Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- Of all the Bioware games with character customization, this is the most simplistic.
- There are only 2 options to customize: the face preset and the Call Sign.
Below is the Script and Walkthrough for Character Creation (Mission):
Briefing
Fort Tarsis is a small walled city, bustling with life. It has a market right next to the Forge where the Freelancer’s rusty old Ranger will be serviced after the recent mission.

Choose Appearance
The Freelancer must choose from one of 21 face presets.
Character Creation Tutorial
At this point, there is a Character Creation tutorial. There is an option to choose from 21 faces for the male or female Freelancer each.
This face can show up during future cut scenes or match-making animation, only if the default javelin helmet for Default Ranger Helmet, Default Storm Helmet, and Default Interceptor Helmet, or Default Colossus Torso is equipped.
Set Call Sign
The Freelancer must choose a Call Sign. The Call Sign is used to refer the freelancers during expeditions, but in this case, it shows above the XP bar and as a name when opening the Map in Freeplay.
The Freelancer comes out of their javelin in the Forge.
- Freelancer: "Here we are. Back in Fort Tarsis. The last stop on the Bastion frontier."
The Freelancer notices a strider about to halt. Only the Strider’s cockpit is visible, showing the size of the Fort’s walls. At this moment, a mechanic greets the hero.
- Zoe: "If it isn’t my favorite freelancer. I hear you’ve been busy."
- Freelancer: "You know how it is, Zoe. Another day, another disaster averted."
The Freelancer looks at Zoe, a mechanic at the Forge.
- Zoe: "What have you done this time?"
- Freelancer: "Nothing! My armor’s fine. Probably. I hope."
Post Expedition
Zoe goes away. The Freelancer looks at the Fort Tarsis Market
Notes and Remarks
- This is not listed under Critical Objectives in the Journal, however, this activity remains in a limbo between Early Warnings and Welcome to Fort Tarsis without being a part of either of these missions.
- The selection is final and cannot be changed unless a new pilot is created.
- The dialogs in this expedition will always remain the same as mentioned in this script. However, certain conversations may be skipped if actions are performed quickly, or additional conversations will show up if there is a delay.

Note: The Expedition Maps feature is still a Work in Progress. Sometimes, a refreshing/reloading of this page may be required to zoom-in or zoom-out completely.
