Hints and Suggestions

  • The dialog exchange between the characters will change depending on whether single player or multiplayer mode is played.
  • Remember to perform Feats to obtain XP for increasing Pilot Level and receiving Alliance bonus.
  • Make sure to read the text pop ups that show around the memorials. This can be easily done with the help of a Sniper Rifle. Zoom and aim at the pop up marker that looks like for the best view.
  • Scars infantry can be easily tackled with any combat equipment. Items that do Blast Damage are more useful when they are in hordes.
  • For Scar Scouts and hunters, it is best to focus on stripping their shields with lightning or Shield Breaker damage.
  • Scar Destroyers' seeker mines are filled with acid which can reduce resistance of the javelin. They can deploy them infinite times. One mine may be tolerable, but several mines can automatically target a javelin and bring it down. Whenever a Destroyer is seen, defeat it quickly with any equipment.
  • Scar Hunters can do a lot of damage They must be a priority when tackling enemies. Once their shields are stripped, freeze them using ice or render them flightless with fire.
  • Scar Enforcers have armored health. They don’t do much damage. Using armor buster, acid or fire type damage is the best way to deal with them. Same goes for turrets.
  • Stay away from elementals as they can spew their attacks or worse, explode when near a javelin to do a large damage.
  • To deal with deal with the titans use armor buster or acid damage.
  • The Doomsday Titan can be quite tricky as it has more health than any regular Ancient Ash Titan, however, the combat remains the same. Have a look at its strategy to fight this enemy.

Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)

  • The first sound is heard while traveling towards the Legionnaire’s Ravine. It sounds like a squeaky static.
  • Unfortunately, even though the Lesser Ash Titans are Apex Enemies, the ones summoned by the second volatile relic do not drop any loot whatsoever. This is done to prevent exploits since the relic keeps summoning these titans when each one is defeated.
  • Scars will fight the Titans summoned by the relic and the Titan’s attacks will do damage to Scars. So, it’s best to focus on silencing the relic.
  • The Doomsday Titan will drop guaranteed loot.
  • The Doomsday Relic has differently shaped fragments when compared to the other lesser relics.
  • The text pop up on the silenced relic reads:
    • Energy has flatlined. Completely inert.
  • This is the first Agent Brin quest that has a post expedition conversational cut scene. This is also an indication that Brin now trusts the Freelancer.
  • The Doomsday Titan is the only known creature summoned by a relic that doesn’t die off when its summoning relic is silenced.

Below is the Script and Walkthrough for Apocalypse When? (Mission):

Briefing

Brin is by her post amid her plants when the Freelancer decides to pay her a visit.

  • Sentinel Brin: "Freelancer! You’re here. Good."
  • The Freelancer: "What’ve you got for me, Brin?"
  • Sentinel Brin: "Remember that ultra-powerful Shaper relic the Scars were enhancing with Arcanist machinery?"
  • The Freelancer: "Yeah. And that Escari saying the Scars would bring down the fort."
  • Sentinel Brin: "The Scars his it well, but—thanks to our beacons—I may be onto something. We’re detecting a massive Scar presence—and a power signature I don’t recognize. It’s got to bethat relic."
  • The Freelancer: "I’m on it."
  • Sentinel Brin: "go, Freelancer. And thank you."

Briefing Gallery

In Expedition

The Freelancer comes out of the strider at Sanadeen's Pass.

  • The Freelancer: "Brin, I’m on my way. What should I be expecting?"
  • Sentinel Brin: "If our beacons are correct—which they are—lots of Scars, and avery large relic."
  • The Freelancer: "Tough, but doable."
  • Sentinel Brin: "Or it’s going to be exceptionally challenging, and I may never hear from you again."
  • The Freelancer: "Or that."
  • Sentinel Brin: "Oh, sorry, I thought we were just saying things that might happen."

Travel to Relic

The Freelancer flies to the location given by Brin to Legionnaire's Ravine. As they travel, some strange noise can be heard.

  • The Freelancer: "I’m here. But… nothing else is."
  • Sentinel Brin: "that’s not possible."
  • The Freelancer: "I’ll look around."
  • Sentinel Brin: ""

Search for Relic

The Freelancer looks around for a relic using the radar. The Freelancer finds scar explosives and stockpiles in a camp along with relic fragments. The Freelancer destroys the scar items to find an inert relic. The Freelancer interacts with it.

  • The Freelancer: "Just one relic, and it’s inert. Could your reading be wrong?"
  • Sentinel Brin: "No, there’s no way—"

The strange noise is heard again.

Investigate Sound

  • Sentinel Brin: "Did you hear that?"
  • The Freelancer: "I sure did."
  • Sentinel Brin: "Follow it."

Travel to Sound’s Source

The Freelancer follows the strange sound.

  • Sentinel Brin: "This time it’s definitely going to be lots of Scars and a very big relic."
  • The Freelancer: "I believe you."
  • Sentinel Brin: "It sounds like maybe you don’t. honestly, it’s going to be very intense."

The Freelancer reaches Helena's Walk to see a swarm of Scars.

  • Sentinel Brin: "Ah-ha! That must be the Scar’s doomsday relic! Oh… “relics.” Sorry, there’s two."
  • The Freelancer: "Fantastic."

Stop the Scars' Doomsday Relic

The Freelancer must silence two Shaper relics while dealing with the Scars and anything the volatile relics might create!

Fragments Recovered

The Freelancer must pick up 3 fragments of one of the two relics. The Second one hasn’t gone volatile yet. This relic creates Ash Elementals. If the freelancer takes too much time to find the Fragments and remain occupied with the enemies, brin will interject.

  • Sentinel Brin: "You need to silence the relic. Find those fragments."

When the first fragment is inserted,

  • Sentinel Brin: "You’ve got the fragment."

When the second fragment is inserted,

  • Sentinel Brin: "One less fragment to worry about."

When the final fragment is inserted,

  • Sentinel Brin: "Silenced! I knew you could do it! Take these Scars out."
  • The Freelancer: "Working on it!"

Defeat Scars

The Freelancer fights the Scars and defeats them.

  • Sentinel Brin: "Now the second relic’s going volatile! I’ve never seen one of those come out of a relic!"

Titans start to come out of the second relic. Silencing this relic is not going to be as easy as the previous one.

Fragments Recovered

The Freelancer must insert 5 relic fragments now. Meanwhile, more Scars gate in, these look tougher. When the first fragment is inserted,

  • Sentinel Brin: "That fragment will help."

When the second fragment is inserted,

  • Sentinel Brin: "Yes! Fragment down."

When the third fragment is inserted,

  • Sentinel Brin: "That’s a fragment back!"

When the fourth fragment is inserted,

  • The Freelancer: "Almost…"
  • Sentinel Brin: "This is it, Freelancer. You can finish it."

When the final fragment is inserted, any enemies summoned by the relic die off. The Scars begin to disperse.

  • Sentinel Brin: "Are they retreating? They’re retreating. You did it!"
  • The Freelancer: "We did it!"
  • Sentinel Brin: "Doomsday relics: destroyed."
  • The Freelancer: "The Fort is safe again. I’ll—"

Another new sound can be heard…

Investigate New Sound

  • The Freelancer: "Brin?"
  • Sentinel Brin: "Freelancer?"
  • The Freelancer: "I don’t think it’s over."

Travel to the Sound's Source

The Freelancer flies to the Iron Serpent to see a massive relic gone completely haywire! One of the structures connected to the Monument has gone completely volatile and has summoned a Shaper ruin with a dark fluid making Shaper energy go berserk. There are echoes everywhere!

  • Sentinel Brin: "Freelancer? I’ve never seen a relic do that."
  • The Freelancer: "Hold tight. We’ll get this done."

The relic summons a monstrous titan.

  • The Freelancer: "Brin?"
  • Sentinel Brin: "Yes? Looks like we found it."

Stop Another Scar Doomsday Relic

The Freelancer must silence the relic while not dying ay the hands of the Doomsday Titan.

  • Sentinel Brin: "It’s making echoes? Grab them to silence it!"

Echoes Delivered

The Freelancer must deliver 8 Echoes that are scattered all around the ruin on pillars.

  • Sentinel Brin: "Getthose echoes to the relic. They should silence it!"

When the first set of echoes is deposited,

  • Sentinel Brin: "That’s some relic. I mean… that is some relic that you can absolutely and easily silence!"

When more echoes are delivered,

  • Sentinel Brin: "Those echoes can stabilize the relic."

When all echoes are delivered, The Freelancer can also choose to fight the Doomsday Titan first and then silence the relic. Or vice versa

  • The Freelancer: "I thought silencing the relic would get rid of that thing!"
  • Sentinel Brin: "It didn’t."

Defeat Titan

  • Sentinel Brin: "You can’t let this thing reach the fort. It could destroy everything."
  • The Freelancer: "That’s why we won’t let it."
  • Sentinel Brin: "The relic’s generating lightning!"
  • The Freelancer: "I know!"
  • Sentinel Brin: "That lightning really does look very dangerous."
  • The Freelancer: "It’s not so bad next to the titan."
  • Sentinel Brin: "It just keeps going."
  • The Freelancer: "It’ll fall!"

When the Doomsday Titan’s health is at the halfway mark,

  • Sentinel Brin: "You’re wearing it down!"
  • The Freelancer: "I hope so!"

When the Doomsday Titan explodes,

  • The Freelancer: "Titan down."
  • Sentinel Brin: "Great! All that’s left is the relic."

If the Doomsday Titan is defeated, the Doomsday Relic will start summoning Lesser Ash Titans.

  • Sentinel Brin: "Which… just spat out a titan."

When the relic is silenced, any creatures it summoned will die off. The silenced Doomsday Relic has a text pop up on it.

  • Sentinel Brin: "That’s… it?"
  • The Freelancer: "I think that’s it."
  • Sentinel Brin: "That’s… really it?"
  • The Freelancer: "That’s really it."
  • Sentinel Brin: "The Scars, the relics, the Escari… my Sentinels."
  • The Freelancer: "We did it."
  • Sentinel Brin: "We did. Come see me back at the fort when you can, Freelancer."

The Freelancer returns to Fort Tarsis after collecting any items of interest.
