Like the chimera, Furies are no longer what they once were. Even their Dominion masters are wary of them, for their only thought is to kill.

Dominion Furies are one of the Dominion elite forces, they are created through numerous biological experimentation by harnessing the power of the Anthem of Creation.

Etymology and Anatomy

Fury gets its name from the word Fury (A spirit of punishment in Greek Mythology, or violence displayed in someone’s action). Like their name suggest they punish their enemies violently as they themselves are unstable and in constant pain.

Furies are a menacing Dominion enemies that pursue their foes aggressively. They are created by fusing people with fauna and artificially elongating one arm to fit many seals. These additional seals are the reason why they can do so much damage.

Furies have a massive head and a tall, lanky body. Their heads have two eyes and a mouth and are encased in a metallic control helmet that cannot be destroyed (but can be damaged). Due to their one arm being elongated, they have a slightly awkward gait. Their feet have 3 talon-like digits, while their hands have 3 lanky appendages for digits.

Narrative Involvement

Dominion Fury 2

Dominion Fury Using Entropy Projectiles

Furies being apex enemies, show up towards the end of a battle. Furies appear as target enemies during several battles against the Dominion. Several named furies have made an appearance throughout the main story and agent quests or contracts. They can also be rarely encountered in Freeplay on their own.

The first fury is witnessed during a recollection of the past told by the Freelancer Veteran Yarrow after returning to Fort Tarsis once Matthias is rescued after the mission Lost Arcanist. This story tells the accounts of the Dominion’s unleashing of the Heart of rage and how Freelancer Jani escapes a Fury and rescues a child.

The first encounter with a fury happens during the mission Freelancer Down. After that, two named Furies called Keeper and Hoarder are encountered.

After silencing the Heart of Rage, two named furies called Pride of Frostkeln and Bane of Freemark are encountered during the mission One of Us.

During the mission What Harken Wants two more furies are encountered. The first one is called Crystal Guardian and the second one Ancient Crystal Guardian while Echoes of Reality was causing havoc. Echoes of Reality also had a Riftmaster Fury in the Diana’s Landing event.

Encountered Expeditions

At least one Dominion Fury can show up in the below list.

Encounter Locations

The following places are all the locations where Dominion Fury can be found, either physically or in the lore. They may not be always found there, but have a high chance of being found in these locations.

Behavior and Abilities

Furies have several abilities and survival tactics. Combat with a fury can be treacherous. They have the following abilities:

  • Entropy Projectiles: Furies release a volley of red projectiles which can do massive damage to their foes.
  • Entropy Dispersion: Furies can send out random projectiles when inside the crystal barrier at the brink of their deaths.
  • Projectile Burst: The Unfathomed summons an orb that shoots rapid moving purple electric beams.
  • Melee Swipe: Furies rapidly swing their elongated arms from left to right dealing massive blast damage.
  • Teleport: Furies can teleport to short distances.

Hidden Attributes

Furies have three hidden attributes:

  • Healing Damage: Any damage dealt by a Fury slightly restores its health.
  • Crystal barrier: A Fury can encase itself inside a darkly colored crystal barrier which is nearly impenetrable.
  • Desperation for Healing : Successfully done Entropy Dispersion attack will bring a fury back from the brink of death by restoring its health.

Strategy

Dominion Fury 3

Dominion Fury uses Entropy Dispersion

Dominion Furies are heavily armored enemies. Being apex enemies, they have an extremely high health pool, and they are the only apex enemies to be shielded.

  • Special Weakness to Shields: Shield Breaker, Lightning
  • Special Resistance to Shields: Armor Buster, Fire, Acid
  • Special Weakness to Armor: Armor Buster, Fire, Acid
  • Special Resistance to Armor: Shield Breaker, Lightning

Overview

Furies are excellent at making sure their foes do not attempt at doing a large amount of damage to the Dominion, earning them the role of a spike suppressor. They also are good at flushing their foes from hiding.

Their constant barrage of projectiles can not only do damage, but also stagger their foes. Getting inside their barrier and using Dispersion can heal them. But getting close to them to do melee damage forces the Furies to either teleport to a different location or use melee swipe. If a Fury feels confident enough, it can even teleport to one of its foes and deal a lot of melee damage.

Combat

When a Fury raises its elongated arm, it is preparing to launch Entropy Projectiles. If it teleports closer, then a Melee Swipe is its next move. These cues should let any javelin to either find cover or target the Fury while dodging its attacks.

When Furies take enough damage, they condense themselves inside a barrier. This barrier is nearly immune to all damages, and only acid attacks that have a 100 effect can do any damage to the fury inside the barrier. If a Fury’s attack hits its target, it gains some of its health back.

If a Fury is inside its barrier, it can launch Dispersion that work similar to entropy projectiles, but from within the crystal barrier. If its health is too low while using Dispersion, it regenerates its health. This will be a cue to try and finish them off when they are out of the barrier.

Targeting the weak points, especially with anti-armor damage attacks, will bring the Fury down faster.

At regular intervals of reducing their health, Dominion Furies drop ammo and repair kits. Use these resupplies to replenish your javelin.

Every Named Dominion Fury

There are several named Dominion Furies encountered throughout the game. Legendary Furies are also quite common if there are 3 or 4 javelins in a squad during contracts.

Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)

  • Even when a Fury is not inside its darkly-colored crystal barrier, it has another kinetic shield protecting it. This makes Furies the only enemies that can have 3 layers of health. Although the crystal barrier is not shown as any health.
  • Furies are unstable creatures, according to Doctor Harken.
  • Furies are the only known enemies that can regenerate their non-shield health.
  • The ability names are taken from the Anthem Prima Guide and datamined files. They may have been slightly modified to avoid confusion with other in-game names.
