Hints and Suggestions

  • The dialog exchange between the characters will change depending on whether single player or multiplayer mode is played.
  • Remember to perform Feats to obtain XP for increasing Pilot Level and receiving Alliance bonus.
  • This particular expedition may have a video walkthrough after the Cortex Entry section for documentation.
  • Defeat hordes of enemies using Blast Damage.
  • Fight armored targets with fire or acid or Armor Buster.
  • Strip the shields of shielded enemies using lightning or Shield Breaker.
  • There will be 3 sub-contracts within this contract. There will be at least one target enemy in the final sub-contract.

Freelancers are skilled at survival beyond the wall. For citizens who must travel, trade, or conduct research out in the wild, a Freelancer is often the only thing standing between them and an unfortunate fate.

Outcome: You figure the success with helping those Arcanists outside the walls with their tests has brought in some more contracts. People may be reluctant to use a Freelancer, but they can't argue with the results.

Video Walkthrough

The below video is on rotation. The cycle repeats after 4 days. The type of javelin used, the voice of the Freelancer, and any possible season changes during each rotation. If any Cypher Annotations are found, they are mentioned in the video’s description. Not all such annotations are in one video, but all 4 videos will make up for each other’s shortcomings, if any.

Quest Chain

This expedition is a part of the Keeping Promises Storyline. When the storyline is completed, an appropriate challenge is also completed, which will reward the Freelancer. The following are the related quests in order for this storyline:

Briefing

The Freelancer can simply go to the contract board in the Enclave to get the briefing of the mission.

  • Yarrow: "Oh-oh, so soon? Good. I have contracts for you. To change minds around here, we need to get out there and do good work. Remind people they can count on us, you hear me?"
  • The Freelancer: "I hear you."

Ensure Safety of the Citizens Beyond the Wall

The Freelancer prepares for the contract.

Launch Expedition

The Freelancer ventures outside the walls if the fort.

Briefing Gallery

In Expedition

  • The Freelancer: "You reading me, Yarrow? What’s the contract?"

Rescue the Arcanists

  • Yarrow: "Got agroup of Arcanists needing assistance. Get 'em back here."
  • The Freelancer: "Understood. Let’s see what I can do."

Locate Camp

The Freelancer flies to the location provided by Yarrow. There are skorpions causing trouble by nesting in an Arcanist camp.

  • Yarrow: "Keep them alive. That’s the most important thing."
  • The Freelancer: "Understood."

Arcanists Rescued

The Freelancer must rescue 4 arcanists trapped inside skorpion web by destroying them. When the first Arcanist is rescued,

  • Arcanist #1: "Timely arrival. Thank you."
  • Yarrow: "One down. Good. All right, anyone hurt? Quickly prepare for more."

When the second Arcanist is rescued,

  • Arcanist Field Researcher #1: "So fortunate you arrived when you did. Thank you."
  • Yarrow: "One more done. Excellent."

When the third Arcanist is rescued,

  • Arcanist Field Researcher #2: "I can’t thank you enough."
  • Yarrow: "Soon you finish."

When the final Arcanist is rescued,

  • Arcanist #2: "Thanks for the help."
  • Yarrow: "Okay, that’s done."

When all the skorpions are defeated,

  • The Freelancer: "Killed all the skorpions."
  • Yarrow: "Good. They won’t be causing any more trouble."
  • Yarrow: "Excellent—but not done yet. So much trouble out there today! Outlaws are causing problems close by. Get over there and see what you can find."

Defeat the Outlaws

All outlaws must be defeated.

Travel to Location

  • The Freelancer: "Okay. Understood."

The Freelancer goes to the new location.

  • Yarrow: "These Outlaws have turrets. We can’t be having that, no. Destroy them."
  • The Freelancer: "I understand"

Destroy the Turrets

The Freelancer must destroy 2 turrets along with fighting several enemies from the outlaw faction. When the first turret is destroyed

  • Yarrow: "That was quick. Keep at it."

When all turrets are destroyed

  • Yarrow: "Turrets are down. Take care of the remaining outlaws."

Eliminate Outlaws

When all the enemies are defeated,

  • The Freelancer: "All clear. Enemies down."
  • Yarrow: "They are scattered. You have won."
  • Yarrow: "Ah, yes, good job. Uh, something else has come up, though…"

Assist the Freelancer

  • Yarrow: "One of our own is in trouble. Freelancers need to watch out for each other."
  • The Freelancer: "Understood. Let’s see what I can do."

Travel to Location

The Freelancer goes to find their ally in trouble

  • Freelancer: "Freelancer, let’s get this cleaned up."
  • Yarrow: "Help them. You are not too late."
  • The Freelancer: "You got it."

Eliminate Scar

Scars have ambushed the area. When the ambush is cleared,

  • Yarrow: "There is more out there. Hold your position."

Defeat Scar Reinforcements

A Scar Hive surfaces with reinforcement which the Freelancer can destroy. A gate spawns more scars. The Freelancer fights all of them and defeats them

  • Yarrow: "Careful, a very potent Scar has arrived. You make trouble, you get trouble."

Eliminate Targeted Scar

A High-Ranking/Heavy Scar shows up with more reinforcement

  • The Freelancer: "Understood."

The Freelancer fights and defeats the targeted scar.

  • Yarrow: "Very good. But you can’t let the rest get away. Understand?"
  • The Freelancer: "On it."

Defeat Remaining Scar

The Freelancer fights more scars and defeats them all

  • The Freelancer: "All the Scars are down."
  • Freelancer: "Good to see more Freelancers out here. Thanks for the assist."
  • Yarrow: "They are scattered. You have won. Wonderful! You have finished everything! You should celebrate!"

Post Expedition

The Freelancer returns to the Fort.

Notes and Remarks

  • This expedition has no conversational cut scene during briefing.
  • This expedition has no conversational de-briefing post mission.
  • The dialogs mentioned in the script can vary across different play-throughs and different repetition of the game modes. The dialog will be taken from a pool that get rotated in-game. The script mentioned here is from one such instance only.
