reluctantly, while occasionally retching.
- Faye: "(Clears throat.)"
- The Freelancer: "Forgive my ignorance, Princess. I didn’t know people could eat this."
- Princess Zhim: "I come from a harsh and unforgiving land. Plants are scarce. Animals even more. Before the Dominion conquered us, we had a saying. “Food is life. Life is struggle.” We understood that. We embraced it. It helped make us strong."
Haluk couldn’t eat anymore.
- Haluk: "(Grunts.) Thanks for the meal, Princess."
- Princess Zhim: "That was just the appetizer…"
Zhim clapped. The server cleared the table while a second server brought a different plate covered by a cloche. Zhim the revealed the contents of the plate to everyone.
- Zhim: "…the main course!"
Putrid gas spread out from an organ—some combination of starfish, mushroom, and squid—wriggling, squelching, making people gag.
- Haluk: "Ugh!"
- Faye: "Oh!"
- The Freelancer: "Uugh!"
- Princess Zhim: "Behold—the pheromone sac of a young mantikar, cured for an entire year in a vat of fermented chimera venom. A rare delicacy I have been saving for a special occasion."
Haluk is revolted at the sight of the mantikar organ. He pushed the plate towards Zhim and smiled at her.
- Haluk: "After you, Princess."
Zhim pushes the plate back towards Haluk and stares at him.
- Princess Zhim: "I could not dishonor myself by eating while my guests go hungry."
- The Freelancer: "I love Mantikar"
The Freelancer grabbed the convulsing organ and eats it. Faye looked at the Freelancer in disbelief, while Haluk made a disgusted face.
- Princess Zhim: "(Laughs.)"
- Faye: "Our deal?"
Zhim extends her palm for someone to hand over an object to her. She gives the object to Faye.
- Princess Zhim: "Be sure to thank your friend, Haluk."
Zhim walked away.
- Owen: "Ha… oh… you… you look a little green."
- The Freelancer: "I just need to sit down for a second."
The Freelancer sat down in front of Haluk. Haluk did not want to look at the Freelancer. He tapped his belly.
- Haluk: "What do you want?"
- Faye: "I think what he meant to say was, “Thank you.” "
- The Freelancer: "I have a contract"
- The Freelancer: "A Contract? Well, we don’t need your charity."
- Owen: "Excellent!"
- The Freelancer: "Faye, Haluk—this is Owen."
- Owen: "Cypher, and lancer in the making."
- The Freelancer: "Corvus sent me."
Haluk is shocked to hear the word Corvus, while Faye, for some reason, isn’t.
- Haluk: "Corvus? What are you, some kind of hot shot now? You gotta lot of nerve after all this time."
Haluk stood up, using his cane to support himself.
- Faye: "Quit being dramatic. Sit down."
- Haluk: "I’d rather stand."
- The Freelancer: "Let’s all go back to the strider. I’ll explain."
- Haluk: "We got our own thing going. Thanks, but no!"
- Faye: "Wait—something’s not right."
A hooded character from behind Faye fires bullets at the interceptor.
- Princess Zhim: "Dominion troops! Clear out! Scatter."
While Haluk cowered and Owen moved away. Faye took the empty plate on the table to thwack the character, revealing to be a shocktrooper. As everyone scattered in terror, the Freelancer grabbed their chair and struck another Dominion Shocktrooper with it. A Ranger helped the armed Interceptor stand up. Haluk and Faye walk away; Owen followed them.
- Faye: "We’ll keep your friend safe."
- Owen: "Don’t worry about me—I’ll see you there."
The interceptor and rangers fire at the Dominion Shocktroopers. Several people lay on the ground, perhaps dead. The Freelancer quickly makes their way to their javelin, evading being hit by the enemies.
Repel the Dominion Attack so Others Can Escape
The Freelancer exits the hideout in their javelin, back to the Tracks of Midderon.
Defeat Dominion Forces
Dominion troops begin gating in. The Freelancer and Zhim's Bodyguards fight the enemies.
- The Freelancer: "We’ve got a whole bunch of Dominion incoming."
- Faye: "Where’d they all come from?"
- The Freelancer: "We had a little run in with them earlier. Might’ve killed some of their guys!"
- Owen: "Guess that didn’t sit so well."
The Freelancer defeats the first wave of Dominion. Another wave gates in.
- Haluk: "Okay, we’re making a dash for our strider, leg be damned! Keep the heat off us!"
- Owen: "Will do! I found a javelin!"
- The Freelancer: "Owen, what are you doing?"
- Owen: "Keeping the heat off!"
- The Freelancer: "You can’t fly a suit. You’ll get yourself killed!"
- Owen: "Not if I shoot them first!"
- Owen: "This isn’t so hard. I got one!"
- Owen: "Ha! Shot another one! He thought he could sneak up on me!"
- Haluk: "Faye and I made it inside the strider. Owen, watch your back out there. You’re outnumbered."
As Haluk pilots the strider away, with Faye inside it, Owen is outside protecting the strider and keeping the enemies away.
- Owen: "How do I reload? Oh, wait, I see."
- Owen: "Got another one!"
- Owen: "Damnit, I almost had him."
- Owen: "Ow, hey! That hurt!"
The Freelancer defeats the final Dominion enemy.
- Owen: "Uh, guys, there’s too many of them! I think I overheated!"
- Haluk: "They’re coming after the strider!"
- The Freelancer: "Hang tight. I’m on my way!"
Defend the Strider from Dominion Attack
The Freelancer quickly flies away to save their friends near Helena's Walk.
Go to Strider
The Freelancer flies to the strider’s location. The Strider halts as Owen lies helplessly inside the stolen javelin, unable to move.
- The Freelancer: "Owen, I’m here!"
- Owen: "Why can’t I move?"
- The Freelancer: "You panicked. Your javelin locked up!"
- Owen: "What do I do?"
- The Freelancer: "Keep your head down."
- Owen: "Gun won’t fire! This is bad!"
Defeat Dominion Forces
Dominion forces are everywhere, and more keep gating in.
- Haluk: "Clear ‘em out. Can’t have ‘em taking shots at the strider!"
- The Freelancer: "I’m on it!"
The Freelancer defeats a few Dominion troops inside the Temple ruins.
- Owen: "Theis is not how I saw this going."
- The Freelancer: "Don’t do anything to draw their fire."
- Owen: "I’ll leave that to you!"
At this time, the Dominion troops are concentrating n the Freelancer and stronger enemies gate in!
- Faye: "It’s working. They’re ignoring Owen!"
- Owen: "(Frustrated sigh!) Give me credit for a few of them!"
- Haluk: "Come on, come on, Freelancer. Clear ‘em out. Strider can’t take much more."
- The Freelancer: "You honna help?"
- Haluk: "Love to. But my suit’s back in the Fort. Pick your targets out there. Make every round count!"
- The Freelancer: "I’ve done this before, Haluk."
- Haluk: "Look a little rusty to me."
Repair Owen’s Javelin
The Freelancer defeats every single Dominion and rushes to help Owen. The Freelancer interacts with the collapsed Wasteland Ranger to repair it.
- Owen: "Nothing’s working—I can’t—"
- Faye: "Don’t worry. You’re clear. The Dominion are licking their wounds for the moment."
- Owen: "Oh, good. I mean… we showed them. Now, I wouldn’t mind getting inside the strider?"
The Freelancer and Owen get inside Haluk’s strider.
Post Expedition
The Freelancer got out of their javelin while the strider moves. Owen is excited of his accomplishment.
- Owen: "Woo! Ha! What a rush. I’d say we really took it to the Dominion back there, right? And I think we‘ll agree that I was pretty fantastic."
- The Freelancer: "Owen! Are you serious? That was a disaster. You were a disaster. Never do that again. Please."
Owen frowns.
- Owen: "Right. I’ll just head to the Amplifier then."
- Faye: "Over here."
Faye is on the upper level of the strider, in the kitchen area. The Freelancer goes up and looks around.
- The Freelancer: "Nothing’s changed. Thought you’d probably at least painted or something."
Faye is holding a cup of tea as the Freelancer takes a seat.
- Faye: "The corrosion adds a nice patina. Shall we talk about the weather next, or have we fulfilled our quota for small talk?"
- The Freelancer: "I don’t think there’s a penalty for going over. Read any good books lately?"
- Faye: "Thousands of them. It’s been a long time, you know."
Faye sits down and pushes a cup of coffee towards the Freelancer.
- The Freelancer: "It’s good to see you again."
Faye doesn’t seem convinced.
- Faye: "Is it? You’re not just here because you need something? It doesn’t matter. You’re back."
The Freelancer sips some coffee.
- Owen (Loudspeaker): "I’m still picking up a lot of Dominion radio chatter, but we’re losing sight of our pursuers. Or not? Sorry, why have we stopped?"
- Haluk: "Ugh! Ayiyi! Damnit all to hell!"
Haluk enters.
- The Freelancer: "Haluk, you still haven’t replaced that actuator?"
- Haluk: "It’s still good! And Shut up! I got this!"
Faye follows Haluk and the Freelancer follows her.
- The Freelancer: "Yup. Off to a great start."
As Haluk is repairing the stranded strider’s engine.
- Haluk: "Where’s my socket wrench?"
- The Freelancer: "Left in the box as usual."
The Freelancer hands over the wrench.
- Haluk: "Never thought you’d be back here."
Haluk uses the wrench on a nut inside the engine.
- The Freelancer: "Life’s just full of surprises."
- Faye: "Switching off starboard power off before it overloads."
- Haluk: "Oh come on. That’s just half the fun!"
As Haluk continues to use his socket wrench, Faye turns the power off. Owen quickly comes to the engine room.
- Owen: "Can we please hurry this up? They will be on top of us any minute now!"
Haluk stares at Owen.
- Haluk: "Pliers."
The Freelancer takes the wrench in Haluk’s hand and replaces it with pliers. Haluk stares at the Freelancer for an instant, then at Owen, and then at the Freelancer before getting back to fixing the broken actuator
- Haluk: "So, what’re you doing here?"
- The Freelancer: "I’m helping you fix this garbage actuator. Again."
- Haluk: "More reliable than some. So what’s this contract of yours?"
Haluk twists the battery and pushes it inside its socket.
- Owen: "Can we please chat later? The Dominion will be here any second!"
- The Freelancer: "Owen, please! This is important just—you’re not helping."
Owen steps aside and goes towards the moving pistons.
- Haluk: "Screwdriver."
- The Freelancer: "Which one? Use your words."
- Haluk: "Three-eighths! Obviously."
As Haluk grabs the screwdriver.
- The Freelancer: "I’m going back to the Heart of Rage."
- Haluk: "Really?"
- The Freelancer: "The Dominion wants the Cenotaph. Corvus hired me to get it first."
- Faye: "Well that explains why Dominion troops showed up at Zhim’s."
- Haluk: "Faye, light us up!"
Haluk stands up as Faye turns the power on. He shuts the door of the actuator
- Haluk: "Faye and I have two years of research and leg work on this. And you want—what? Jump in the end and claim credit?"
- Faye: "Haluk. Time is of the essence. We have a lead that requires a lancer right now. Shouldn’t we work together?"
- Haluk: "No. I can handle it."
- The Freelancer: "You’ve got the Dominion on your back, and you don’t think that maybe you could use a hand?"
- Haluk: "We could find someone else."
- Owen: "You go right ahead, mate."
Faye quickly stops Owen from speaking further.
- Faye: "Not in time, we can’t."
- The Freelancer: "You need me. And I can’t finish this contract without you."
Haluk speaks with conviction.
- Haluk: "One job. Just one. I got a strider to drive."
Haluk goes towards the cockpit of the strider. The Freelancer speaks with Faye.
- The Freelancer: "You said you have a lead?"
- Faye: "We might. One moment."
Faye uses her Cypher ability to sense something
- Faye: "As expected. Hold these, please."
Faye gives the Freelancer the pliers and the screwdriver as she opens the actuator door.
- The Freelancer: "You found something… about the Cenotaph? Or the Heart of Rage?"
- Faye: "Zhim did. Pays to have friends, you know."
Owen crouches and chuckles
- Owen: "Some friends."
As Faye tightens screws of the actuator
- Faye: "I’m sure you heard of the Legion of Dawn? General Tarsis?"
- The Freelancer: "What? General Tarsis?"
- Faye: "She entered the last Heart of Rage and reached the center, the Cenotaph. How? I’ve done the research. Her javelin could do the impossible. It had unique shields and who knows what else."
Faye closes the door.
- The Freelancer: "Wait, wait—you think you found her armor? The original Javelin of Dawn?"
- Faye: "Yes. Finally! Now we just need to go get it. Interested?"
- Owen: "Well, personally, I can’t wait to see it. Just give me what intel “Her Highness” had and let’s get the expedition started!"
Owen grins as Faye reluctantly speaks.
- Faye: "No need. I’ll be supporting this mission. I’ve already done the relevant research."
- Owen: "Yeah, that makes sense."
Owen walks away, frowning. Sometime later, the Strider finally reached Fort Tarsis. The Freelancer exits their javelin from the forge.
