Yarrow has contracted the Freelancer to help the people outside the walls and not let anything dangerous happen to the Fort.

Hints and Suggestions

  • The dialog exchange between the characters will change depending on whether single player or multiplayer mode is played.
  • Remember to perform Feats to obtain XP for increasing Pilot Level and receiving Alliance bonus.
  • This particular expedition may have a video walkthrough after the Cortex Entry section for documentation.
  • Not letting Scars inside the Cypher Projected circle is key to quickly finishing the recovery.
  • Area of damage dealing abilities are useful in dealing with large hordes or Scars or Outlaws.
  • It is easy to deal with heavy enemies with acid or fire if they are armored.
  • Stripping shields from flying enemies and then wither using ice to freeze them or fire to keep them from being in the air is the most effective.
  • Dealing with turrets is easy. All enemy turrets have a blind spot when staying at point blank. At that juncture, use fire or acid to do the most damage. Turret also have weak points, but because they keep rotating, it may be difficult to target them.

The smooth operation of Fort Tarsis and the lives of the citizens who live here are dependent on Freelancers helping prevent problems from reaching the walls and lending aid to those in need.

Outcome: You're unsure if it's a genuine need for Freelancer assistance in a region that is growing increasingly unstable, or simply a shift in public perception of the role Freelancers play in Fort Tarsis. Either way, more contracts are appearing on Yarrow's board.

Video Walkthrough

Video guides are added for convenience and documentation of Anthem-logoAnthem. These guides show almost all possible incidents that may occur during each playthrough of this particular expedition.

The below video is on rotation. The cycle repeats after 4 days. The type of javelin used, the voice of the Freelancer, and any possible season changes during each rotation. If any Cypher Annotations are found, they are mentioned in the video’s description. Not all such annotations are in one video, but all 4 videos will make up for each other’s shortcomings, if any.

Quest Chain

This expedition is a part of the Keeping Promises Storyline. When the storyline is completed, an appropriate challenge is also completed, which will reward the Freelancer. The following are the related quests in order for this storyline:

Briefing

The Freelancer checks for any available contracts in the Contracts Board in the Enclave

  • Yarrow: "Got some contracts to get you started. People need help. Get out there and lend a hand."
  • The Freelancer: "Will do."

Complete Yarrow's Contracts

The Freelancer prepares for the expedition.

Launch Expedition

The Freelancer launches the Expedition and ventures outside the walls.

The Freelancer comes out of the strider and waits for Yarrow’s instructions.

  • The Freelancer: "My suit is primed, Yarrow. Contract details?"

Search for Missing Freelancer

  • Yarrow: "A Freelancer hasn’t reported in. Start a search."
  • The Freelancer: "Okay, on my way."

The Freelancer goes in search for the missing lancer

Locate Freelancer

When the Freelancer reaches the location, they must look for their fellow Freelancer using their radar.

  • Yarrow: "Okay, see if you can find the Freelancer."
  • The Freelancer: "I’ll see what I can find."

When the freelancer finds an abandoned javelin,

  • Yarrow: "Ah, unfortunate. Hang on while the cypher reviews he fallen’s link."

Recover Link

The Freelancer interacts with the link from the abandoned javelin. A green cypher projected circle shows up along with several Scars The Freelancer must remain inside the circle to make progress. If they step out, the circle changes to an orange color and the progress made dwindles. If any enemy is inside the circle, the color becomes pale and the progress slows down, but doesn’t stop.

Scanning Link

Several Scars spawn using gates and the Freelancer finds them. When the scan is completed

  • Yarrow: "Look at this. The Cypher found an unfinished contract. We will complete that."
  • The Freelancer: "I understand."

Eliminate Scar

The Freelancer fights and defeats the scars

  • Yarrow: "Good work. Finish the rest of them."

When all Scars are defeated,

  • Yarrow: "Let’s call that finished."
  • Yarrow: "This Freelancer has a contract dealing with outlaws. Let’s find something for you that will complete this contract."

Recover Supplies Stolen from Cargo Strider

  • Yarrow: "Today you will be recovering stolen supplies and proving crime does not pay."
  • The Freelancer: "Got it. On my way."

The Freelancer goes to the provided location

Locate Supplies

When the Freelancer reaches the outlaw camp

  • Yarrow: "We got you, cowards. Let’s get those supplies."
  • The Freelancer: "Got it."

Eliminate Outlaws

Several outlaws gate in giving the freelancer a tough time while they try to tag supplies. The Freelancer fights and defeats them

  • The Freelancer: "Finished fighting. Area cleared."
  • Yarrow: "The enemy is defeated. Good. Now get those supplies."

Search Area

The Freelancer searches the area using their radar and tags the found supplies for recovery.

  • The Freelancer: "There we go. Supplies ready for Sentinel pick up."
  • Yarrow: "All right. That should do it. Excellent."
  • Yarrow: "Okay, more trouble for us. And by “us,” I mean you."

Sabotage Outlaw Plans to Establish a Camp

  • Yarrow: "Heard about a group of outlaws causing trouble nearby. Take them some Freelancer trouble."
  • The Freelancer: "Understood. I’m on it."

The Freelancer flies to the new location provided by Yarrow

Locate Camp

When the Freelancer reaches the camp

  • Yarrow: "Turrets? These cowards have turrets? Destroy them."
  • The Freelancer: "You got it."

Destroy the Turrets

The Freelancer must destroy two targeted turrets while dealing with any outlaws When the first turret is destroyed,

  • Yarrow: "Good start. Continue!"

When the last Turret is destroyed

  • Yarrow: "Turrets are in pieces. Good. Finish off the remaining outlaws."
  • The Freelancer: "On it."

Eliminate Outlaws

More outlaws will start gating in. The Freelancer fights the entire gaggle and defeats them.

  • The Freelancer: "Finished fighting. Area cleared."
  • Yarrow: "They are scattered. You have won."
  • Yarrow: "Ahhh, very good work. Well done."

Post Expedition

The Freelancer collects any remaining items and returns to the Fort.

Notes and Remarks

  • The dialogs may change or differ from the ones transcribed here.
  • As a matter of fact, the 3 main objectives can be different.
  • The dialogs mentioned in the script can vary across different play-throughs and different repetition of the game modes. The dialog will be taken from a pool that get rotated in-game. The script mentioned here is from one such instance only.
