Expedition Agent Quest A Cry for Help Header Image

Yarrow however, needs assistance with a different, more imminent problem.

Hints and Suggestions

  • The dialog exchange between the characters will change depending on whether single player or multiplayer mode is played.
  • Remember to perform Feats to obtain XP for increasing Pilot Level and receiving Alliance bonus.
  • This particular expedition may have a video walkthrough after the Cortex Entry section for documentation.
  • Make sure to read the text pop ups that show around the memorials. This can be easily done with the help of a Sniper Rifle. Zoom and aim at the pop up marker that looks like Text Pop Up for the best view.
  • Wyverns can be destroyed with Elemental Damage or Acid very easily.
  • Acid damage will make the Titan more vulnerable than all other damage types since it has a large health pool. Aim for the weak points on the Titan’s arms and chest.
  • Using Blast Damage on the packs of Wolven and Frost Wolven will quickly take them out. Even better if it is of fire damage.
  • The Ursix’s weak point is on its head. However, if constantly targeted, it’s eyes begin to glow red, and its attacks become more ferocious. Armor Buster, Acid and Fire damage are the best way to take it out.

A distress call has been sent out by a fellow Freelancer. A strider is down and the passengers onboard are in danger. Locate the strider and help in any way you can.

Outcome: Responding to a distress signal, you helped a downed strider manage its repairs, allowing it to continue its journey. Charged with the protection of the strider and the Arcanists onboard, Freelancer Diggs described an ambush by a large group of Scars. Details of the attack were few, and Yarrow has questions for Diggs when he and his passengers arrive at Fort Tarsis.

Trivia (May Contain Spoilers)

  • The Freelancer stars by coming out of a Strider. The Strider pilot is unknown, but it is very likely Haluk, depending on when this Agent Quest was completed.
  • There is a text pop up on the leg of the strider that reads:
    • The strider has sustained heavy damage: some from gunfire and explosives.
  • There is a text pop up on the corpse of a Wyvern that reads:
  • Rarely attacking alone, wyvern more often hunt in a group. Preferred food of wolven.
  • There is a text pop up in one of the fires amid the ambush that says:
    • A small and very well-armed group attacked the strider here. No Scar bodies are present.
  • Yarrow mentions that the Hydraulic Strut is not a small thing. But when compared to the other tools, it is relatively smaller.
  • The color of the Diggs' helmet's visor is green.
  • Diggs is equipping the Reaper Armor Pack.
  • The site of ambush shows by Diggs aptly is called the Double Cross.
  • This is the first time it is mentioned that Scar weapons are inferior to human-made weapons.
  • Yarrow mentions about the Ursix’s weak point and its hidden attribute while instructing the Freelancer on how to defeat it quickly.
  • When the mission ends, there is a strider animation where the cargo bay is closed and hoisted up the strider.

Below is the Script and Walkthrough for A Cry for Help (Mission):

Briefing

Yarrow is in the Enclave by the Story Wall.

  • Yarrow: "Ah. It’s you. Good. There’s trouble. Got a distress call from a Freelancer, okay? In bad shape."
  • The Freelancer: "What happened?"
  • Yarrow: "Don’t know. A strider is stuck out there. Got passengers. Like I said, bad. If a Freelancer calls for help, we answer."
  • The Freelancer: "Got it."
  • Yarrow: "Go. Find what you can."

Respond to the Distress Call

The Freelancer heads out with their javelin.

Launch Expedition

The Freelancer ventures outside the Fort

Briefing Gallery

In Expedition

The Freelancer gets out of their strider in Korox Shallows

  • The Freelancer: "All right, what do we know?"
  • Yarrow: "Not much. A Freelancer escorting a strider called for help. Lost communication after that. What is the trouble? Who are the passengers? I know nothing. I don’t like all these questions."
  • The Freelancer: "Yeah. And this rain will make them harder to find."

Locate Strider

When the Freelancer reaches the strider downed at Silent Path,

  • Yarrow: "There’s the strider. Wyverns are circling. Never a good sign."

Eliminate Wyvern

The Freelancer fights the Wyvern. Meanwhile, there is a Lancer called Diggs, who is busy repairing the strider amid this distress

  • Diggs: "Keep those damn birds away from me."

When all the wyverns are defeated

  • Diggs: "That’s right—bring 'em down!"
  • The Freelancer: " Hear that? I think we found out Freelancer."
  • Yarrow: "Alive. Good."

Check on Strider

The Freelancer checks on the damaged strider to see several Wyvern corpses all around. The Freelancer speaks with the repairing lancer.

  • Diggs: "Hey! You a Freelancer? The name’s Diggs. Yeah, Freelancer Diggs."
  • The Freelancer: "What happened?"
  • Diggs: "Got jumped by Scars back a ways. Damaged the cargo bay. Look, my heavy repair tools are scattered around here. Help a guy out?"
  • The Freelancer: "I’ll see what I can find."

Repair Strider

The Freelancer decides to help the lancer in distress and looks for them in the vicinity of The Double Cross and Silent Path.

Tools Collected

The Freelancer must find 4 tools scattered quite far away from the downed strider, which is somewhat suspicious When the first tool is collected,

  • The Freelancer: "Found one. Not too far away."
  • Diggs: "With that cargo bay damaged, we’ve been dumping supplies for a while now. Those tools could be anywhere."

When the second set of tools is found,

  • Diggs: "You gotta hurry. I need this cargo bay closed before those things come at me again."

The Freelancer goes to the next location directed by their radar

  • The Freelancer: "Found one."
  • Diggs: "You got something? Good. Keep looking."
  • The Freelancer: "Passengers doing okay?"
  • Diggs: "Passengers? Oh yeah, sure, those Arcanists are good. Everybody’s good."
  • The Freelancer: "Arcanists? Okay, good to hear?"

When the last tools are found

  • The Freelancer: "Found the last one."
  • Diggs: "Bring it all here. Might have a bigger problem."

Return Tools

The Freelancer returns to Diggs with the collected tools.

  • The Freelancer: "How’s it looking?"
  • Diggs: "Bad. Cargo door’s missing a hydraulic strut. Must have come off during the attack."
  • The Freelancer: "The strider can’t move like this."
  • Diggs: "no. we’re as good as dead out here. Uh, the ambush was dead up the trail…"
  • The Freelancer: "All right, I’ll run it down."

Search Ambush Site

The Freelancer can encounter Anrisaurs while traveling to the site back in The Double Cross. The Freelancer flies to the point of ambush. There is however, a big threat waiting for them. An Ash Titan is wreaking havoc around the site of ambush

  • Yarrow: "That is a Titan. Careful, my friend. It’s chest is vulnerable when you see it open!"

Along with the Titan, there are also several wyverns. The Freelancer fights them all and defeats them

  • The Freelancer: "Nothing here."
  • Yarrow: "No. Freelancer Diggs said scars attacked. Tried to get inside the cargo bay."
  • The Freelancer: "That’s right."
  • Yarrow: "Hm. The weapon damage seems strange. Better than usual scar weapons."

The Freelancer looks for the missing part among the wreckage. When they find any item of interest, they can interact with it.

  • The Freelancer: "Lots of damage."
  • Yarrow: "Yes. Lots of fighting happened."
  • The Freelancer: "I’ll look for that missing part. What was it? A strut?"

The Freelancer keeps looking. When they find something

  • Yarrow: "That is curious"
  • The Freelancer: "What?"
  • Yarrow: "Lots of cargo has been left here. Scars take most everything."
  • The Freelancer: "That is curious."

There is a text pop up nearby in one of the fires. The Freelancer goes towards the new location shown by their radar. Third time’s the charm,

  • The Freelancer: "This has to be the part we’re looking for."
  • Yarrow: "Yes that’s the one. Not a small thing eh? You’ll have to carry it back."

If the Freelancer lingers around for longer durations, Brutes can show up

Take the Strut to the Strider

The Freelancer retrieves he hydraulic strut and returns to the strider

  • The Freelancer: "Diggs, you copy?"
  • Diggs: "There you are. Find anything?"
  • Yarrow: "Yes—headed back."
  • The Freelancer: "Don’t mess around. These bird carcasses are attracting attention."

The Freelancer returns to the downed strider

  • Yarrow (To Diggs): "Our people found the part, Diggs."
  • The Freelancer: "I’m in trouble here! You hear that? I told you those damn birds would attract trouble!"

Wolven have started showing up to feed on the wyvern corpses. The Freelancer fights and defeats them. The Freelancer then hands the strut over to Diggs

  • The Freelancer: "There! Get moving on the repairs."
  • Diggs: "Just gotta get that welded in. it’s gonna take time. Kill anything that gets too close."

Defend Strider

More Wolven and Frost Wolven start to gate in from several location. The Freelancer fights them all

  • The Freelancer: "These wolven just keep coming. I didn’t know these birds tasted so good."
  • Yarrow: "They don’t."
  • The Freelancer: "I… you know what? I’m not going to ask."

The Freelancer defeats all the fauna

  • The Freelancer: "Okay. I think that’s all of them."
  • Diggs: "Still working on this. Just about done."

When suddenly, a bigger threat shows up

  • Yarrow: "Wait, we got more trouble on the way. Big trouble."

An ursix shows up!

Defeat Ursix

The Ursix charges towards the strider and fights the Freelancer

  • Diggs: "Kill that thing!"
  • Yarrow: "Ursix! Big trouble. Aim for its head!"
  • The Freelancer: "You think?"
  • Yarrow: "It will make it mad, but does more damage than hitting the body!"

The freelancer fights the monstrous predator

  • Yarrow: "You have hurt it! But be careful. It is more ferocious when the eyes go bright."
  • The Freelancer: "Good to know."

As the beast grows more and more rampant

  • Yarrow: "It tries to scare you. But a Freelancer does not back away so easily!"
  • The Freelancer: "This Freelancer certainly doesn’t."

When the Freelancer defeats the Ursix

  • The Freelancer: "It’s down. What a monster."

Check on Repairs

The Freelancer goes to check on Diggs and the repairs

  • The Freelancer: "Repairs done?"
  • Diggs: "Yeah. Should be good. Gotta get moving before anything else shows up."
  • The Freelancer: "Okay good Luck."
  • The Freelancer (To Yarrow): "Looks like Freelancer Diggs and his passengers are on their way."
  • Yarrow: "When we get to Fort Tarsis, we’ll have to sit down and hear more of what happened."
  • The Freelancer: "Agreed."
  • Yarrow: "All right, my friend. Good work."

The Freelancer returns to the fort.

Post Expedition

The Freelancer is now back in the Fort.

Return to Yarrow in the Fort

Yarrow waits for the freelancer in the Enclave

Speak with Yarrow

  • Yarrow: "Ah-ha, back to talk! Very good in getting Freelancer Diggs and his passengers on the path again. Striders are very reliable… no, I cannot say that with a straight face. Anyway, they need abig push when they stop."
  • The Freelancer: "Glad I could help."
  • Yarrow: "So few of us, we need to stick together. Even for those just passing through. I’ll but Diggs a drink when he gets to Fort Tarsis. Maybe the bar finally has some Fortuo Brue."
  • The Freelancer: "That’s your favorite?"
  • Yarrow: "Favorite? Listen, there is Fortuo Brew and then there is swill. You maybe tell me you prefer another drink, I would only feel bad for your sad life."
  • The Freelancer: "Okay, then."
  • Yarrow: "Now I’m thirsty. You come back when you want contracts."
