War Bird is a cosmetic item called a Vinyl, which is classified as a Decal.
Decals are Cosmetic items that can be used to personalize javelins in the Forge. Vinyls are stickers that can be added over the paint job of a javelin. These stickers do not take the texture of the Material applied to the paint job, but they will take on the bumps on the material underneath. They can either have a plastic, matte, or shiny finish.
Application in the Forge
Decals are the smallest type of Vinyls that are barely visible on the surface of a javelin. However, when observed closely, they add a unique flair to the javelin’s Paint Job.
Decals can be equipped in the Forge by selecting the Vinyls slot in the Appearance Tab. They can also be checked in the Forge before purchasing them in any store.
Decals make up the bulk of the cosmetic items released for Anthem with over 150 individual items. All but the Default Javelin decal can be used by any javelin. Decals obtained as rewards for completing Challenges can only be checked after they are unlocked by completing the challenge.
Dates Available
Note: Since Anthem's rework and further development was cancelled on its second anniversary, the dates will not be updated anymore since then.
Decal: War Bird was a time limited cosmetic available through Elysian Caches. It was obtainable only for a duration of 40 days between March 26th 2019 and May 5th 2019.
These Elysian items were unlocked by opening said Elysian Caches at the end of Strongholds, if a player wanted to.
One lancer opening the cache would reward all Freelancers in the team with a randomly selected reward, from within the cache's pool of 162 items—each of which could only be obtained once. This presented an opportunity to obtain Decal: War Bird as well.
