Storm Wyverns are elemental chimeras brought to life by the Anthem of Creation.
Etymology and Anatomy
Storm Wyvern get their names from the word Storm (A weather phenomenon known to strike lightning) and Wyvern (A winged two-legged dragon with a barbed tail; a type of elemental found on Coda). The plural of Storm Wyvern is Storm Wyverns. A group of Storm Wyverns is called a pyre.
They have a burnt umber colored leathery skin. There are several bright cyan patches on their wings and tails.
Storm Wyverns are bipedal fauna with two additional arms attached to their wings—all four of them are equipped with talons. They have a triangular head with two large reddish-brown eyes. Storm Wyverns have yellow bristles growing out of their backs and heads. They have three tails—the central tail is forked at its tip, while the side tails have bright glowing patterns.

torm Wyvern are carnivores and like to roost in high spaces.
Storm Wyverns are also very rare in Bastion, as they are assumed to be chimeras of the actual Wyverns . They are occasionally found along with Wyverns.
They don’t like the cold and being in extreme cold environments can make them go mad. They can be seen inside Shaper Ice Globes when coolant harvesting events are active. They are also seen attacking other creatures including Brutes during when the temperature is extremely cold.
Encounter Locations
Storm Wyvern aren’t native to Northern Bastion. They are rarely encountered in a few places:
- The Approach inside Echoes of Reality
- First Refuge, Sanctuary of Dunar, Honor Valley, and The Drill, but all inside a Shaper Ice Globe, when the globe is active and is being used for harvesting coolant.
Behavior and Abilities
Storm Wyvern are thought to be chimeras, so their natural instinct is to kill everything in sight.
- Ranged Lightning Blast: A Storm Wyvern stops encircling and shoots several blasts of fire balls on its targets. The range of this attack is quite high.
- Lightning Breath: A Storm Wyvern continuously breathes lightning on its targets whilst flying.
Hidden Attributes
Storm Wyvern have the following hidden attributes:
- Flight: Storm Wyvern can fly and attack their enemies.
- Instinct to Kill: Storm Wyverns exist to kill anything on sight, just like all chimeras.
- Elemental Weakness: Storm Wyverns are susceptible and can immediately explode if they come in contact with elemental status effects.
Strategy

Doing damage to or defeating these creatures can make them drop ammo and repair packs. If health or ammo is low, collect these resupplies.
Combat
Because Storm Wyverns are constantly moving, it can be difficult to target them. However, simply putting them under 
Fire status, 
Ice Status, or 
Lightning status will cause them to explode. They are generally weaker to elemental attacks than physical attacks. Otherwise, target the Storm Wyvern’s head, because that’s where it is weak.
Storm Wyvern can put a javelin under the electrocuted status.
Every Named Storm Wyvern
There are no named Storm Wyvern in the game. In fact, among non-boss, non-apex enemy types, Storm Wyverns are the least seen in the entire game.
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- Like most creatures of Coda, Storm Wyvern can glow. The cyan patches on their wings and tails glow brightly, especially in the dark.
- Storm Wyverns are the only known case of an elemental becoming a chimera. However, it is only observational, and unconfirmed as of update 1.7.0.
- The number of pips in the health/armor bar do not represent the total value. This means, two types can have same number of pips, but the stronger type (legendary or elite) will have a significantly higher health than their weaker counterparts.
- The ability names are taken from the Anthem Prima Guide and datamined files. They may have been slightly modified to avoid confusion with other in-game names.
