Arcanists are asking the Freelancer to help them with a particular type of research during the Season of Skulls Festival.
Hints and Suggestions
- The dialog exchange between the characters will change depending on whether single player or multiplayer mode is played.
- Remember to perform Feats to obtain XP for increasing Pilot Level and receiving Alliance bonus.
- Correctly match the Cymatic Symbols that are Cypher Projected on the pedestal.
- There can only be these symbols usually given the colloquial names as follows:
- Diamond, Fish, Big, Funnel, Huge
- Defeat elementals by staying afar from them, since they can come closer and explode themselves, inducing status effects on a javelin.
- To fight the titan, focus on their glowing weak points, which can be targeted to do more damage. Other parts of the Titan take less damage. It is preferable to use Acid or Armor Buster damage dealing combat equipment.

These are the locations where the Freelancer begins the expedition, has to perform tasks to advance, and conclude the expedition.
Cortex Entry
Arcanist Research is categorized under the Legendary World Event type of expedition. These expeditions do not have any specific cortex entries associated with them.
Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)
- This event adds reputation to the Arcanists faction
- This event is timed and lasts only for 45 minutes in the original release.
- If the event fails, there is a waiting period of 5 minutes before it gets reset.
- This is the only expedition to use more than 3 Cymatic Patterns. These patterns are called Chladni Plate patterns.
- This is currently the only known world event that can spawn in more than 10 locations!

Briefing
As the Freelancer is flying across Northern Bastion, Faye interrupts
- Faye: "Arcanist contacts have just put out a request for help."
- the Freelancer: "Got it. On my way."
In Expedition
Activate relic to begin study
- Faye: "A special device was setup to study this Shaper relic. I’m told it shuts down if there’s a power surge. But first, we need to find some echoes."
Collect 4 echoes After delivering the 4 echoes
- Faye: "Thats done it. The Relic’s active and the Arcanist device is recording."
Defend Device from elementals
- Faye or Owen: "Elementals. Fascinating, but deadly."
Solve 2 Pressure plate puzzles (stand on the pressure plates with the same symbols as the device)
- Faye: "We have an Overload. Not unexpected."
While solving the first puzzle
- Faye or Owen: "Well done. You’re half way there."
After solving, Reset the device
- Faye: "Looks like everything is working again, but we need to reactivate the shaper relic."
Collect 5 Echoes After delivering the echoes
- Faye: "Relic activated. Should be getting reading now."
Defend the device from the elementals again Solve Pressure plate puzzle again
- Faye: "Another overload. Just match the dampener symbols like before. "
If wrong plate is selected
- Faye or Owen: "Ah-- lost one."
Collect 6 echoes Deliver 6 echoes Defeat Titan
- Faye: "You need to be careful. There’s a Titan nearby."
After defeating Titan
- Faye: "That monster was here because we were fussing with the Shaper Relic. At least we got what the Arcanists needed. Well done, all around."
Post Expedition
Collect the rewards.
Notes and Remarks
- This event is required to unlock the Season of Skulls Conjunction before Update 1.7.0.
- This event can contribute to World Events Feat
- The dialogs mentioned in the script can vary across different play-throughs and different repetition of the game modes. The dialog will be taken from a pool that get rotated in-game. The script mentioned here is from one such instance only.
