During the spread of Echoes of Reality Cataclysm, several anomalies spawned storm gates in Bastion. Five such anomalies were found in Northern Bastion, which turned out to be gates to an alternate reality in the form of conjunctions. The storm gate always formed above a massive crystal tower.
The anomalies threw waves of enemies through gates for a Freelancer squad to before they could be contained. Each conjunction had three Tiers of hordes, which include defeating enemies and destroying crystals, and in the third tier, defeating a new apex enemy.

Gameplay Mechanisms
- During the original run, anomalies opened in the Freeplay Map every 25 minutes.
- Since Update 1.7.0,
- At one instance, only 1 conjunction is active and resets when there are no lancers inside a conjunction. each reset timer lastes about 5 minutes.
- While waiting for the storm gate to open, creatures including Elementals, Brutes, scars, wolven, and skorpions spawn under the gate. Around the same time small and large crystals grow from the ground, destroying which will reward crystal currency. This mechanism is obsolete since the end of thr original Echoes of Reality run.
- At the end of each tier, a Treasure Chest will unlock rewarding with embers, crystals, and loot. Since the end of the original run of Echoes of Reality in 2019, only embers and loot rewards can be obtained, and no crystals are rewarded unless they are a part of daily Path to Glory challenges.
- During each tier, crystals will grow from the ground. If these crystals are not destroyed, the conjunction will fail and the Freelancer will be kicked out into the Freeplay World.
- Although the anomalies look similar, each of them has different environmental aesthetics.

Notes and Remarks
- Each anomaly must be entered through the open storm gate before it closes.
- The Freelancer will automatically be transported to Northern Bastion at the end of a successfully contained conjunction or if they are downed and cannot be revived.
- A conjunction cannot be entered once it closes or once the Freelancer has been kicked out.
- The dialogs mentioned in the script can vary across different play-throughs and different repetition of the game modes. The dialog will be taken from a pool that get rotated in-game. The script mentioned here is from one such instance.
