...The Dominion had a strange creature with it today. It seemed like a brute, but was wearing a helmet or canister of some sort… and it was … it wasn’t a chimera but it was darn close... |
Dominion Frost Brutes are weaponized creatures used by the Dominion. They are more powerful than the regular Brutes and are capable of doing intense lightning damage.
Etymology and Anatomy
Frost Brutes gain their names from Frost (the deposition of ice) and Brute (A ruthless fauna called Brute, naturally found on Coda).
Frost Brutes are weaponized Brutes with an attacked control collar on their heads. The Dominion experiments of using control collars and seals has turned them to pale blue than their natural counterparts’ green. The new seals have modified their organic acid powers into ice.
Narrative Involvement
Weaker types of Dominion Frost Brutes are commonly found in battlefields during skirmishes with the Dominion. Stronger types (elite and legendary) are usually sent out by the Dominion through gates when they are desperate to win.

Behavior and Abilities
Dominion Frost Brutes have the following abilities:
- Melee Strikes: Dominion Frost Brutes do a melee hit using each hand.
- Ice Blast: Dominion Frost Brutes spew ice projectiles from their mouth if their foes are at a distance.
Hidden Attributes
Dominion Frost Brutes have two hidden attributes:
- Control Collar: Weaponized Frost Brutes are under the control of the Dominion as long as their collar works. If the collar is damaged, their controlled mind is freed—they will also turn on everything around them, including their former masters.
- Teleportation: Frost Brutes can teleport to short distances.
Strategy
Dominion Frost Brutes have armored health. They are weak to fire and acid based attacks.
Dominion Frost Brute shoots Ice Blast
When a Frost Brute approaches the javelin, it is preparing for its Melee Strike. When the javelin is at a distance, it will shoot Ice Blast. This attack will do damage and freeze the javelin for a short amount of time. So, keep moving. Frost Brutes can also teleport near their foes and follow up with Melee Strikes
Target the glowing lights on its collar first. If the lights on the collar becomes yellow, it means that the collar is nearly broken. If it stops glowing it indicates that it is broken and the Frost Brutes begin to attack everything around them (including you).
Targeting the head of the Frost Brute will do more damage to it, since that’s where the weak point is located.
Doing damage to or defeating the Frost Brutes can make them drop ammo and repair packs. If health or ammo is low, collect these resupplies.
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- Before update 1.3.0, Dominion Frost Brutes also had shields in their health pool, making them tougher to defeat.
- The control collar is also referred to as a canister in the cortex entry.
- The number of pips in the health/armor bar do not represent the total value. This means, two types can have same number of pips, but the stronger type (legendary or elite) will have a significantly higher health than their weaker counterparts.
- The ability names are taken from the Anthem Prima Guide and datamined files. They may have been slightly modified to avoid confusion with other in-game names.
