Script and Walkthrough
Briefing
Check Harken’s Progress
Enter Prison
- Harken: "You know, I always look forward to our visits, my dear Freelancer."
- Freelancer: "Is the device ready?"
- Harken: "Oh, yes. It’s an attenuator for the Anthem of Creation. Perhaps my best work to date. Activated by your Dawn Shield, it will weaken reality within the cataclysm—enough for you to reach the spear."
- Freelancer: "”Weaken Reality”? Why does that sound dangerous and terrible?"
- Harken: "Oh, to the cataclysm it is. For you, not so much. Remember that this cataclysm—this new reality—wants to survive. It will supplant your reality, given the chance. Better not to give it that chance. Don’t you agree?"
- Freelancer: "So I just have to go in and grab the spear, and that’ll silence the storm?"
- Harken: "I would expect that Vara and the cataclysm will do everything they can to stop you. Deal with her first. And then you should have little difficulty with the rest of the experiment. Now, aren’t you glad you had my help? What would you have done without me, I wonder?"
=Silence the Echo of Reality
Destroy Vara’s Spear
In Mission
Silence the Echo of Reality
- Faye: "Don’t move. The reality around you hasn’t stabilized yet."
- Freelancer: "I read you, Faye."
- Faye: "The Cataclysm is consuming reality all around you. If you stay here too long, you’ll be next."
Leave the Safe Zone
The moment the Freelancer exits the pocket of stable reality
- Freelancer: "This looks bad, Faye."
- Faye: "It reminds me of the Heart of Rage. I can even hear whispers of the Anthem coming through."
- Freelancer: "Will you be alright?"
- Faye: "Don’t worry about me. You’re the one inside a collapsing reality that’s on fire."
At this point the Freelancer can either do the events inside the cataclysm or confront Vara
Defeat Vara
When the final blow is dealt to Vara, her Titan form collapses and withers. The crystal holding the spear shatters. The spear breaks, falling to the ground. As the Freelancer descends from the air towards, Vara who is now her human self again, still wearing the Valkyrie Javelin, crawls to take hold of the broken spear.
- Vara: "W—what?"
Before Vara could reach the spear, the Freelancer kicks it away from her.
- Freelancer: "It’s over, Vara. "
Vara continues to crawl towards the spear, now way out of her reach
- Vara: "”Might separates the weak from the worthy.” The weak from the worthy. (Struggling) The weak from the worthy."
- Freelancer: "You might need a new motto. That one hasn’t served you well."
- Vara: "Harken told me I’d bring order. Sacrifice. That’s all I had to do. Sacrifice. Lies, lies, lies!"
Vara rises on her feet.
- Freelancer: "What’re your talking about?"
- Vara: "I followed the plan. His plan!"
- Freelancer: "What do you mean His plan?"
Freelancer walks towards Vara, when she turns her back walking away.
- Vara: "(Pained cry)"
- Freelancer: "Stay with me. Maybe I can help you."
Vara stops and looks at the Freelancer
- Vara: "You… help me? (Laughs) You are just a puppet. Blind to its own strings."
The Freelancer stands still, looking at Vara who walks away with great difficulty while withering to dust. The dark liquid in the shaper ruin wavers as the broken crystal shards are submerged inside it.
- Freelancer: "Harken. You and I are going to have a little chat. Harken!"
- Faye: "He cut his link. Haluk’s gone to check on him."
- Freelancer: "Damnit. Alert Vule and the Sentinels. I’m on my way."
The Freelancer walks away, presumable while using the Egress to return to Fort Tarsis.
Post-Mission
Return to Fort Tarsis.
