Cosmetics, sometimes called Appearance Items or Vanity Items, are optional design choices that can be used to personalize the javelins. Cosmetics are also used by non playable characters.
Currently, there are a total of more than 750 cosmetics available to the players in game, but not all of them can be obtained, as some are limited by how they can be obtained, whereas several are unreleased.

Cosmetics are not only used by the Freelancer, but they are used by all factions. They are used by all sentient non-Elemental species of Coda. Factions not only decorate their icons on their members, but also use their colors on the equipment that belong to them.
Humans use cosmetics to customize their javelins, striders, clothing, household items, houses, settlements, and many more items. During festive times, the cities are decorated with special and colorful banners to represent the season and joy.
Each faction has its own color they use to represent in their cosmetic items. they may choose to use other colors, but these are the most prominent choice of colors used by them. Faction members are seen proudly wearing their faction logo on their javelins, clothing, banners, and uniforms as stickers, sewn patches, lapels and other decorative items:
- Arcanists: White, silver, and green earth
- Bards: Beige and blue
- Corvus: Red, white, and green
- Cyphers: Black and various shades of gray
- Dominion: Black, gold, and white
- Engineers: Oil red, gray and grease green
- Freelancers: Freelancer yellow, black, gray
- Legion of Dawn: Gold and metallic colors
- Outlaws: Brown, gray, and fluorescent yellow
- Paladins: Assumed bluish green based on Season of Skulls of 468 LV.
- Regulators: Dark green and black
- Scars: Various colors of corrosion and decay such as rust brown
- Sentinels: Sentinel blue, white, and silver
Cosmetics Types[]
There are 6 types of Cosmetics available to the Freelancer in Anthem:
- Armor Packs and Armor Parts for each of the 4 javelins
- Materials and metal plating to change the texture of the javelins and color them using Paint Jobs
- Vinyls that are used to add special stickers of matte, glossy, or shiny designs and patterns
- Animations that a javelin can perform at the start of, during and at the end of an expedition
- Wear States that can show how worn out the javelin is
- Banners that can change the image, color, and patterns of certain backgrounds where the Pilot's name is displayed
Methods to Obtain[]
Cosmetics are very versatile and can be obtained in many different ways:
- Available by default in the Forge
- Purchase them in the Featured Store which sells cosmetics exclusively
- Purchase in the Seasonal Store
- Purchase in the Forge
- Win as rewards for completing challenges
- Obtain through promotional methods and claim them in the rewards tab of the store
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)[]
- There are cosmetic items based on items and concepts that have not been shown, but only mentioned in the game through lore, conversations, or external media.
- The only theme that every cosmetic types other than the wear states can have is Fauna based designs.
- There are at least 71 non-banner type cosmetics that are unreleased to the players.
- There are many banner types that have image associated with them, but remain unreleased.
