Each javelin is equipped with two types of Assault gear, which both provide offensive abilities for the javelin's user.
- Ranger - Assault launcher and Grenade
- Colossus - Heavy assault launcher and Ordnance launcher
- Storm - Focus seal and Blast seal
- Interceptor - Assault system and Strike system.
The "primary" Assault gear for a javelin- "Ability 1," in any controls layout- is usually an area of effect attack, with most being able to be targeted at a specific location, one exception being a Colossus' Lightning Coil
The "secondary" Assault gear- "Ability 2," respectively- often acts like an additional weapon, and usually has multiple charges per cooldown cycle.
Most Assault gear items are able to prime, or detonate, a combo. Items that prime a combo apply a status effect, or are able to do so, when they damage an enemy, which will result in a combo effect, as determined by the detonator ability.
